I need to RTFM as they say Thanks Ripley!

I don't know what's going on with my lot at the moment, but their shit STINKS They get fed Eukanuba, tinned fish, bones, rawhide sometimes and dog biscuits occasionally. The only change I can think of is adding Nervatona in the mornings to calm them. Ivan did one this morning that made me wretch when I walked into the garden. I was several feet away from the scene but I could not escape the smell. Any idea what might be causing the foul aroma??
-
Oooh, good tip about the stuffed toy. Ivan's a complete sloth though, so getting him to stay still for hours won't be too hard I wonder if my dodgy eyesight will let me down on this mission. I put total faith in the auto focus as I'm shortsighted. I wear glasses for driving, I've heard you can get viewfinders to match your prescription, but never got one. Which lens would you suggest I use? I've a 17-85 and a 70-300.

I found Patricia McConnells book on Separation Anxiety pretty good. It's only small, you could read it in a night. Have you tried NILIF also? I'm a recent convert Here's a good link http://k9deb.com/nilif.htm I can tell you my routine, there might be a few things you can try... Lots of exercise in the morning before you leave Give them Rescue Remedy/Nervatona Leave the radio on in the garage beside their run Give them no attention for 20mins before you leave and 20mins after you get home Leave one of OHs stinky work tshirts in each of their kennels Leave them with a kong/bone/everlasting treatball/something they have to work at DAP has also been suggested, but I haven't tried that yet. Good luck

... is to take some head shots of the dogs that are so pin sharp you can almost see each individual hair. Just like these ones that Pink Cupcakes took. http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?s=&a...t&p=2353103 How do I do it [i love DOL!]
-
I just rang my neighbour to see if the collar was working and she asked had I been keeping the dogs inside recently! I guess the NILIF was working, either that or he was so busy destroying things that he forgot to bark Either way, hopefully now the collar will train him to stay quiet.
-
Hmmm, came home to a ripped up bed today, not impressed. I may be able to salvage it over the weekend. He can bloody do without till next week now : His collar arrived today also. Not that it'll stop him destroying things, at least he won't be annoying anyone other than me in future ... and possibly Angel

I love when it rains... they stay in their kennels and sleep! I did the normal walk and ball throw today, but I also added a 10min cycle for Chopper. I'd forgotten how much he loved it. He ran so hard. He was pooped afterwards. Can't wait till sledding season starts up again
-
What if Chopper starts screaming at me cause I won't give him any chicken
-
Ok, cool, we have them. The squeaky toys and balls have a really high value, so they only get them when we're home. Otherwise they'd either fight over them or rip them to shreds.
-
I do have a question though. If I control everything, what do I do about leaving toys in the dog run when we're at work? When someone gets home Chopper runs and grabs a toy and shoves it at one of us to play. We don't, but is it bad that he has free access to them? What would be the alternative to keep him entertained while we're at work for 8hrs? He gets bones/kongs/treat balls etc., but I leave a few toys too.

Great links, thanks

Any Tips For Taking Pics At The Beach?
ruthless replied to ruthless's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
It's a Canon 30D. -
The news today is better than expected, although still not good! He barked for about an hour at 10am. The neighbours dog was barking in the avo which set him off for about another half an hour. He completely destroyed a wicker box that his toys were in and OH says he had a bit of a chew on the edge of the fake grass I put in for them to toilet on :D Not great, but better than barking the entire day! And thankfully he didn't drag his plush bed out of the kennel and rip it up. I'd better give him a cardboard box to destroy tomorrow, just in case. Going to discuss purchasing a collar with OH tonight, however, that won't prevent him getting bored and destroying things

I often find Chopper and Angel come out very dark when I take pics of them on the beach and it's hard to adjust them in Photoshop to get any detail. Any pointers?

Kangaroo Meaty Bones In Sydney
ruthless replied to Dogs4Fun's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
The have them in Pet Barn in Alexandria and I know OH got them in Pets 2000 too, not sure where that is though -
That was the plan. I thought I was starting a contract after the long weekend, but I got called into somewhere else yesterday at the last minute. I had planned to put them in their run every day for a few hours and build it up, but I didn't get a chance to.
-
That's what I want to learn more about. As it is they're on their own for at least 8hrs 5 days. When we get home should they not be allowed in the same room as us all night? How many hours is acceptable? I don't want to be cruel, they really crave our company. If we get strict with them can we relax the rules eventually? After how long? Why have dogs if they're never allowed be with you
-
Just looking for more info on NILIF and was wondering if anyone had any good links.
-
Thanks Dolly, but I'd actually be happier using an anti-barking collar. When I leave I give him kongs/bones/rawhide/toys etc to help prevent boredom. If he was wearing a husher muzzle he wouldn't be able to get his mouth around any of those things. He'd probably develop worse behaviours as a result!
