Nup dont think a pug would suit these circumstances! If you like spaniel look, what about a clumber spaniel lovely dogs and abit bigger than a cav. If you go a spaniel thou you will need to get him or her done by a pro groomer every 6 or so weeks unless you want to learn to do it yourself of course!

is the dog going to be outside when you are at work? What about at night? Am going to say whippet but i think a whippy would be happiest inside of a night. Beagles could fit too. Border terrier but I dont know much about them. Some suggestions slighty out of the ideal, flat coat retreiver, bit bigger and hairy but not too hairy, Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen really nice dogs can be abit barky apparenlty, smooth collie but they are probably abit bigger than what you are after, basset hound but they are a big dog in a squished body LOL! Some of these breeds might be totally not suitable (they are just the first ones i thought of) and im sure people that own them can/will clear that up!

I wouldnt put off entering him in shows because he doesnt like his teeth being done, aslong as the judge can get a quick look it will be fine and the best way for him to get over it is to have lots of people do it, if you go to show training get everyone to look at them, if you go to obedience get people to do it there, if you take him for walks and people want to pat him (adul;ts only no kids) ask if they would mind looking in his mouth! And dont forget lots of treats for letting people do it!

Aw thanks for the offer ...And, I would take you up on it, but with the squishyness in the toy ring at HB I always get nervous visiting you guys cause last time we went up there we got 'yelled' at for making someones dogs pipe up ;) :D I hope you told them to mind their own freakin' business! How rude, we all know that toys never shut up anyway! GoldenWei, everybody expects babies to be silly in their class and in baby sweepstakes, we always enter sweepies because its good practice for them, can't say Peach really enjoyed the time it took 45 minutes though! even I was bored i agree I hope you told them to stick that comment up their butts, I had comments when I got Kite but shes is better behaved than 90% of the toy dogs, you dont hear from her and rarely see her so they can get stuffed! Alot of the toy people are full of their own self importannce (obviously not the crew we sit with thou LOL), good example is the lady who told me off cause she couldnt see, not my fault, perhaps if she got off her arse and stood ring side she would be able to see, besides she had already very rudely blocked our veiw with her and her friends trolleys right infront of our gazebo! Dotty is right sweepies are fantastic for learning not just for us but for the dogs!

Thats a dam shame Fiona, was looking forward to another gunner person joining the crew. no one missed mmuch last night except for us having to train ourselves seeings no trainer was there...oh well we all worked hard and i think i made a fine judge...we will be back next fortnight i think!!

Hey all what a weekend us newbies had! Cant wait to get out again and have some more fun!

We dont normally brag but we have had a fab weekend! Pointee Kite got a Puppy of group yesterday! Chase the pug got his first ever challange and BOB and actually manage RUNNER UP IN GROUP!!!! We were/are stoked with his performance! Clouseau, mums new baby pug hit the ring for the first time and took BABY OF GROUP! He is a stunning boy, destined for big things! Such a great weekend and just HAD to have abit of a brag cause we dont normally get to brag about these sort of things!

Dont think they can be reported. I know I will be taking back anything we breed.

My pugs arnt cat fans but doesnt mean they cant live with them.... One reason I cant/wont get a cat is because I worry to much about them getting their eyes scratched!

Ahh, I come from Kurri Kurri so would go a different way to you. I turn off the Pacific Hwy at Tomago (just over the Hexam bridge) and go down Tomago Rd/Cabbage Tree Rd to Williamtown Airport. Do you know Richardson road that goes under the freeway and follows the edge of Grahamstown Dam? I think it's the first exit off the freeway Raymond Terrace/Nelsons Bay. There are two ways you can go: 1. Follow Richardson Rd right through to the big roundabout at Campvale, and turn left onto Medowie road. Follow Medowie Rd to the next roundabout and turn left onto Ferodale Rd, then left again at the next roundabout to the showground. 2. Follow Richardson Rd past the picnic grounds/pontoon at Grahamstown Dam and turn left onto a pokey little road that continues along the shoreline, this road is Grahamstown Rd. Take the first left onto Fairlands Rd and follow it to the end. It Tee intersects onto Ferodale Rd - turn right. Follow Ferodale Rd untill you hit the first roundabout and turn right into the showgrounds As for shade, there is plenty of trees along the edge of the showground, but nothing on the field (the show is held on a footy oval). ETA: Bring mozzie repellent! They are really bad in the afternoon and into the night. Thanks for the tip I loathe mozzies!! Hi all newbies you are all welcome at Gunnedah in April I have only been showing 2 years this April and live in Gunnedah our grounds are looking good and at the moment extra power sights are going in also the main 3 rings will have lights like at Hillsborough, so it will be an exciting 3 days for our 50 year celebrations. so hopfully angelsophie is coming to make up the Havanese numbers Brenda Sounds good to me! Angelsophie better go to gunnedah she be in trouble otherwise! I can wait till our set up is complete...still so much to buy thou!

Nope, no booking a campsite at Gunnedah. Don't worry though, there is HEAPS of room to set up camp As you drive in just pop into the caretakers office and he will direct you to a spot to camp. One tip though, take ear plugs if you intend to sleep - the grounds are right next to a train station and the trains toot as they come into, and out of the station on an hourly basis. Thanx, do you know if they have powered sites? We seriously need a generator!LOL
