  3. Oakway- now that I think about it is just when she was on her back. No growls when I stand over her or when shes laying on her side.
  4. Darn. I was really hoping it wasnt going to be because she was gonna turn into psycho dog. Its so weird. Shes normally a really sweet dog and never tries to push the limits with me. Darn hormones. Guess it shouldn't come as a shocker. She has been very cranky in general the last few weeks. Anyone else deal with a bitch like this? Any extra tips? I know of really sweet dogs who have bitten over pups before. I just dont want to put the pups in danger at any point. Oakway- lol def. not a happy growl. I didnt walk away when she did it. Told her to knock it off and left my hand on her belly (not pressing just laid it there.) She stopped growling but wasn't pleased.
  5. Yes, she will let me rub her belly when she hasn't been pregnant. She was also letting me give her a belly rub the other day without any issues. I don't normally give belly rubs. I give ear rubs. All of mine LOVE ear rubs.
  6. Hey guys, My bitch has just started growling when I pet her belly. She hasnt willingly let anyone other them me touch her belly and even then I dont do it often. Just a belly rub once a day. Normally when shes done eating she'll come over. Its not an all teeth growl but its loud enough to hear and understand what it is. And shes NEVER growled at me over ANYTHING before. I can pet her while shes eating and take any thing away from her that I want. Is she just being really protective over them now? Shes at day 49 today. Or could it be something else?
  7. So who wants to see her? Day 24 Day 46 Day 48 Day 48 with sire Whelping box comes tomorrow!
  8. Christina- Thanks! I hadnt thought about googling their email address! Right now I think I am pretty set on getting the puppies desexed before they leave and telling people their 'deposit' is for the desexing of the puppy. So it is just part of the puppy price. I dont plan on having another litter for a long time so I guess i can just watch how these ones grow up and see if I still agree with desexing at an early age. I did read that pups who are desexed at a young age tend to grow taller, have less bone and narrow chest. Have you found this to be true?
  9. Thanks partipaws! Has there ever been any issues with desexing a puppy so young? I just dont want one to die because of it. I know our HS here will desex as young as 4 weeks (My first dog was desexed that young.) but they dont care if they loose a puppy or two. I would take them to my vet to get it done of course.
  10. Silverhaze- How young can you get them desexed? LizT- Best of luck with your litter! You have to be super excited! Great advice. Thanks. I guess Im just a little worried because no one has really expressed interest yet. I have one great home lined up if theres a submissive male. It is a shame how many people want a sibe but then find out they are too much work for them or they are just not the right fit for them. I dont want that to happen to my puppies. I want them to be a perfect fit to their families who will adapt to their individual needs. lol yea im thinking about pad locking the crates, putting steel doors and barb-wiring everything between them!
  11. Thanks for the suggestions I had the litter planned...but not for another few years. However, seems like Armani (broke some crates), had other plans. So I just feel a little lost for time.
  12. Hiya everyone! My first litter is due the 28th! Cant wait to see them! Right now im just starting to get the things I need but honestly my biggest fear is finding the pups awesome forever homes. I think I have a contract that will scare away most people who are just looking to breed their pet or lock it up in their backyard and sell it off. How did you find awesome homes for your puppies? Any tips? edit cuz I read the pin up.
  13. Looks like hes high in rear. At 4mos he is going through the "uglies" puppies look their worst and have to grow into themselves. Ex. At 4mos my sibe puppy was high in rear. now at 15 mos her topline is level again. Ex. my first show do is high in rear. At 6 mos I think her bum was higher then her head!!! Sssssooooo dippy. However when she moves her topline levels right out.
  14. Sounds like you got screwed. They didnt do a darn thing but add water and clip some toe nails. I have easily washed and dried a million dogs by now. I have done a TON of crazy lab puppies( which in reality almost ALL lab puppies are crazy)and I would have NEVER EVER sent one home like that. The high powered dryer should have blown out most of the tuffs and for that matter they could have used a glove while washing! Just because she doesnt have 'obedience skills' doesnt mean they should have half ***ed it.
  15. I have read a lot about feeding Raw but im not sure what they need or how much of it they need. So is there a chart of some kind? Or guide lines that im just missing? Greatly appreciate and advice
  16. OMG! That is the CUTEST thing I have ever seen!!!
  17. Hi guys! I'm writing a persuasive, research paper on BSL and I need a really touching, powerful poem for my introduction. I found one about a little boy having to give up his pit bull named Bob...but I cant find the link anymore... so any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
  18. The original purpose was to work for food. They only stuck with the people during the winter so they could survive. They let them loose again during the summer. I guess to REALLY find out WHY sibes blindly run/pull you'd have to figure out what those people saw in the breed and why they thought they could work them. Kelp- There very well COULD be sibes who are still working dogs. No, people are not limited to them like they where but it doesnt mean there isnt people out their using them for what they where meant for. There are still Canadian dogs (Maybe I am saying the 'breed' wrong?) who people still work. Not race but work. Its not what they do NOW its what their original purpose WAS. If we didnt breed them for what they where meant to be then world would be overwhelmed with BYBs who just breed two dogs to make a dog who could sit on our chairs without caring about style or structure.
  19. Interesting thread! Sibes are a working breed. They where MEANT to work and ENJOY working. Of course there is prey drive but like SH said "It s a feel good factor." I dont know about you but I feel GOOD during and after I go for a mile run so I assume its the same for them. However, my drive is very different lol I am sure they dont care if they are in shape and I know I'm not chasing cats and anything else little that is going bump in the night! Sibes where never meant to be racers like Alaskan huskies (who are mutts. Siberian husky x sighthound (normally smooth Saluki to get the speed)) The old AKC standards says sibes should be able to reach 25mph.
  20. Oh yeah I see what you mean about the handling at shows, it certainly wont help if she freaks out at a show! Hope you can get her a bit more settled then. Is she sensitive to a lot of handling or is it more the strangers? Is there some way of desensitising her to other things on her body using harnesses or backpacks or something? Just throwing some ideas out there. She loves me. I can do anything to her (pull her tail, ears, nose, feet) and still get kisses and tail wags. She doesn't even mind people (Strangers or people shes been seeing for the last 2mos) till they touch her/go to touch her. If you really want her to high tail it as quickly as she can just let someone try to pet her on top of her head or ears! If she SHE goes up to someone to sniff she will let them scratch under her chin for a bit and nothing else. Today she actually let one of my coworkers pet the top of her head and shoulders without anyone making her do it. But the second someone else came over she was up and gone and wouldn't go back to my coworker. Just came next to me and sat next to my leg sorta touching me. I didn't force her to go back over. I dont think any part of her body is sensitive. I can pet her anywhere on her body (including ear rubs and top of her head where she HATES other people to touch her) and she will jut keep giving kisses or that really cute happy sibe look with the ears pinned back and the body gets all wiggly right before they start to roo. lol I love sibes.
  21. Luvsdogs- Thanks for the website. There was only one that came up that dealt with more then clicker training and obedience/agility other then BB. I've sent an email so I'll see if if i get a response and if she is affordable and knowledgeable. Erny- I will give that a try! I didn't think she was learning anything when she was taking food from them. ETA: Tkay- To be honest I wouldn't care as much if I wasn't going to show her. A judge HAS to put his/her hands on the dog. I dont care if shes not an attention whore like my Armani and will be more then happy with her just dealing with people touching her without her freaking out.
  22. Have you tried really tasty food? Like hot dogs/ chicken/ steak? You could use the prey drive. When she lets someone pet her or goes up to some thing/one that scares her tug on the toy or toss her the ball as a praise.
