Her tongue is ok, I think. She is still eating, so it can't be too much wrong. Mint...... is all types of mint ok? I am not good at herbs, so it can be a silly question. I will just go to a supermarket and get whatever green thing that has called the label "mint" on it. I got a serious problem here, she doesn't listen to NO, she will just keep on going to bite my feet, or do whatever she is doing. What can I do? I have tried grabbing her neck (like what the dog mother do) and move her away from things, and give her a toy etc, but that doesn't work all the time. However, she did pretty well when I have food in my hands and then when I say sit, come or wait, she will respond pretty well. How can I associate a NO with food? Don't worry about me having a litter, it won't happen, and never ever going to happen. I am planning to get her desexed at 5 or 6 months. The breeder has told me not to desex her too early, early desex is no good.

Sure I will post a pic of my Bichon pup, Chelsea. (I finally understand why take so long for the breeder to send pics, it is really busy looking after a pup, and imagine if I got a litter......) Anyway, so mint is ok for pup? It won't cause any sickness. Cos Chelsea is a toy size breed, I am just a bit concerned something may be ok for a med or large breed pup, may not be ok for a tiny small ones. Also, do they enjoy icy pops when they are teething? Is it very painful for the puppy when they are teething? Also, she sometimes just chew on my feet, how should I stop that? I have said NO in a firm tone, but sometimes, it just not work.

My 9 weeks old Bichon pup is teething now. I gave her a Raw Hide to chew, and yesterday, I noticed some red thing on the Raw Hide, seems like to be blood. Is there usually blood coming out from teeth when they are teething, or is she just chewing too hard (like human brushing the teeth too hard and bleed)? Or it is actually something that I should seriously be concerned? She eat, poo and wee, all ok and play too. No sign of illness. Also, please suggest me something that I can clean her mouth with, she got mouth breath!

Thanks guys. Um.... if I contact my breeder for every doubtful question I ask, I think she will be sitting on the phone all day. Btw, what are the signs of dehydration? Yeah, there is always a bowl of water inside the crate with her. But she always just step into it and make the floor wet. That's another puppy problem that I have to solve out, how can I prevent this? Off Topic - As with photos, I am really busy at the moment, but sure I am going to put one up....... perhaps tonight?

I went back home from work at lunch, I took my 9 weeks old pup outside for toliet break at lunch time, she is tired at that time. Anyway, I let her to play for a while. She is licking on the cover of the sewsage, and after a while, she stick her tongue out and walk, looking very thirsty, so I put a bowl of water in front of her, she wouldn't drink it. But she just keep her tongue out for a little while. So I took the bowl of water in front of her again, and still no drink. I tried more a couple of times. Then of course, I brought her inside the house, knowing that she is tired and hot. Anyway, she didn't stick out her tongue her more. My question is: why she doesn't lick the water that I gave to her? Is it sticking tougue out is the only reason when dogs are thirsty, could it be any other reason that a dog may stick out its tongue Could her tongue be burnt by the metal of the sewsage cover, it is aluminum metal type of thing. It is about 28-30 degrees (guessing) in her in Sydney Hills District. How should I check? She wasn't screaming or anything in pain. She was outside with me for 30 mins or so.

I have a look at the RSPCA insurance before, basically it is the same insurance policy, same contact details for making claim as PETCOVER. RSPCA said it will donate 5-20% of insurance fee to the rescue of dogs.

I would use chicken neck, but still supervise when eating. I am thinking of using chicken drumstick? Why people use chicken wings but not chicken drumstick? Any potential danger? I know puppy teeth fell out and change to adult teeth around 3-4 months. There are some special toothbrush and toothpaste for dogs. Some vets may have them, but I was told that I can just use a kid's toothbrush with dog's toothpaste.

oh, your pup looks so cute, so lucky to be with you. I think you may have to educate the person whom you buy the pup from, not to breed again if she is not preparing to take care of it.

After I read the policy booklet, I won't take any insurance. They don't cover illness e.g. parvo, even with highest cover. Anyone know of a pet insurance that may cover parvo, or ticks, etc? Insurance companies always make money.

Give the pup a toy to play with, something to distract attention

Difference Between Getting A Puppy At 12 Weeks Versus 16 Weeks
skwo2 replied to BT-Argo's topic in Puppy Chat
Isn't that breeder usually let puppy to go home at 8 weeks? It said usually between 8 -12 weeks is the best time for the puppy to adapt to a new environment. But I guess it doesn't really matter, you can always train the puppy, even with separation anxiety. Do a search on this forum and you will find a lot of thread talking about it -
All the Best for your puppy. I guess it could be a worrying night, but I am sure everything will be fine.

What Is An Unpleasant Taste For Pups But Ok For Kids
skwo2 replied to frenzied1's topic in Puppy Chat
I found out that aloe vera is a toxic plant in this website http://www.sniksnak.com/plants-toxic.html It also lists all the other plants that are toxic. I am not sure about the aloe vera juice. -
What Is An Unpleasant Taste For Pups But Ok For Kids
skwo2 replied to frenzied1's topic in Puppy Chat
Aloe Vera is poison to dogs, so I won't recommend using it Train the dog not to go near the baby, like they did in the last show of "It is me or the dog" (week 5?) -
I know there is a lot of this kind of issue in this forum, do a search on separation anxiety. Basically, you can train the pup to be on her own, say like you close the front door and be out for 5 mins, before you go out, leave a toy for her to play. After 5 mins, come back. You train her by increasing the timeframe each time.

Want to ask, in terms of crating, should I get a dog crate or a pen? Will it make any difference? All it is doing is give the pup a small confined space? Do you think those human baby pen will do for toy size breed?

Oh, I am so glad to hear that. Wow.... Btw, what symptoms did you see in your pup that makes you to take the pup to see the vet? Can you please let me know the name of the Vet Hospital and the address, and perhaps the vet names too. I am not sure if you can put them up publicly in here, but please pm me if you can't put it here. I really want to know the contacts, just in case I need in the future. Mind if I ask you how much rougly does it cost you for this parvo treatment? Please keep us update

Please go to a registered breeder. I am currently waiting for my pup to be born. It is a waiting game, but in the meanwhile, I have build up a dog kennel and paint it : ) looking for good dog bed, bowls, etc. There still be at least another 2 months till the pup comes home, but you will find it enjoyable as you can prepare all the things for the pup to come home. Make sure your garden fence is secure, no gaps in balcony, rearrange furniture inside the house for the pup to stay, etc

I feel so sorry for you and your pup. Yes, a replacement pup can't replace Madden. Well, you have done your best, and hope Madden will go through all this.

My prayer is with your puppy. Have you contact your breeder to ask him/her to seek advise as to treatment? How long has your puppy in your house for? and what could be the cause of Parvo? Has it be contacted with any other dog? Does the breeder has any health ganrantee of the puppy? Do you think your breeder will be willing to pay some of the treatment cost, since the puppy is recently bought? Sorry can't help you much. But if you search on Parvo on this website, you may find something that could be useful
