Early Desexing - Warning To Breeders
my_sibe_owns_me replied to morgan's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Most serial "humpers" are dogs that were desexed as puppies, that were not given the chance to outgrow the normal puppy phase of humping. I have NEVER had an adult intact male do this, but I have seen hundreds of desexed males that do. The large breeds I was talking about here do not develop until after 12 or 18 months, so there is no way they would be producing puppies at 6 mths! Who was talking about proper size? I was talking about abnormal development of genitalia. However, there are serious ramifications with cancer etc, that people never attribute ot early desexing, because they all believe current opinion which says that desexing prevents cancer. It only prevents cancer in the bits that are removed, and mammary cancer - every other cancer is increased. As fopr the humpers I have to beg to differ....we have none desexed males at our house and they wil hump away!!!! Desex at 8 weeks never even thinks about humping!!! I also work iin a groom shop.....the none desexed dogs are assholes who gett he rest 'scummy' Are you for real!!???? My English mastiff came into heat at 6mos!!!!! As did my sibe! So large breed dogs CAN and WILL come into heat at 6 mos of age As for the cancer bit its all BS.....your dog/bitch will either get it or not get it....you can not prevent it -
Early Desexing - Warning To Breeders

Do you know how many people out there can NOT in ANYWAY handle a male being a male and a female not being a female!!!??? What about when their male/female go looking for a mate? What happens when the onwers no longer want to deal with their bitch bleeding all over the house??? Its simple...most people can not handle it and it will get WAY out of control!!! So open you eyes and really look at this....really see what you are asking of peope...(IMO) most people are not ready and unturst worthy for this responsablity you are askiing of them.... But hey dont believe me why dont you become a foster parent for dogs......maybe you'll just have a change of heart Ps. Your right im sooooo awful because im looking out for my by desexing them at 8 weeks:rolleyes: -

BLAH!!! Vets dish out a lot of BS!!!! As for desexing at 8 weeks....I see no problem....I have owned many mutts from rescures that where desex at the age and NOT a single ONE of them had a promblem!!!!! And vets JUST started this rant on not desexing your puppies early! Do you want a male that humps everything that moves and is an asshole around other male dogs? Or a bitch that believes she owns everything? Clearly you have not looking into this.... I mean if you want your pup fully devolpe you would have to wait till it reached 6mo or age and do you know how many promblems and unwanted puppies and temps this would caused and if the bitch is bred on the first heat then she will loss all of it to the new puppies and still NOT GROW TO PROPER SIZE!!!!! Open your eyes and really look down the road to see what this would cause!!! :p -
Sisiter In Law's Pomeranian,
my_sibe_owns_me replied to ~Harminee~'s topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I crate my sibe when I go over to my friends house (Normally im there for many hours so hailey gets to come along) But hailey plays to 'rough' with the other dogs. So she 1. stays outside while thay are inside 2. is crated with bones, toys and water, but to hailey a crate is a 'safe place where she can chill out and watch everything that is going on and 3. she sits next to me on a leash, seeing that the other dogs are not afraid of her it olny becomes a problem when the others want to play with her...and when they do she either does one of the other two choice. -
He sounds okay. In the show world it would be called a bad front. Our saluki has an AWFUL front. His feet go outward too.... It MAY change by the time he's two when his chest drops (The chest will push out the elbows and the front feet will become straight.) But I doubt its somthing that you need to stress over seeing that is movement is just fine.

...sorry added this to the wroung set of pinned poems last time To my beloved owner, there's some things I'd like to say. But first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay. I'm writing this from the Bridge. Here I dwell with God above. Here there's no more tears of sadness. Here is just eternal love. Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight. Remember that I am with you every morning, noon and night. That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through, God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you. It's good to have you back again, you were missed while you were gone. As for your dearest family, They'll be here later on." God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do. And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you. And when you lie in bed at night the day's chores put to flight, God and I are closest to you... in the middle of the night. When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years, because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears. But do not be afraid to cry: it does relieve the pain. Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain. I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned. If I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand. But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er. I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before. There are rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb; But together we can do it by taking one day at a time. It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too; That as you give unto the world, the world will give to you. If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain; Then you can say to God at night... "My day was not in vain." And now I am contented... that my life was worthwhile. Knowing as I passed along I made somebody smile. God says: "If you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low; Just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go. When you're walking down the street with me on your mind; I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind." "And when it's time for you to go... from that body to be free. Remember you're not going... you're coming here to me."

At the moment I am feeding her pro plane, mixed with chicken, can dog food and water. -
Our mutt (troller x assuie) is now 12-13 and will not eat! She will only eat a cup of dog food a day. She is lossing weight over night and is becoming very 'down'. The vet checked her a few weeks ago and said she was health...We have tried everything to make her eat or atleast gain weight but so for all of our efferts have failed and she is really starting to scare me....So any suggestions on how to get her to eat or faten her up will be a blessing.

I know bring up prong collars has nothig to do with this topic but sence it was brought up I figured I'd ask a few questions about them. What are prong collars used for? I know many people use them but I have never used one and I dont really think I ever will but I decided I should at least know what they are used for.

Triangle Of Temptation
my_sibe_owns_me replied to Steve K9Pro's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Okay I have just started o do this with my dog so I hope Im not asking any questions that you have answerd already. I will place the food on the ground (Far way from her becasue she will hurt herself trying to get to it if its to close) then I walk to her right side, she still trys to pull and jump to get the food so I say her name and she looks at me for a seconds which in return I say good and ok but before I finsh saying good she is already trying to pull and jump in hopes of getting the food.... So with that said do I have to keep her focus long enough to tell her ok and finsh the word good? -
He was a pretty boy Im sure he was a great pet! And Im sure he's beating up a cloud in heaven as we speak

Dog Aggression Punishment
my_sibe_owns_me replied to Rom's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
The problem with simply "asking trainers" for advice on one thing or another, is that when you receive a "tip" that's ALL people then do. There can be many different reasons for behaviour and a number of different things to do towards behaviour modification .... not just "one thing". Can't say I favour the alpha roll method, but that's not really the point of my post here. People with dogs with behaviour issues should, IMO, seek out a reputable and competant behaviourist and should follow the advice given, keep regular contact and take regular lessons from that person. That way you can be coached in dealing with your dog's behaviour overall. This is why over the net advice is not good. People insist on "hints" but take the hint and apply it singularly to anything else. And unless you engage a qualified person to coach you, "hints" in the literal sense of the word is generally all a person can give - and not even specific to your own dog. I dont normally take everybodys advice. I think them over and apply it to my dog and if I dont think it is right or will have any efect on her then I simply dont do it. All I really need to know is how to gain fouces which I think I have an ideal how to deal with that...food! But she just gets way to wild over food and toys so I have been really thinking it over. But at the moment I just want to gain focuse from her before she goes in heat and before I go insane. -
I agree with the whole letting your dog go everywhere. My sibe dogs and she wont even think twice about loud noises....but dogs on the other hand...she knows where every1 one of them is and what they are doing.
