Are they human tablets? Do you give them the same dosage?

Last Summer Angel went from one skin problem to another for several months. The other day we noticed that she had pimples on her stomach and a rash under her armpit. I don't want her to suffer again and would like to combat it before it gets any worse. Is there an over the counter allergy remedy for dogs?

Anti-barking Collars Info Required

Cool, well I'll figure out what the actual problem is and take it from there. Chopper turning on Angel isn't an issue though, they're in separate runs and Ivan has the rest of the garden. Thanks again Erny -

Thanks Erny I presumed it was Chopper cause he did it in our last house. We'd been off work for about 4 wks last Christmas and the day we both went back to work he barked from the time we left till the time we got home without stopping. Our neighbour nicely called in and told us. We had an issue with him and Angel fighting as well so we kept them in the house during the day for the rest of our time there. We moved house about 2 months ago and built dog runs in the back garden. One morning instead of putting them in their runs just as I was walking out the door, I put them out about 10 mins before I left . As I was getting ready I heard continuous barking and when I looked it was Chopper. My OH says he was only doing it cause he knew I was still in the house, but it did make me think, I hope he doesn't do that all the time. So, even though I haven't spoken to the ranger yet, I have a good idea that Chopper barking may be the reason they were called. If it is, I'll set up a video camera and see if we can get proof. Our neighbour on the other side says there was one day last week when they were carrying on, but it didn't bother her. She's got 2 dogs and they used to complain about her dogs too. -

I've been reading some other threads and I keep seeing people say that the cause of the barking needs to be addressed before a solution can be found. But if it only happens when we're not home how do we find the right solution? -
Can someone please give me some info about anti-barking collars? I got home to find a note from the ranger. Our neighbour, rather than talk to us, has made a complaint and I suspect Chopper may be the culprit. Obviously, we'll be making sure we get proof, but in case this is the issue I'd like to know what our options are. I've asked the other neighbours and they said they've no issue with our dogs. FYI Chopper gets walked for 40 mins and I also throw the ball for him for 20 mins. When we leave for work he's given his breakfast and a kong/everlasting treat ball/rawhide/bone to keep him occupied. There's also several toys in his run. There are barking dogs in nearly every second house, so it's possible that one of them is setting him off.

No probs your dogs are fine to weight pull We wont have any now until next year as its getting too hot the dates will be posted on the web site & there is an info page on weight pulling We have harnesses available for you to borrow & a novice class for your dogs to learn in Yay! Let's all go and try it out  -
Hi, My vet told us to put the dogs on a kibble only diet for a week cause they all had dodgy guts since they got home from 4wks in kennels. The week is up, but I think it's the first time ever that they've all been consistently been doing solid small poohs. They're on Eukanuba. My question is does anyone feed their dogs only kibble? It's supposedly a complete food, so is there anything wrong with not adding meat or fish? Just curious

I know that coming into summer probably isn't the time to be bumping this, but having seen Kowai's pics I'm feeling enthusiastic again!!! Did anyone get in touch with the NSW Mal club? I can if no one else has yet... -

Re-teaching A Dog To Fetch
ruthless replied to ruthless's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Competition? Are you mad? We're a long way from that mate!!! He runs after it, either picks it up and drops it again immediately or just keeps running. If he brings it back he drops it at my feet. Funnily enough if he brings the tennis ball back to my neighbour he won't drop it for her. Strange. We used to use a squeaky ball... a cuz toy that he chewed the feet off... but it went missing a while ago. I wonder if I got another one would it make a difference to his enthusiasm levels. -
Books On How To Be A Strong Pack Leader
ruthless replied to ruthless's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I've read Cesars way and I'm almost finished The other end of the leash!! I'll check out the Leerburg site tho, cheers  -
Since coming back from holidays Chopper seems to have forgotten a lot of things including how to fetch. He'll run after it but then keep running and not bring it back. He used to be really obedient and ball obsessed, but now he won't fetch and he won't recall. The park we go to has a GSD there that he adores and will only chase the ball with him and only if the other owner throws it. If I bring just him and Angel, and there's no other dogs there, he'll fetch every time. If I bring him on his own and there's no other dogs there he'll do what he did this morning, run after the ball but not bring it back and just dick around completely ignoring me. I guess the root of the problem is leadership issues... did I just answer my own question?!

