Angel used to refuse point blank to walk. She wasn't a puppy though, she was about 2 when we got her so it may not be the same. She was a stray and we figured out she's terrified of traffic. Maybe she was hit by a car or thrown from a car. Who knows. She loved going to Centennial Park [not many cars and 30kph speed limit] but hated leaving our house on Anzac Parade [v busy road]. She's a little better since we moved house, but walking towards the busy road she walks way behind the rest of us. Have you tried walking her somewhere quiet?

How Are People Doing There Signature's Etc
ruthless replied to baramewe's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
I've been using Photoshop for over 10 years and there's still heaps of stuff I can't do. It's not an easy programme to learn! -
A good friend of mine back home is called "six toes". It's not even that he has a sixth toe, just the bone on the edge of his foot is very pointy. He's been called it for over fifteen years, his other friends even wrote a song about it
-
It looked the same but it was a lot softer than a nail. I thought it was like that from being wedged between her other toes and not getting any air or light. It was frickin ugly whatever it was
-
It was a Polyp! At least, that's what the vet thinks it was, but he did think it was most unusual It was kinda half hanging off by the time I got there so he gave it a little tug and it just came off. He put her on anti-biotics for a week cause it left an open wound and he also said to come back in 3 weeks to make sure another one hasn't started to grow! He put it in a little jar for me to keep in cause it needs to be sent for tests in the future. He did say that dogs can get tumours in their toes that are so small they go unnoticed and can kill. So check your dogs feet everyone!
-
i am surprisingly like her in a lot of ways, but i do not have six toes!!!
-
Maybe they'll amputate her leg and give her a little stump with a wheel I might threaten her with that if she doesn't stop tearing around the house at high speed looking for trouble
-
No appointments this morning, so we're booked in for 9am tomorrow. I'll report back! The vet nurse who I spoke to on the phone said it's not that uncommon
-
Thanks for that! Great pics Love the super shiny staffy! Are any of the dogs yours?
-
Ok, good camera back from the repair shop and OH here to help so I got some better pics ... I caught her licking it so I had a look and it's pretty red so I think it must be bothering her. Off to the witch doctor with her tomorrow!

Thanks! Am I asking too much looking for pin sharp? I noticed some professional Lure Coursing pics I have look awesome but aren't as sharp up close as I used to think they were. I think a lot of my problem yesterday was I didn't know where to stand to get the best shot. Over Easter I told my OH to throw the ball towards me and he threw it so close that Chopper ran into me full force and I busted my finger and broke my camera :D I had to be very careful with my ball throwing instructions yesterday!! Have you any action shots to bring to the show and tell Rubiton? :D
-
Ivan would do the same, believe me! Some dogs just don't fetch
-
All are ISO 400 Shot 1: 1/3200 f5.6 Shot 2: same Shot 3: 1/3200 f5.0 Shot 4: same Shot 5: 1/3200 f4.5 Shot 6: 1/3200 f5.0 That makes sense now. The depth of field was too shallow :p I was using AI servo and burst mode. I had over 200 pics to wade through I'm not sure what the focus point is, whatever's standard on the 30D, cause I haven't changed it. I was trying to move with Chopper, but he's like a bloody greyhound! Maybe I'll try with Ivan the sloth next time I guess it's just a case of keep practicing! Thanks for your help

I took a bunch of pics of Chopper at the park today. He does some really impressive jumps to catch the ball but I had real difficulty in trying to capture them. More importantly trying to capture them sharply. Here's some: http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=136010 My OH was throwing the ball. I started with my 17-55mm lens. I was doing my photography homework which was to capture movement using a range of shutter speeds from 1/500 to 1/8. I shot in manual and it wasn't for ages that I realised my shots weren't out of focus, but they were blurry cause my shutter speed was too slow. Duh! I'd changed lens to my 70-300mm by then. I decided to forget about my assignment for now and keep concentrating on trying to get the shot I wanted. I set it to 1/3200 and started getting much better results, but none of them are really sharp. Was I using the right lens? I also have a f2.5 50mm but the focus is slow so I figured it was definitely out. Does anyone have any pointers on how best to capture a dog chasing a ball or jumping for a ball, and how to get the focus sharp?

Just bracketing course work Ripley, it's a requirement. Kja, where did you buy your ext HD for that price?
-
I've started bracketing and I'm finding I'm downloading heaps of pics onto my puter. I'm also finding it hard to let go and delete pics. What do other people do? Do you just get more storage cause it's cheap or do you ruthlessly cull unwanted shots after a photo session?
-
I walk all four of them, no alternative really, OH leaves for work very early. Trixie walks behind us all naturally anyway. She's a bit like Angel in that she's a bit scared of the great outdoors. The marking happens in our back garden, not when we're out. That's why I find it hard to correct. We practice the TOT, so they all sit and wait for their dinner and only eat when we say ok. Maybe with certain breeds it works to let them work out their own pack structure, but I think with bull breeds they need a strong leader. I'm a Cesar fan too ;) I've never seen a blue brindle Amstaff before, but that's not to say it's a rare colour. She's gorgeous and snuggly. I'm growing very fond of her!
-
Isn't there another school of thought that says you shouldn't allow dominance at all? No humping, no favouritism, no alpha dog, no feeding one dog first, etc. We're the pack leaders and they're all below us.
-
Our foster Amstaff, Trixie, is quite dominant and pushy. We're fine about keeping her in line and correcting any bad behaviour. However, see keeps pissing on top of all the other dogs wee and pooh. I know it's because she's trying to mask their smell cause she believes it's her territory, but how do we stop it? Or do we need to stop it? They're all separated when we're not home, so it only happens when there's someone here.
-
It doesn't seem to be bothering her at all. I sometimes check between her toes to make sure there's no redness as she's prone to bacterial infections. It's the first time I've noticed a spare toenail in there! It's growing out of the skin between the middle toes on one of her back feet. Yeah, I guess I did always know she was a bit odd
-
It's the black thing beside my index finger. That was the best I could do with the only working camera in the house and no assistant to hold her toes apart. I'll try and get a better one over the weekend.
-
It's kinda hard to see in the pic, but I just found a toenail growing in between two of Angel's toes ... WTF?!!! Do I leave it? Do I take her to the vet? Do I send her off to join the circus?!! [Chopper helped me take the pic ]

ruthless replied to ruthless's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
My 30D needs a new circuit board and will hopefully be fixed sometime next week [it'll cost $336 to fix it ] My Ixus had 2 manufacturers faults. I've already had one fixed, now I need the second one fixed, but there won't be any charge Not all doom and gloom anymore -

I do, my video camera My ixus is about 5ys old, it's been repaired once for the same problem. It was a fault in that model so they fixed it for free. Hopefully the same applies this time. -
