  1. K9: yes & no, someone reporting her for trying to grab other dogs could see you or at least her, in hot water. We don't take it lightly and make pretty damn sure it can't ever happen, but if a dog ran up to her and she was onlead, wouldn't it be the other owners fault for letting their dog rush her?
  2. They're a concern for me too, that's why I ask for advice on how to help her. This behaviour is completely manageable as she's consistent in her reactions, but like I've said before I want to do more than manage her. for how long? I've been good They've been off the bed and sofa since we implemented the ban, and I finally dusted off the RTs and even started work with Angel, so
  3. This seems to be a recurring theme in your advice to me, I am heeding it, I'll get there K9: again frustrating thus drive buidling for her. So we've unintentionally built drive in her, maybe it was already there from her previous owner, whatever the cause, it's there, is it something to worry about? I understand that teaching the basics as you've shown us will improve her self control and self limits, will it also address any prey drive issues? Steve told me recently to stick to the basics and cease all drive activities with all the dogs [incl. Lure Coursing ] for the time being, so I'm going to do what I'm told for once
  4. Dunno what you're complaining about LB, try living at my house
  5. Thanks for getting back to me Steve I need to read it a few times and digest it. I'm sure I'll be back with questions
  6. I'm not sure how that manifests itself, but it sounds like a possibility. A few scenarios ... When throwing the ball for C+A at the park [a few days after bringing her home], she was onlead and started squealing and bouncing and tried to grab them anytime they got close. OH did the same a few days later and she did it again. Haven't brought her since. After dog training some people let their dogs offlead for a runaround. Again she squeals and bounces and would probably grab if she could. She gets put in the car. Walking past the park a few weeks ago our neighbour's GSD came running over to say hello. He's super friendly and Trixie's met him before three times and submitted to him. She reacted the same as above. We made sure he didn't get close to her. We put her in a drop while we talked to our neighbour. A few minutes later he approached for a sniff and she submitted again. At the aggression workshop she was pretty well behaved so Steve walked her near another calm, tethered, dog without any correction to see how she reacted and she lunged and barked. No excitement involved. Prey drive issues isn't something we've ever looked into. I'll ask him to have a read of this thread.
  7. We've been to Steve with our other dogs. He's never assessed Trixie as such, but we attended his 2 day aggression workshop with her, so he's given us some advice on how to work through her aggression. I've never asked him about her nerves as it only really occurred to me yesterday that it was possibly an area which needs work. Can you define "prey drive issues"?
  8. Can you suggest any good reading material on how I should react?
  9. I thought that might be the case, as she's improved on so many levels, but this is one area that seems to remain unchanged. It's really not a huge deal, it just must be crap for her to get such big frights
  10. She's the same with my OH. No one else ever handles her, just the two of us. When we've guests she often completely ignores them. She may go over for a sniff after a while. Depending on how long they stay, she may actually warm to them and sit with them.
  11. As most people know, Trixie is fear aggressive. She's ok with our pack as long as everything is kept calm. No toys. No charging around the garden at high speed. Wrestling is ok, but only if supervised. She's really nervy. If I'm holding anything that looks threatening [pooper scooper, sweeping brush, a random piece of wood, etc.] she'll jump out of the way. If I'm walking her and a truck or bus goes past she jumps, even though she's already on my inside. I don't ever baby her and reassure her when she's carrying on like this. I imagine it's to do with events from her past, we got her from the pound in April and they reckoned she was 2. I noticed two things yesterday. She was asleep beside Chopper on a cushion. He sneezed which woke her and she went for him. She didn't connect and there were no dramas. It was a split second reaction that an "oi" from me snapped her out of. Later on she was asleep in her crate with the door open. There was a loud bang outside and she jumped out and started barking aggressively. Again, she was easily calmed down. We do a lot of leadership work with our dogs, so I don't think that's the issue. She's pretty obedient and well behaved. I think she has weak nerves, but is that something that can be fixed?
