  1. Thanx guys. Its definately not how you expect your first litter to work out but thats breeding for you. Not sure if I'm just a sucker for punishment or not, but we are going to have another try next season.
  2. Yeah he did suggest that even if we had taken him out sooner that the outcome would have been the same unfortunately. Im kind of glad he was born dead if he wasnt quite right as if he had been born then had had to be PTS due to a cleft palete or similar I dont think I would have coped very well with that. I should add that Rebel is happy and health and snoring away here like nothing has happened...poor little mite!
  3. Would just like to thank everyone for their advise and help. Unfortunately this morning our baby was deliver but he was dead. The vet said we had done everything right and sometimes these things just happen saddest part is he was exactly what I was hoping for. We named him Monster as we thought he was going to be one biiig baby but suprising us all he really wasnt very big. We will have another crack next season and hopefully little monster will have some brothers and sisters to look down upon!
  4. OOO I loove greys especially show ones!!! Good luck with everything!
  5. thanx guys shes booked in on monday for tests and we will go from there i am watching her temp thou to see if she goes sooner!
  6. Sorry to hear you lost your little one Rysup. Yes I keep getting told that chances are the baby in there is quite big. Lets put it this way my girl is looking VERY preggers so i can only imagine just how big that little grub is I really thought she would have atleast 2-4 in there, just the one really is quite annoying!
  7. Thanks, what i bolded I had no idea of so thats interesting to know. I am leaning towards a c-section anyway because Im just too worried that something will go wrong, but thought I would ask. Also does anyone have any information in regards to dealing with just one bub, Im assuming that i will have to do a fair bit of work raising this little guy or girl right as he or she wont have litter mates to rough house with ect.
  8. Hey guys. So went and had our puggy bitch xrayed today and the little miss is only hidding ONE baby. How rude! Anyway the vet basically told us it was our choice wether we do a c-section or not he said had it been a non-brachy breed he would have said just go about things as normal but because puggies have a high incident of c-sectrion births he said things could go either way and its entirely upto us with how we proceed. So I have asked a few puggy friends (one of which owns the sire) and now I am asking you guys, would you leave her and see how she goes our would you book her for the c-section and with an optional c-section what day would you do it on? Thanx in advance!
  9. So We have our first litter due! Shes due from the weekend on wards. Anyway yesterday I rang our vet about an xray. Vet nurse i spoke with wanted me to leave her there ALL day just for an xray...I dont think so tim! Everytime I ring that place they all have a different story for me, i think they make it up as they go along! Then I rang a few places booked in for one but realised I actually cant get her there that time that day so kept ringing! Next place I spoke to the lady tried to tell me they would NEVER do xrays on pregnant bitchs as it would cause abnormalities in the babies like cancer ect...I couldnt help myself and argued for abit with her then told her it was ok I was going to ring a vet that KNEW what they were talking about...rang the vet clinic that they are in association with and the vet nurse I spoke with was peeing herself with laughter and said not to worry they would ring the "abnormal" vet nurse and explain it to her! In the end I rang a another play and spoke to a lovely vet nurse who didnt have to ask a vet about everything didnt have to put me on hold to check stuff she actually KNEW what she was speaking about and they could do the time I wanted and I only leave her for 30-45 minutes and come back... needless to say if this vet plays there cards right they will be getting abit of buisness from us from now on!
  10. Bostons only come in one size. And are very very hard to get. And I do agree a pug is suitable excpet for the shedding AND the fact that being a brachy breed they dont cope with the heat and I personally wont be sellin to a home that isnt going to have the dog inside during the hottest part of the day in summer, these guys might be willing to do that but from what the OP said I think they would prefer a dog that can cope with the heat and be left out with its boxer friend during the day.
  11. Pugs shed more than most realise. Plus not sure about the dog being outside most of the day my guys do spend a fair deal of time outside during the cooler months ect but not during summer. Its just too hot outside for them.
  12. And just so you know bindi, its a MASSIVE 3 day weekend with apparently a record entry for hillsborough, well thats what I was reading anyway! Its going to be very hectic but I would say at a guess cav's would be on around the 9.30-10ish mark each day plus the after noon shows but at this stage none of us know when they will start...basically when ever the morning on es finish! If you want to say hi, we sit at the gundog ring with 2 x pointers 1x Petit basset griffon vendeen and 1 x pug! We are only there friday morning and sunday both morning and night thou!!! Enjoy your time!
  13. OMG bumping this from page 6 some of us really arnt newbies any more I dont think but maybe there might be a few new newbies that could take over the thread maybe? Make it there own? Poor sad thread...its being neglected!
  14. Brushing wise yes I'd say you would have to brush more, keeping dogs in full or close to full coat is hard work! I would say Id pefer to have a dog that I just had to mostly brush and scissor rather than the clipping that is involved in poodles. I clip poodles daily and whilst I love making them look proper and pretty I do hate actually doing them.
  15. It really depends what sort of clip you plan on keeping your dog in. Also is your dog going to be shown at all? ETA...If you want to keep a TT in full coat I could imagine it would be quite abit of work, it would be a fair bit of brushing each week. s for a poodle if you plan to keep its hair long then what Dogs4fun has said is pretty spot on.
  16. Good thing that we have dogs online and facebook Ect otherwise results would be very hard to come by! Excellent job everyone!
  17. We have only been told to get out of the rings at one show...and we were in there after the show had finished! We generally dont have an issue at hillsborough ect! Sure dont toilet your dogs in the ring but I see no issue in practising!
  18. Does he have a name yet? Are they from the same breeder? golly they are lovely!
  19. WOWZER he's so cute! You really have a thing for big boofers dont you ILDDs? ;) :D
  20. Um im confused, why does jibba have your puppy pic as their avatar? http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=204908 ETA How freaking cute is he? I can see why you are having issues LOL!
  21. Pointer definately fits! Mine self exercise mostly, but are moire than happy to go for walks and what not. Right now thou they are curled up on the lounge with one of their puggy friends!
  22. Saw a whole bunch of wrecks at Bairnsdale last Sunday after the high winds. Peg them by the feet AND two guy ropes per leg (brace them diagonally) and they last a lot longer. Anyone who pegs feet only is begging for disaster. Ours was pegged down like that! Winds were forcast but when we left the PM show (round 9pm) it wasnt windy and everyone figured it had passed. Apparently at around 1am the winds went crazy and people sleeping in gazebos were trying to save as many as they could ripping roofs off ect but ALOT of people lost their gazebos, some lovely person ripped the roof off both ours but unfortunately our good oztrails flew over and bent yet our good old big w gazebo held strong
  23. I dont know, but your thread reminded me I need to see if there are any sales on around here as our gazebo was victim to high winds the other day at hillsborough and snapped!
