Are These Things Good Or Not?
Nevafollo replied to greatdanes's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
your best bet is to ask the dane people these questions on feeding.... (in the dane thread) they are all really really helpful and im sure you'll find all the answers you need! -

What happened to a dog is what you make it? Your a member too and you should know not to classify certain breeds as having uneven temprements, you own an Amm Staff correct, well a lot of people say things about them as a breed aswell...please dont classify certain breeds as having uneven temps its not a fair statement at all The fact that is a cross breed has no baring on this issue either... Lets get back on topic or close the thread never said i was an expert in fact if u had read what i said i said i based my assessment on what i read/heard and seen of these dogs i have met quite a few they are fairly popular around here, no doubt there is a reeder some where in the hunter region. not long ago i was attacked by one and after that i decided i wanted to know as much as i could about them so i read up abit and spoke to a few people and alot told me that they were very unpredictable dogs especially if not socialised properly, i guess my statement was abit loaded but i am only going off experiences with the breed and knowledge i have gained from people who know the breed. so i went off topic...sue me!!!!

i dont care if u are black white puple 19, 50 or 100 single mum or happily married with 30 kids... my issue with this whole thing is u had been a member here for over two months and went out and bought a mutt.... an overly priced mutt at that!!!you would have thought you would have learnt something her but obviously not!!! people that cross any sort of big bull breed piss me off and the people that buy them even more so, why? because the breeders of these dogs dont take into consideration temperment all they see is dollar signs, breeders like that and purchasers like you are the reason so many dogs are at risk of being ban under bsl.... from what ive read and seen of american bull dogs they can be a handful and have very uneven temps and then some bright spark decided to go cross it with some thing else? sorry about how blunt im being but when it comes to issues like this it really drives me nuts

an planned breeding? and what where they hoping to acheive from this planned breeding? do u know?

-
hey guys just wondering if lambs fry is good or bad for dogs?
-
i wish i got more customers who actually cared for their dogs coat but they dont generally people are bloody lazy!!!
-
i have to agree with rysup doggrooma unfortunatly for most people who buy swf this point comes at about 6 months give or take a month or two... why? because most who buy them buy them on impluse and will never put a brush near the poor little thing!!! 90% of the dogs i have come into my trailor are mutts swf crossbreeds designer dogs what ever u want to call them...and becuase they are some random cross their coat is usually shit anyway so i cant see how u can cause too much damage to their coat!!!!
-
tough question i just sort of play it by ear if a pup growls at me i growl back if the dog fidgets i stop everything and wait for it to calm back down i never give up on puppys the trick is patience and persistance the best thing u can do for the pup is tell the owners about how reguarly they need to be grooming there dog to get it used to noises and being handled!!!!

you sound like you are doing a hell of alot i think that after you do the house bombs ect u "should" see an improvement only other thing i'd do is change from frontline to advantix or sentinal (sp?) but they are my personaly preference and everyones different!!!
-
yeah i'd be muzzling her....you'll find that it will help her get used to it and eventually u may be able to take the muzzle off!!!
-
in regard to the biting i'd ignore it if he does it give him a oy to do it to instead if he doesnt stop he needs a time out somewhere like a crate.... the yelping ect works for getting the to realise how hard is too hard to bite... meh i cant help much one of the smart training types will be along soon to help

Thanks for the concern. Unfortunately no, I do not have papers. He is not a full american, after viewing his parents his father was the american and his mother was an english. By the look of it, he does not look like a pitbull. He's got to develop more, but his parents were nowhere near pitbulls. Thanks again Sammy, but at present time my concern is not with BSL. If that were a problem then I'd look further into that down the future, but right now it's the least of my concerns as I know he is not a pitbull. Right now, the concern is based around the pup growing up with my other boy and how they react together, as well as his current behaviour. well thats pretty sad, you dogs could be taken from u at ANY minute due to these laws and its not ur concern? i get that ur after help about his behaviour, but right now u need to research BSL and see what ur in for if the council come knocking!!! and seriously KEEP them seperate if u arnt home, or u could come home to a hurt or dead dog its a simple fact with bull breeds!!!

im hoping u got papers for ur amstaff but as hes only 7 weeks old im doubting he came from a registered breeder (which would mean no papers), the thing is with amstaffs u really need their papers so when or if the council come knocking on ur door u can prove he isnt a pitty!!! but whats done is done, ur just going to have to SUPER careful and avoid the council!!! u say u are from brissy? its really not a great place to own and unpapered amstaff, QLD is one of the worst states for BSL....i'd suggest u research BSL (breed specific legislation) alot of his issues would stem from being taken away from his litter mates early, between 6 and 8 weeks they are learning their boundaries, litter mates and ther mum are putting them in there place at this age. i'd suggest u keep the boys seperated when ever u arnt home, if and when they fight its going to end badly amstaffs stem from pittys and have a fighting instinct, every heard the saying when it comes to bull breeds, he or she may not start it but they WILL finish it?!?!?!?
