  1. Yeah, that was me, I've used it once But I did like it and will pull the finger out eventually. See here for excuses
  2. Woops, sorry Would a 50mm 1.8 on a Nikon not be the same as on a Canon
  3. Great pic Chezzyr I would've thought it was only for those kind of shots, but if you look here, these were taken with a 50mm also. It seems to be a really versatile lens. I've only used mine for portraits so far. Chezzyr I think the price has gone up since the dollar went crazy.
  4. You have a zoom lens, when you rotate it it goes in and out and gets you closer or further away from the subject. Sorry if I'm making this too basic Fully rotated and fully zoomed is 55mm, and the maximum aperture ie shallowest depth of field you'll get will be f5.6. If you don't zoom at all, the lens is at 18mm and you can shoot at f3.5 [even shallower DOF]. Put your camera on AV and watch the display as you zoom in and out, the f value will change. The pros around here will probably laugh at my crappy explanation, but hopefully it helps you understand. Don't be afraid to ask questions
  5. This lens will go to a maximum aperture of f3.5 at 18mm and f5.6 at 55mm. Does that make sense? It depends on how much or little you've zoomed. Not sure what the minimum aperture is. Same rationale applies to the other lens. ETA Woops, too slow
  6. Do you have a clicker? I've got an abundance of clicker training books if you want to borrow one and try it out? ETA I think you're being quite hard on yourself. The first time I met you I was quite amazed at how quickly she dropped when you told her to, considering she was obviously uneasy about Angel being so nearby. Perhaps I should've told you that at the time
  7. Gotta love the clone tool! I'd like to see you try and clean up one of Rocco1's drool pics though
  8. Thanks I don't have a true macro, only my clunky 50mm 2.5. I like that shot, but I want to set it up again and see if I can get better pics, better angles, better focus. It doesn't take much to make him drool so no excuses really!
  9. Sorry Kavik, you'll have to suck it up though, I'm not changing the poll, it took long enough to figure that one out You train my dogs for me and I'll photograph yours for you
  10. It was looking through your Flickr page that prompted this thread CD! Your pics are awesome. I've added you to the list of people I badger for exif data
  11. At least you've an OH you can ask to help you! Last time I roped mine in he misunderstood me when I said "throw the ball in my direction" ... he threw it right at me and Chopper ran straight into me at a hundred miles per hour I came tumbling down, my camera went flying and I busted my finger Any pics from today?
  12. Just for fun, not a dig at Vickie Looking at all these calendar entries got me thinking about how my dogs are holding me back. My garden is hideously ugly as a backdrop and the dogs that will cooperate for pics I'm slow to take to the beach/park cause they're not 100% reliable offlead I take small solace in the fact that I know how to Photoshop out long lines Can anyone else feel my pain?
  13. I've made this all too public, now I have to follow through
  14. It is hypothetical, but it's good to know. I always presumed that I had a leg to stand on if she was rushed onlead, even in an offlead area.
