On a side note I wouldn't feed any large fish like Tuna/Swordfish/big game fish as they carry alot of impurities from the ocean in their flesh which has been proven to cause an array of problems in dogs. What are the harm that can be done to dogs if feeding Tuna and Sword fish? cos I always give Chelsea to have some when I have them So what fish are ok to feed to dogs? salmon? sardines? snapper?

I don't use any grooming spray. Is there any ganrantee on the Doggyman brushes?
-
After grooming Chelsea daily with Doggyman slick brushes for 2 years, the pins on the brush start to break and fall off. I have heard that Christ Christensen slicker brushes are quite good, have anyone use it? Any other recommendation of the brand? Chelsea is a Bichon Frise. Not sure if it is my grooming skills or the brush, Chelesa doesn't really like to be brushed with slickers brush, she nags. Which shop in Sydney has the CC brushes on display, I want to have a look before I buy. (I only find them on online shops)

Is there any glucosamine in the black mussel? I know that New Zealand green lipped mussel is a rich source of glucosamine, but how about black mussel, anyone knows? Also, is it ok to feed mussel to dogs if they have joint problem?

Where Are You Getting Your Titre Testing Done?
skwo2 replied to J...'s topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
September 2007 - $96.80, done in WA (from Sydney) - parvo and distemper I _think_ .. don't have the cert to hand. Results took less than a week - around 4 days I think but the vet and I played phone tag a couple days. Which vet in Sydney does the titre testing? -
so does that mean after the titre testing, if the dog is proven to still have the vaccines inside the body, then the dog doesn't need to be vaccinated for that year?

I am using Spectrum Interceptor. It is just this person whom I met in another forum, telling everyone that there is no need to do worming, unless they see worms in the dog's poo. So from what I see in the replies here, there are worms that we can't see in the poo, and dogs do in fact need to be wormed.
-
Want to ask, what worm will not be shown in poo? It is just a concern that we are feeding the dogs too much unnecessary "medication"
-
I have been worming Chelsea regularly with a worming tablet, which combines heartworm, tapeworm, roundworm together. Someone told me that I don't have to do worming regularly (except heartworm), unless I see there are worms in Chelsea's poo. Is that correct?

Do they have any flavourings (e.g. salt) with the dish? You only feeding the fresh beans? I know that if feed too much beans, it can cause constipation.

Sumosmum, sorry to hear the sad news. But at the same time, you should feel proud, that you have taken care of Daisy so well, that she has lived this long. Sit back, and treasure those memories that you had with her. RIP Daisy

I have a bichon, and I use Doggyman slicker brush, as recommended by the breeder. Most bichon breeders at the show also use this brand, it is about $30. I brush Chelsea with a slicker brush first to get out the knots, and then use a comb to comb all over to make the fur stands up You will need to groom a bichon almost everyday

I want to ask you what can cause the brownish color in urine? I took Chelsea out to the grass to wee during the day, and the wee before bed is on the training pad. I saw brownish urine tonight, it was normal last night (light yellow color). Could it be because I feed her some cranberry juice? I heard that cranberry juice is good for bladder in dogs, the cranberry juice I got is pure cranberry juice with no sugar. I mix it 1 part of cranberry juice, 1 part of water.

Does this tablet cover fleas too? It would have said in the box. If I don't remember wrong, Sentinel Spectrum covers heartworm (plus some other worms) and flea protection, may not need Frontline and there is another type under this brand called Interceptor, which only cover heartworm (plus some other worms) and no flea protection

I feed Chelsea fish everyday, but cooked fish. I usually give her lamb in the morning, and a small piece of fish at night. Any problem to feed cooked fish?

I read a book suggesting as a natural approach to heart worm prevention, is not to take the worming tablets but to have blood test every 6 months to check if there is any heartworm. Is it safe to do so? If the blood test proves to have heartworms, how easy can it be treated? Anyone doing it this way?

Just wondering, evening primrose oil is not an essential oil like lavendar oil? Cos I know for some essential oils, it can have negative effects and harmful if used too much.
-
I read about natural therapy, in there it suggests to bath our dogs with rolled oats soaked with water and a few drops of lavendar oil. Can I just add evening primrose oil into the bath water? or there is more cautions when using evening primrose oil? I am planning to get the evening primrose oil in the health shop for human consumption.

I have been feeding Chelsea Salmon fish in her diet, thinking that would provide her a good source of omega 3 oil Not until I heard from people, that high temperature can destroy the omega 3 in salmon, (we cannot feed raw salmon due to salmon poisioning disease), so Chelsea didn't actually absorb the omega 3 from the fish. Anyone has a good brand of omega oil (either fish oil, or similar) that can be suggested. Chelsea skin is quite thin, and she sometimes bite the fur. Thanks,

So if there is a natural product for fleas, as mentioned above, how about the ticks? Any natural way to prevent ticks, if there is, then I won't have to use frontline
-
I just find that if I feed lamb bones everyday to Chelsea, after 2 days or so, she will have powdery poo poo, the poo is hard and try and some parts will be just powder. What is lamb Flap? I just use the lamb bones when I bought a piece of lamb forequarter from supermarket. Is lamb flap the white bones?
-
I give Chelsea the whole tablet. Yes, Chelsea like to eat grass and graze like a cow when I took her out for walks.(There is no lawn in my place) So what does that mean?
-
I found that Chelsea has been vomitting yellow fluid out, and it is usually a day or 2 after she has the monthly worming tablet. I used Spectrum Interceptor for 4 - 11 kg, and Chelsea is about 5.2 kg. I am not sure if it is related to the tablet or just a conincidence. It has happened this month, last month, and the month before. The stuff she vomit out is just yellow fluid, no solid stuff. Has anyone has this problem?

What Do Peolpe Think Of The New Flea Treatment
skwo2 replied to brandybaby's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
So revolution will include flea treatment and worming? No need to feed worming tablet? Do you just apply the revolution onto their skin? It sounds good to me as I have problem in feeding Chelsea her monthly worming tablet -
How about Flexseed oil? is it ok for dogs? I heard that Flexseed is good for dogs, I saw Flexseed oil selling in health shop today
