How Many Of Your Dogs Do You Walk At Once?
ruthless replied to snow_wolf's topic in General Dog Discussion
Three now, four when we had Ivan. Every day at least one person tells me I have my hands full. Mostly I smile and nod, but I find it pretty dumb considering I'm walking the dogs on my left [on loose leads] so I clearly have one hand free! I would never walk them on anything other than separate leads. Far too risky IMO. -
Mine's Ruthless Photos, not Photography. Thanks

What's The Most Ridiculous Thing Your Dog's Been Called?

A picture I took of PAX's merle border collie is hanging in a local pet place. She was the subject of many an argument with people insisting that she's an Aussie Shepherd! -
What's The Most Ridiculous Thing Your Dog's Been Called?
ruthless replied to ~Rumour~'s topic in General Dog Discussion
People often say Chopper's a Pit Bull. They don't ask, they tell me! The funniest is when people ask if my dogs are related. Urm, they're different breeds!! -
I have been known to whisper "Daddy's an asshole" to them on occasions :D I had a dog staying with me for a bit and she broke into the pantry one day and tried to eat arborio rice. I swear to god one of my dogs came and warned me about it. It was hilarious. She really looked like she was dobbing on the 'intruder' Ivan was such a dobber. Every time he barked I knew it was because Chopper and Angel were up to no good. I miss him. He was a great early warning system

Is A Blue Stafford Breeder Unethical?
ruthless replied to mr.mister's topic in General Dog Discussion
Thats just the tip of the iceberg and the following should ring alarm bells too bred specifically for family pets the entire litter is on the main register blue to blue mating claim the pup is a pied when it's simply a black brindle with a white chest and possibly socks the non blue pups in a litter are heavily discounted (meaning they are sold closer to the going rate for an SBT pup) "carry the blue genes" "carry the blue pied gene" parents are in excess of 20kgs some 25kg's or more and it's promoted as a good thing "english staffy" blue makes a perfect show dog none of the pups are line bred and that's promoted as a plus when you can clearly see patches of hair missing in puppy pics (or any pics) when they can't spell "conformation" generations of blue big bitch with a massive head blue has a black nose when all they can talk about from a potential litter is the perfect colour they might produce when the majority of what they say about their adult dogs, consists of it's coat colour and "personality" "has an excellent pedigree" with not a CH, CD, ET or any other title to be seen big chunky bitch with a head like a boy I know I shouldn't, but some of them made me laugh out loud -

But just because the pup is blue doesn't mean the breeder is bad and/or unethical. Non blue-blue matings can produce blues, yeah? Warning signs are if both parents are blue, the price was exorbitant and the kennel name has blue in it. -
Feeding Two Dogs Bones In A Shared Yard
ruthless replied to Sam the man's topic in General Dog Discussion
Before we got Trixie and before we had runs Ivan, Angel and Chopper would be left with bones or kongs unsupervised during the day. Who knows what they got up to while we were at work. There were plenty of cuts and scratches on Chopper and Angel when we'd get home, but there were no major fights and no one ever needed a vet visit. I would still trust Chopper and Angel unsupervised with high value treats and toys. They don't fight. I wouldn't do it with Trixie around though. She doesn't share. I guess it depends on the dogs. Maybe see how they behave when you're home but out of sight and make a judgment call based on that. -
This thread's pretty old. Our current routine is Permoxin the dogs frequently and we also spray the garden every couple of weeks. I think we'll give them a Sentinel once or twice a year as well from now on though.

Oh I dunno, a certain DOLer's SBT ate her brand new Ruthless Leather collar within the first week ;) ;) ;) ;) Whose dog?? PMSL. I can't remember her DOL ID. She lives in QLD and owns Nova and Perry and Littleman. Littleman ate Perry's collar ;)

Oh I dunno, a certain DOLer's SBT ate her brand new Ruthless Leather collar within the first week ;) I haven't heard from the winner yet. Maybe I'm supposed to get her details from PACERS ;)

Nice one Lynn!

Ivan started refusing dry food when he got pancreatitis. We didn't know he was sick. We thought he was just being difficult.
-
I dunno, everyone thinks Angel's a boy if she's not wearing a girly collar!
-
Oh dear, I think you may have crossed the line there
-
Yeah, tripod or not, I wouldn't shoot an animate object with a SS that slow. Maybe Riley is a very slow breather!
-
Looks pretty sharp to me. To get a pic like Wags try shooting in a brighter [but diffused] light. The SS is a bit slow too. I know the camera was on the ground so you wouldn't suffer camera shake, but the dog's breathing so it could be moving slightly.

This is hosted by Flickr. When you upload to there they automatically sharpen the pics considerably. Obviously this was an in focus pic to begin with. The DOF is f2.8, not wide open. It was also taken in good light so the ISO wasn't too high. Nice pic Wags

How do you train them to not stare?! We just tell them to lie down in a pretty mean voice and I guess it makes them go into avoidance so they look away. No doubt there are better ways to train it!
-
Yup, we Permoxin the dogs daily and we spray the whole garden weekly. IMO fly traps attract flies that may have not been in your garden if it weren't for the stinky traps! Be grateful your dogs have a pooh corner, ours pooh an all and any park of the lawn. Grubs At least Trixie has the decency to do the majority of her poohs on our walks. She's even learned to pooh in the gutter if we're on the main street
-
When it's just us they lie on their bed. They're not allowed to stare at us eating. If there's leftover scraps of meat they get them when we're done. They don't lick the plates. If we have guests they go out in their crates.
