  1. Yep, I think the GFC may have had something to do with it. This is just my personal opinion, but I feel that the media focus on dog attacks hit it's peak about this time. While there has always been an anti bull-breed (I use that in the loosest generic terminology) attitude, and the negative press associated has increased over the years, wasn't it about now that there was a real focus on banning breeds, introducing muzzling, and the start of tabloid journalism (today tonight etc) televising stories about the 'pink nosed' dog who 'turned'. Like I say, these stories have always been around, I just feel that it was about this time that the stories became a focus, and front-page news, rather than page 3 of the local rag.
  2. Glad to hear you're settled in. Fabulous pics as always. The boys look very happy
  3. Oh my, she's certainly not a widdle puppy any more is she ? She's grown so fast - and is absolutely beautiful :D
  4. Me please, me please :) Big boofy Tess loves widdle puppies too :)
  5. sorry but that is just too funny. Mine poop within about 1 minute of going on a walk, even if they've just crapped in the backyard. Must be all those tantalising smells. Maybe your treadmill just smells too new for them. You need to go for a walk along your most feral streets full of dog & cat wee / poo then walk on the treadmill to cleanse it for them :)
  6. Tess doesn't lick as such, but more does this snuffly things on my face first thing of a morning to wake me up. Fleming licks my legs and hands occasionally but never my face - I've taught them not to. I'll quite happily let them lick the dishes clean. I wash up in very hot water so they get de-germed :)
  7. She is gorgeous :) Looks like she's settling in well.
  8. Fleming had his left hind leg amputated about 4 years ago. He came in as a foster who had been pretty badly treated, and his leg had been injured and left for dog-knows how long. For the first day he was very sore and sorry for himself, and the bruising was awful. He was entire at the time and his poor testicles were swollen and bruised as well. However within a few days he was up and about with no problems. Now, you can hardly tell he's got 3 legs, and people are really shocked when they find out, particularly when they've seen him racing across the park chasing a ball and out-running most other dogs  As Aussie3 said, they don't have an emotional attachment, so once the physical recovery is done they're fine. Fleming is actually a lot better off now as he was in so much pain with his gammy leg. Best of luck to you and Destiny
  9. I will be away so can't make it, but I will certainly pass the message on to some people :)
  10. OMG she is just gorgeous All fosters are special, but there is something extra special about a foster failure, and Harper sounds like not only is she extra-special, but she has entered your life at the right time to be even more than that. I am so happy for you (we need a big smacking kiss emoticon here)
  11. Sam-man often goes on about people taking his previous posts and bringing them up in a new thread - if I was him I'd be happy to see this one (if not a little scared :D) ) I'm all there for squishy puppy cuddles. Mine are too big to give proper cuddles. Full body hugs are fine, but squishy cuddles are sadly missing.
  12. Hey MWoof we should organise some puppy cuddles over summer! So when does he arrive? I'll come & camp on your doorstep :D
  13. I keep popping in here hoping for good news. Fingers & toes all crossed here for you
  14. He is just beautiful :) How lucky to have all that space to romp and play.
  15. He is just gorgeous Frodo's mum

    Toasty

So sorry for your loss. RIP Toasty
  17. 48kg of wolfie x mastiff (Tess) is my usual sleeping companion - she lies stretched out on the bed next to me as if she were another person and she HAS to be touching me. In winter she curls up in a ball and shoves her nose as close to me as she can - usually down my neck  Fleming prefers to sleep on his bed on the floor but will always jump up in the morning when the alarm goes off for cuddles before we get up, and generally joins us all night if it's cool. Add the 4.5kg cat, who much prefers to sleep on ME rather than on the bed, and it's getting close to 80kgs on the bed with me - just about the same as a human male. And yep, I end up shoved as far over to one side as I can without falling off
  18. Thanks everyone for your suggestions. Inka I love those ones, but mum wants something that will be unobtrusive & fit in with the decor. She doesn't want much I think she's going to go with something similar to what griff posted up - something made of wire / steel. I've told her to take her fussy requirements and get it custom made :)
  19. My mum needs to get a food bowl for her greyhound that is elevated off the ground. She can't put a normal bowl up on a stand as the dog just knocks (and licks) it off. I'm doing some searching on pet websites for her, but thought I'd ask here if anyone has used one, and got any recommendations? Thanks