  12. Same You forgot to post the exif, you know we're all gonna ask
  13. It was this thread that inspired me to start the other one!
  14. Sounds like "the glue factory" alright It's on the same road as SR, on a corner up a hill, on your LHS if you're on your way there. Don't know the name of the cross street. They sell raw meat and bones, incl. roo tails
  15. Go to Burns on your way to Staffy Rescue, they're an abbatoir, cheap as
  16. Yeah, I think I have those documents, I can't bring myself to read them though People I respect have told me the pitfalls of over vaccinating so we're not doing it any more. Our training club accepts titre tests and if we ever need to kennel our dogs we know somewhere that accepts TTs as well. I did see people on the LAST saying their dogs didn't do well on Eukanuba. We were going to switch to raw, but we were warned about stinky farts, which really put me off! I'll speak to OH about trying an alternative. Yeah, you can kinda see it a little bit in this pic. I photoshopped out the eye goo One more thing. She has some white heads on her tummy that aren't like normal whiteheads. They're rock hard. Have you seen that before? Do it
  17. If it was for cleaning his teeth, what about chicken necks or a frame? They don't last long round here!
  18. Oh, ok, woops Can you give him a Kong with something wholesome smeared inside it?
  19. Seems I asked the right person It was only on her feet that we used it. I forgot, we had some ABs we gave her too. We try to avoid letting them get so bad they need vet visits and ABs though! Joking aside, I think she is! If she's licking one of the others a lot in the same area we'll generally check to see if there's something there, but there often isn't. She's just really annoying They're separated when we're not around, so it's easy enough to stop her. Never noticed a discharge from her vulva. I've noticed the others sniffing her there a bit, but I thought it was the raw tail they were going for. No scratching her mouth or rubbing her eyes. From the get go I've always thought she had kinda red eyes, she had pretty bad kennel cough so I attributed it to that, but they never looked "normal". I'll try and get some. We use the pink liquid to clean/disinfect and then apply Neocort. On pretty much every skin complaint Trixie's about 22kgs. I'll up the dosage and see how we go. She'll eat anything [except ABs!] so the caps shouldn't be a problem. Bloody hell, there's a lot to think about! Thanks again. I take it you've been through the wars with your two? What age are they? The pound reckoned Trixie was two back in April. That's all we have to go by. Are yours from a breeder? Are Trixie's ailments the result of BYBing or can it happen to well bred dogs too? They get Eukanuba with fish/meat, bones a few times a week. Cabanossi or frankfurters at dog training. She got vacc'd and desexed in April.
  20. Thanks for getting back to me Her feet got really bad when we first got her. Top and bottom on all four. Again, it's something we've been through before with Angel, so we knew to wash them everyday in Malaseb, dry thoroughly and apply Neocort and make sure she wasn't allowed to lick them. They cleared up. Very slowly. It hasn't happened again thankfully. If you were to take her ear and fold it back, it's red along the fold. Angel tries to lick it a lot, but she does it to Chopper too. I don't think it's infected. I'm constantly wiping discharge from the corner of her eyes. Way more than the other two. Is it for cleaning or soothing? Angel won't eat the fish oil caps so we buy a huge bottle of Sprint Oil and squirt about 2 tbsps on their meals. It's not something we're too measured with. They don't always get it, sometimes they get it twice a day. I'm giving them the lower dose Phenergen once a day. I think it's 10mg. Flea dirt How dare you I honestly don't think she has any. I've never seen one on her. We kind overdo it with the flea treatments They get Spectrum and Advantix every 6-8wks and a Permoxin rinse after their baths. I don't think it's a major issue just yet, but I would like to get it under control before Summer fully hits. If it continues we'll look into having some tests done. Thanks for your help
  21. We got Trixie at the end of April, so we haven't gone through an allergy season with her yet. Chopper and Angel suffer a bit so we do the whole fish oil, weekly baths and anti-hystamine thing with them during the summer months. A few days ago we noticed Trixie was very red on her stomach so we bathed her and started her on the phenergen. I also noticed above her anus, at the base of the underneath of her tail is red raw. I think she's been chewing it. I put Kerri lotion on the affected areas sometimes, but she just licks it off. I wouldn't think anything of it if the other two were itchy as well, but they aren't. Any idea what it could be and any suggestions on anything else I could be doing to ease her discomfort? [Her diet hasn't changed in any way, so I'm pretty sure it's a grass/pollen thing]
  22. I'm just kidding, thanks though I have heaps of drive toys, some that have never been used If I ever get to a point with our drive training where I feel the toys are holding us back, I'll refer back to this thread and break out the sewing kit
