I often refer to pointers as calmer versions of labs/goldens. Its pretty much the easiest way to explain them, especially when most people have no idea what they are. From my experience they still have that fun loving friendly nature but tend to mature faster and are bigger couch potatos but then the weird part is if I take my girls out with a friends labs they definately out last him playing running and enjoying themselves where as he will lay down stuffed. Its like pointers know when to use their energy? I know that sounds abit odd but Im currently sitting here with 3 x sleeping pointers they will lay here all day if I let them but if I took them for a swim or walk right now they would have the energy to go and go! They are definately great for busy familys, couples or singles who might not have the time to put excessive ammounts of training and exercise in. I mean like any dog they do need training, boundaries, entertainment and love ect otherwise they will get bored but they just dont need as much as some breeds . I hope that makes sense!

English pointer would tick all boxes. Perfect match I think. Wonderful dogs. Friendly, cuddley, love attention but they dont crave it to the point of stupidity like some breeds, trainable but dont need excessive training, they dont need excessive exercise. Wash and wear which trust me in the long run is so handy, they usually like to go swimming running walking and they are fantastic with other dogs. Pointers are a well kept secret of the dog world. I really wish more people realised how fantastic they are! ;)

Is it really thou? I like the online process and use it when Im lazy but I def dont find it cheap especially when enterin 6 dogs

A snort or a Sneeze! A boing of pointers!

You would hope that your GSP points seeings they are bred too Both my pointers snorkle in water as do a fair few I know. They also had smells and sprays and will rub themselves all over the ground to get the smell away.

What about exchanging for a standard? Im fairly sure they are slightly shorter when packed up? Could be wrong thou! just so you know our standard got injured in high winds last year at hillsborough, our Big W one survived! Weird I know! Other peoples delux's faired even worse than our standard.

How old is he tenties? Hes a very solid looking boy Mum two newbies have their first shows today, well the PBGV def does...we arnt too sure wether dumbledores coat has grown back enough after his first puppy stripping so we will wait and see what his breeder says when we get there!

Ive met good ones and bad ones. I love a cute well adjusted Chi, but the spoilt rotten idiot ones are what give the breed the snappy yappy bad name! All comes down to ownership and how they are raised.

We have Cooling bricks that we freeze and just put a thin babies blanket over the top and the pugs very happily lay on it!Some people I know have made cases for their cool bricks using pillo slips ect. Much cheaper than cool mats and they stay colder even longer!
-
Yes he sure is and mums going to have her hands full with two babies at once especially these two scruff buggars.
-
These two newbies arnt technically mine but can be mine by association as Im sure I will have to handle one at some stage. These are my mums two newbies for 2011 Harlow, the PBGV Annnnnd Dumbledore the Griffon!!!!

I was also going to suggest a feild, alot of the spaniels could work. personally I love clumbers! Have britneys been suggested? Someone mentioned PBGV to which you were worried about off lead work, just wanted to add to it that my mum has two PBGVs now they do well in the show ring and are very smart. Her boy Niles comes from a mother that is titled in OB and his dads working towards it I do beleive. Niles also has just started off lead work and he is much better than we had expected as everyone said no hes a hound never let him off lead. We took him to the park yesterday and he was off lead with my pointers and he came when called my naughty dogs did NOT!

Also another reason you might not be able to get thru to the kennels on the phone is alot of people cant call out on land lines cause of the water in the lines. I hope you find out how your dog is ASAP I would be an absolute mess with worry if I were you!

I think your daughters on to something, a whippet would be ideal.

We go to Sydney shows every now and then and I cant say we have had anymore issue than anywhere else? Everydog show has their weird bitchy people! The freaks who take things to serious! I just ignore the crap these days! We have surrounded ourselves with some pretty awesome people and because of that most shows are very enjoyable!

I love it too. Sparkle showed amazing instinct when we took him for his first herding clinic. We won't ever be breeding Pointers, we have a boy and that is MORE than enough, he is a pain in the butt! (Sorry Doodle!) Thanks for all the suggestions so far.. Much to think about! No more suggestions from me you evil anti pointer person...poor doodle!

Im the opposite, I would probably keep at it and explain to each judge and each steward that you are having issues so the judge knows to go slow ect. Yesterday, a friend and I were disuccing dogs who have issues in the ring (as both our dogs went thru a faze) and we both agreed that the best thing we did was keep at it. I would suggest to you doing show training away from the home, and you need to make it fun for her. Most babys wont walk or do anything at their first show even their first few. Eventually thou they get it. Time and persisants is what I go for, I would only pull a dog of mine if they were having an extreame reaction to the ring.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Why do judges prefer fawn is it because blacks are hard to judge like ReadySetGo said? I would of thought colour didn't matter so much... they are still pugs at the end of the day I think its a combonation of the two. I think the quality of blacks in australia is lower than the quality of fawns and I also think alot of judges find them hard to judge, good judges for black pugs are hard to find!!! I started with a black of reasonable quality (not the best but better than alot of the fawns she was beaten by) and it can be quite disapointing!

No hopefuls here...YET
