  1. A vested interest in selling shock collars/prong collars because the trainers are so impotent! IT'S CALLED A QUICK FIX!!! you have got to be kidding right???? all dogs are different and some dogs have more issues than others and some training methods just dont work!!!! Besides do you REALLY think anyone on DOL would do anything to HURT their own dogs or give people advise on a training method or peice of equipment that would put a dog in danger????
  2. hmmmm we got told when sam barks that we should throw a cup full of water at him!!!!it works a treat except he seems to know when your coming now cause you have to throw the water further each time...but its definately got his barking down to a minimum...dont know if i would do it at dog training thou...you want ya dog happy to be there....so he performs to his or her best....
  3. yeah we have some bad eggs around here too...ive heard ALOT of storys...there a well known pet palour (sp?) round here who drugs every dog that walks throu the door and i am gettin more and more of their clients!!!
  4. i'll go to a few local yets its just hard when i have clients all over town at the moment that go to all different vets and this is the third vet seperate ones that has suggested this to a client of mine...i might have to just take every case as it comes!!!!
  5. so just wondering if anyone else has this same issue!!! I have a few dogs i wash with skin allergys and i am sick of vets telling my costmers that mobile groomers are no good!!! they dont even ask WHICH mobile dog groomer they are using apparently!!! they are telling customer we recycle our water and that our shampoos conatin soap both of which are no where near true!!!! we have huge tanks of water in our trailors and i only fill up every four dogs or so, and NONE of our shampoos contain soap and we offer medicate shampoo for all the dogs that do have bad skin and it is the equivilant to what vets recommend we just get it made under a different brand!!!! further more we disenfect (sp?) after every dog we do!!!!and we also flush the whole system with diso at the end of each week!!!! the bloody vets should keep their mouths shut....and not tar and feather all mobile dog groomers with the same brush i know for a fact we do a great job!!!!
  6. so you got ellie off a breeder then???of racing greys???? kick me if im wrong grey hound people but shouldnt they have desexed ellie before selling to paola????
  7. fegus went throu a phase of eating dirt and it was like pottin mix stuff mum had just put down and it gave him the runny bunnys
  8. fegus likes to undo the toielt paper!!!!hes a naughty bugger!!!!!
  9. as far as i know pups dont get scored their parents do then they can be scored IF they are goin to be used for breeding after two...well i think thats the go anyway!!!!but then im no breeder so someone else might be better informed than me!!!!
  10. oh dear i was only just wondering how they were goin...poor things....well atleast they are happy where ever they are now!!!!!and pain free!!!!RIP puppies!!!!!
  11. oh my god who the hell would read that and go oh yeah that sounds like it might work god help any dogs that have owners DUMB enough to use this method of preventing holes!!!
  12. my aunty is having similar problems with gettin her shar pei to train, something has come up EVERYTIME they have wanted to start her!!!!but all goin weel they WILL start the first sunday of november as she is well (she was very sick) and has been desexed!!!!!!not much else can get in the road now....surely!!!! GOOD LUCK GETTING THERE
  13. i agree with peibe, aslo as the breeder has been doin things properly you are fairly safe
  14. i hate clips that take upto three hours or more in some case!!!our set prices are usually 50-60 but if anyone asks me to do something say bigger than a BC then i wack the price up, i am yet to clip a dog that was in great condition with no clips and what not!!!i cringe when people tell me they have a shitzu x something or some sort of oodley doodley!!!!! i probably would have charged around the sam, i am a shocker for not putting my price up thou from my quoted price!!!!
  15. before i became a groomer i was already clipping my dogs, used to just do what ever and hope it turned out good, i learnt from my mistakes basically!!!!its really not that hard, most of my clients are either too lazy to learn to do it there selves OR their dog wont let them!!!dogs can act up something shocking if their human is present, nine times outa ten if you get the owner to leave the dog stops playing up!!!!i say go for it, you'd save stacks in the long run!!!
  16. same thing happened to my fergus a few weeks ago, hes a pug and smashed his smoshed in face into the ground so you could imagine the crying, hes was a bit the same, i think he just felt sorry for himself, maybe spike is just sleepsy???fergs has just hit the 15 week mark and he still sleeps for most of the day, but if you are still really concerned that he isnt his self by about lunch then maybe a trip to the vet????
  17. our dogs love them, we use peanut butter and liver or their dry food and mix it all together, they also enjoy old soft drink bottles with some of their dry food in it...our border collie has now figured out how to open the bottles with his teeth so they dont last long with him but the other dogs have no idea and sit and chew them for a few hours!!!
  18. havent washed one yet....but would probably charge about 35-40 for trim and wash depend what kind of trim you talking about, also would depend on how difficult the dog is!!!if they are easy to wash and groom i sometimes only charge the basic wash price which is 30....you will also find that where you live determines how much you will be chrged, im in newcastle so basically all washs excpet for the ones in the back of utes are charging around $30!!!
  19. rotties all the ones i have washed so far have had very manly names like jake bruce and ben...they are three i wash all the time!!!
  20. hey thats ok....no worries, i dont know much about gsd's only that all the ones i wash are really nice...the way they loose their coat is really annoying thou, in clumps, i'd just invest in a great brush and get as much out as u can!!!!some one else may be able to help u more...maybe post a topic with GSD in it then the GSD people will look and might have some good tips!!!!
