  1. To be honest, Frankie is actually really good itchy wise, she just sems to lick her feet a fair bit and every now and then will open up a pad which is a pain as they take so long to heal. She does not have hot spots or chronic itching so even tho she is very allergic she is still a happy wee pooch. She had her 1st 0.1ml injection this morning along with a zytec and appeared ok - we will see what happens as we get further down the program I guess. C3 at 8 weeks, C5 at 14 weeks and pro heart at 14 weeks (I think). Putting her on an elim diet of Roo and ZD 6 months ago has helped a heck of a lot and I swim her every day in the river which seams to help as well. Frankie is lucky she got us for owners (DINKS) ......... Mandy is just awesome!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. Yes, Mandy Burrows is fantastic, not good news about poor old Frankie, she scored a 4 on almost everything tested on the intradermal sheet:( I guess she gets an A+ for allergy testing tho:)
  3. No I had it for sometime, but I also have allergy issues which has made training a bit difficult. Is it easy to use? can you turnyour TV on with the remote? Yes I think most people would be ok without any guidance from Steve with his long distance learning package, but having said that 1 hour with him is invaluable, personally if you are within driving distance I would pay the extra and have the time with him. a couple of excerts from emails to Steve: 1) Took my wife down the park / river last night with Frankie, she could not believe the difference in her when I let Frankie off and there was a heap of people / dogs around, very impressed and still coming on nicely. S: Excellent man, that makes me happy to hear! 2) Also when I give her the come command, it is not just a saunter over, it is run as fast as I can to get to you - is this normal? People look at us like we are nutsJ S: yes! rofl, that's perfect! Some people report the dog crashing into their legs, so start training the sit on the run 3) Hey mate, we going awesome, recall while playing with other dogs is happening - I would have said this was previously impossible S: Yeah I heard you thinking that, its my job to deliver the unbelievable from peoples dogs! Convinced yet? you would not believe the positive value Frankie has on other dogs!
  4. You don't need hope, just K9 and an E collar - trust me, now wheres my commission Steve
  5. Frankie is getting intradermally tested as we speak, pretty sure she also has food intolerances to chicken and beef:(
  6. Abby my gsd is exactly like that too................ , problem is she is pretty close to having a higher value for playing with other dogs than her food in obedience training.....does not have enough prey drive to utilise in training, works best for food....but still would rather hang out with the other dogs She has a prong on her but maybe I might consider an e-collar.... Frankie the Rotty had almost zero prey drive also, motivated for food but not under distraction. It is just not possible to describe how good the E collar is, I am constantly being told what an obedient dog I have off lead, whereas 3 weeks ago she was a bloody menace Off lead and with other dogs, the only way to get her, was to catch her and put her on the lead, not a desirable situation and one that lent itself to her only being offlead where I knew there was no distraction so I didn't have to worry about her taking off - now its me calling my dog away from other people who have the same problem we used to have Its actually at the stage already where I have can tell her walking past another dog to "forget about it" without actually having to stim her and she will keep coming with me off lead Oh did I mention how good her recall is ;)
  7. M, you might have to show em our secret training method
  8. You know it! The best thing is that when you communicate effectively with Fido, both of you can move in a positive direction very quickly. I know what you mean about being blown away too.....
  9. Hi Meriment, well we might as well share the stories while we are at it I too used K9 while he was over a few weeks ago as my 18 month old Rotty has a massive positive value for other dogs (no aggression, just wants to hang out with dogs and play) she was an absolute nightmare for the wife to walk (lunging to see the other dogs) plus we could not let her off the lead as she would just take off and her recall was terrible under distraction. Under no distraction all the sit, SAAD, stay and come was fine but as soon as we saw a dog oh man "I just gotta go and see that other dog for a play" was Frankies idea.... Well that was 3 weeks ago, I had purchased a collar sometime ago from Steve with the Long distance learning package but was having trouble on the most basic step of collar tightness and stim level plus business commitments had been make life hectic. Steve mentioned he was coming over so I asked for his assistance to just get me started, on the basics of stim level and collar tension - man, 1 hour for Steve with Frankie at the park and I could see the difference immediately under distraction!! Since then, I got 2 weeks of solid training in before I had a problem with the collar and water causing a failure - yes they are water proof (I contacted Steve / Innotek and it was replaced immediately under warranty - Innotek were awesome to deal with!!) and I was back in action late last week. OK, so I had seen the improvement with Frankie and was extremely happy with progress in such a short amount of time, I decided it was time to show off my new found obedient friend to my wife Dee, so off down the river / park we go yesterday and low and behold there is about a dozen dogs and about 50 people having BBQs, kids running around etc etc, Wifey is horrified I am taking the lead off her not because she will hurt anybody but because people are intimadated by Rotties and this crazy girl just gotta play....... My wife was absolutely stunned at the change in Frankie, comes when she is told, sits, stays (10mins is no prob, out of sight is no prob...) but most of all, she comes when she is told to, off lead with a massive amounts of distraction!!! Next was, ok wifey, take her on the lead past the dogs, the lunging is almost non existent (with me on the controller), another week or 2 and I am positive it will be gone. Finally, can't help myself, but after only one week of training down the park off lead, people were telling me what a well trained dog I had!! Sure, I had spent a lot of time previously training her but it was all under no distraction and this meant nothing in the real world until Steve and the E collar came along. I can only imagine what Frankie is going to be like in another 6 weeks worth of training.... Steve, you have just made my friendly big goof the best ambassador to her breed, friendly and obedient, you are a champ my friend. Thanks Al and Dee
  10. Is Moses in a boat plant the same as Moses in a cradle? ie Tradescantia spathacea ? If so are all dogs allergic to it? We have a heap of it in the garden at the moment and my one yr old Rotty has itchy paws that are getting little sores on them? and I am wandering if I have stumbled across the culprit? Cheers Al
  11. The toerag vomited again last night at 3.00am.....she eating palms and stuff in garden when I investigated contents, bloody lovely at 3.00am Dun think its the vegies now....
  12. My 6 month Rotty pup gets cooked mashed vegies but she is occasionally vomiting on them, as soon as I stop vegies her tummy seems to clear up. Vegies are generally mashed pumpkin, carrot, cauliflower etc. Is it ok to feed cauliflower, I am wondering if it is this or perhaps the mashed vegies sitting in the fridge for 3 days? Any ideas? Cheers
  13. THanks K9, so if building drive with food, is it still necessary to hide all toys, no walks etc?
  14. My Rotty is at 20 weeks and in the same boat, she is too lazy to be naughty.....
  15. K9, if I try building prey drive with food, is it just the same as with the toy where she will get 3 or 4 treats for catching them and then at the end you put the last big juicy treat down the front of your jacket effectively hiding it like you do with the toy and ending the session? Al
  16. Good work Claire / Clare? wish my mutt would show a bit more interest, looks like it gonna be plan 2 coming along next month........ Al

  22. I have access to a very large fully fenced warehouse that also has a large grassed outdoor area, covered outdoor concrete area or obviously inside if necessary, would be suitable for us lot if required - only downer is it is in Rockingham which is a bit of a drive if you are interested. Obviously we would have toilet facilities and I can open up the offices for coffee tea etc. I have access to it at short notice so if you want........ Al
