Nevafollo replied to wolf82's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
hey wolf82 have u come up with a solution?? -
pug owner here....my fergus was crate trained in a canvas crate and i never had a problem with chewing it or anything like that HOWEVER he was a good puppy never tried to chew it....not all puppies are like this....im getting an amstaff in 2 weeks and will not be getting a canvas crate....it will be wire and any other dog i have from here on in will have a wire crate!!! only because i think the wire ones last longer...fergus's material one thou not chewed or anything has faded and isnt very nice anymore whilst our wire ones looks like they will last forever!!!

What Do You Look For In A Vet?
Nevafollo replied to Scoobie's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
took me a while to decided on which yet i really wanted my boys to go to i have been to about five different ones and the one im sticking with from now on are excellent in all areas!!! price is good, everyone knows what they are talking about and are well qualified, the tafe near it use's it for its vet nursing classes (and alot of the teachers have or do work there) its fairly easy to get an appoinment , when i did have an emergency with one of my boys they were open when alot of other vets werent (which was a huge reason for the change as i called previous vet and they were closed where as these guys were open) and they have good prices!!!! they are a wee drive from home but well worth it!!!!!!!!! but by far the best part about them is they are extremely friendly and its a very nice place to be at (well for a vets) -
first thing you learn when you go to dog training!!! Instrutors are there to instruct you in the best way to teach your puppy!!! IMO you need to work though this with your puppy rather than letting someone else deal with it!!! i personally think letting someone else do this may harm your puppy more than help it!!!

that does not look right...frgus got desexed thursday and his stitches look fan bloody tastic compared to that and i thought his were starting to look a wee bit dodgey!!! maybe you should talk to a different vet!?!?! -
our dogs get .chicken mince .rice or pasta .dry food (usually supper coat bonnies or pedigree performance) . and chicken necks .lactose (sp?) free milk this cost us around roughly 50c+ per day to feed each never had an issue with their weight coats or poop!!!

LOL nice work...i know how hard it can be getting a pug to fetch...i finally taught fergus to now we need to focus on him bring it back to me right now he thinks its funnier to run around me.....but better than sam my lab x poodle he hates retreiving ANYTHING...have been working on it for months and he wil run after what ever i throw then just keep running or roll on it...hes such an embarasment at training...Gotta love it!!!

i just got a fone call from a client of mine who was in tears, one of my fave dogs big ben the rotty passed at around 12 last night.... he was the biggest rotty ive ever seen he would run up to me and sit one me everytime i came round to wash him!!! he would lick me throu out his whole wash and use his head to make me pat him... ben had the softest most excellent nature of any dog i have washed this far..... he was very well looked after and well loved and will be missed by his mum and dad his mum said that she knew the hardest thing would be ringing me to cancel his next wash because she knew how much i loved and how much he loved me...i was his favorite visitor in the world... RIP big benny

what about a play pen for out side or fence of the dirt area!!! but seriously you should consider crate training!!! it wont take that long and it will help you as your dog grows!!!a puppy on a bed is cute but once they get bigger it can cause problems!!! it can make training in general harder as they will consider them equal to you or above you in the family pack!!! and even thou its been said try not to wash ya dog that often it will strip their coat something shocking if you have to do it only do it weekly but if it were me it would only be getting monthly washs...or fortnightly if really needed!!!

my dog wuld love that she loves eating poo!!!!freak she is!!!! :p

we were discussing this at dog training and an old school trainer suggested this...dont know if you want to use it but im sure it would stop puppy from stealing the washing.... peg garbage bags of water up onto the clothes line then drap a towel or something similar over the top then when puppy grabs at towel they burst the bag and water goes all over their heads....would probably only work if ya dog didnt like water...
-