Anyone know any good ones? A little light reading for the long weekend  -
Chopper has 2 broken canines which the vet suggested either crowning or extracting. Personally I'd love to get gold crowns for them as I think he could really carry them off Stick in the mud hubby doesn't see the humour and wonders if we should leave them and see what happens or extract them and leave the poor bugger with gappy teeth. He's not even 2 yet! Talk about old before his time!!! Does he need them both to function normally? Chew, defend himself, etc. Anyone know why they both broke in the first place? Vitamin deficiency?

He went to the vet this morning [cause I found a sore on his paw that he'd licked so much it got infected] and OH told him about the poohs and ass dragging too. The vet said to put him on kibble only for a week. He'd been in kennels for 4 wks while we were OS and he didn't have a chance to gradually let his stomach adjust to a different diet when we got him home. He also cleaned his glands and said to give him husks daily. He also found that he's broken his other canine. Brilliant. The original broken one is now completely cracked to the root and open for infection. Anyone know a cheap canine dentist???
-
I know a trip to the vet is probably the answer, but in the meantime I'm just looking for peoples opinions... Chopper rarely does a normal pooh. He's either constipated or got diarrhoea most of the time. He had rotten farts on Supercoat, so we changed to Eukanuba for sensitive stomachs. He get's this with omega oil for breakfast and with fish or meat for dinner. Sometimes with an egg. Sometimes with yoghurt. He has bones, raw hide and dog biscuits occasionally. He had blocked anal glands about 7wks ago and they were cleaned out, but last night he was dragging his ass on the carpet again. My sudden concern was sparked by the fact that last night there were 3 very different poohs in his run when I got home. One jet black one that could possibly have been a bird pooh. One semi solid less dark one, but with some red, and one solid one with bits of blood. He's acting completely normally [if you can ever call him normal!] so I don't know if I need to be too worried... any thoughts?

Oh God CC, I'm so sorry. I'm lost for words...

Experts... In Here Please!

This morning I was at the park throwing the ball for Chopper when I saw a look in his eye that told me there was a dog running up behind me. I looked around and there was the oodle from the other day running straight for us. I kept talking to Chopper and got him to give me the ball and I just kept throwing it for him while the fluffy ran around the park with him. It was such a great moment for me. It showed me how far Chopper has come with accepting other dogs. Especially smaller ones. A few times the other dog got the ball, but she was submissive and let Chopper grab it out of her mouth and run off. A few times she ran right into him by accident, but he wasn't bothered, just kept bringing the ball back for me to throw. I'm so happy. I think he's finally starting to learn that it's ok to be around other dogs On a side note... I asked the lady what her dog was and she said it was a schnoodle and they got it from a "breeder" in Victoria. It had a really sweet personality, but my god, it was far from pretty. Dunno why anyone would have crossed those two breeds in the first place??? -
Hmm, Chopper doesn't kick, Ivan does a little bit, Angel does HEAPS... talk about small dog complex ;)
-
Yeah, Ivan's fine. Once he lifted his leg against the back of the sofa, but I caught him before anything came out! Angel and Chopper sleep in crates in our bedroom. I think that's enough time for them to be cooped up in there. It's bad enough that they're alone all day without being crated when we're at home too. I think that'd be unfair. By unsupervised I didn't mean we were out and they we alone in the house. I'd never do that. We'd come home to utter destruction! I just mean if we're in the kitchen they'll go to the hall or the living room and have a pee. It's as easy as keeping the kitchen door closed, but sometimes if I'm in one room and OH is in another we both think the other is watching the dogs. It's all down to us being more vigilant I guess. Is there anything we can spray on the carpet to deter them in the first place? I think as soon as it happens once it'll just keep happening. Also, if we know which one did it and we catch them a few minutes after. What do we do so they learn it's unacceptable behaviour? Also, is there a way to train them to toilet only in a certain spot in the garden and not kick up so much grass afterwards to cover it?

Sorry about Girl Dog Juice. It must hurt. Take comfort in the fact that you gave her a good home in her final days. ;)
