I can tell you RU GROUP 3 was Hung Vizsla Kenoz Natway Ochre owned by Felicity Jones
-
I always ask them to tell me a bit about themselves and why they chose the breed, and share a few e-mails back and forth, you get a feel for what sort of potential owners they are, then a phone call and I make up my mind. No need for a reference as anyone can get a good reference off someone, doesn't mean its true. Alarm bells for me is if they are wanting a female and they have other entire dogs, don't know anything about the breed, work long hours and seem impulsive etc.......

Unless your dog has something really special to offer, breeders will go for well known stud dogs with proven results in conformation and with a good record in producing quality offspring. If you really want him used you should start showing him and attain his title, if he looks good you will create some interest, if he has good breeding behind him even better.

how very sad, was hoping for better news RIP little boy

3 breeds 50 dogs, they really are taking "to improve the breed" to the extreme!! Don't understand why any ethical breeder would need to have 50 dogs and keep breeding them
-
If I was looking at buying a puppy of my chosen breed, I certainly wouldn't be going to a breeder that had two other breeds as well, and if they had 3 litters all at once I wouldn't go near them, and that is just my opinion and I am entitled to it

a bark occassionally could be a little distracting for some dogs, but so is all the cheering and shouting and clapping ringside from rent a crowd, its something a "show dog" has to get used to. I love to see dogs out there really enjoying the experience and a bark now and then from an enthusiastic dog is just part of a dog show
-
won't get into specifics but a very ignorant and ill informed response, blaming show people now for one sick dog. Breeders of Show dogs have reputations to uphold, we sell dogs all over Aus and some to overseas, the health of our dogs is paramount, believe me word travels fast in the dog world, that is why we do all the health testing before we would even consider breeding. Most ethical registered breeders do breed to improve the breed, can't speak for the breeder you bought your puppy from, but she did offer you a refund, so that to me is an ethical response to the situation. Apart from letting you keep the dog which she wouldn't do, what else could she have done to make you feel satisfied with the whole situation?
-
OW sorry to hear about your dog, just sheer bad luck, as with human genetics, no guarantee... I would have given a full refund, but I would have also let you keep the dog, no point in taking back a dog just to rehome it again or pts, when the dog is in a perfectly good, caring home, willing to give the best vet care, jmo.

Salivation & Unsteady On Back Legs
Bokezu replied to k9angel's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Sad to hear your boy has IMT, I and a few others on DOL have lost dogs to this devastating disease, although curable it is not something that can be cured quickly, and is a long road to recovery. My thoughts are with you, and big cuddles to your boy, hoping for a full recovery for him. -
If they want to advertise the fact they won a BIS at an open show they should say BIS (Open) otherwise it is misleading

I may sound negative to you Bob.....but there are a lot of people breeding now that are doing it for the wrong reasons. One breed has well over 100 puppy notices on Dol and 711 breeders listed and the Cavs (the breed the op is interested in) has 343 breeders listed and 58 puppy notices atm.... I worry about all these puppies, some from breeders that haven't got a clue...don't do any health testing etc and are in it purely for the money, not saying the op is in that league at all. There are plenty of breeders around out there, and some are unfortunately breeding lots and lots of puppies with no thought to improving the breed, just see it as easy money. My apologies to kchogan for sounding negative.

I find it strange you haven't even got a dog of your chosen breed yet, but you have decided you want to breed. You need to have your breed for a few years to understand what they are like, you need to show your first dog so you know what the standard requires and what you are doing regarding your breed, you need to put the right dog with your bitch to improve on the breed standard. Why do you want to breed? Its not as simple as you think, requires lots of time owning and understanding your chosen breed before you should attempt breeding JMO

Dogs Victoria Wanting To Take More Decisions From Breeders.
Bokezu replied to Steve's topic in Breeders Community
As guidelines I don't see how anyone could possibly have a problem with the ages of the bitches they wish to breed. What is the problem if you have one litter a year? when you go to the breed pages and see over 100 puppy adds for one particular breed and some of these have multiple litters...... -

Have not got a problem with 24 months for my breed, and I agree it should be Australia wide and not just Vic -
Possible Hip Dysplasia In Amstaff?
Bokezu replied to DerRottweiler's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
My lab is a rescue so no idea about parents but I doubt it. My vet thinks she is a purebred but from what I know of her previous circumstances I doubt she would have been papered. It is risk you take with rescued dogs. thanks -
Possible Hip Dysplasia In Amstaff?

In terms of the Amstaff, yes, both parents x-rayed and scored, he is from a reputable breeder. That doesn't always eliminate the possibility though. thanks -
Possible Hip Dysplasia In Amstaff?
Bokezu replied to DerRottweiler's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Off topic a little but had the parents of the Rotti and the Amstaff and Lab referred to been hip x-rayed and scored? Not being funny at all, just wondering if other breeds are vigilant with hip scoring before breeding, particularly as these breeds are more prone to HD. -
lots of newspaper spread around outside the whelping box with an open end they can come out once they are moving around, they wake up and start coming out to wee. There are always a couple that start to wee as soon as they wake up, I keep putting them out on the paper ....they soon get the hang of it.

Congratulations on your boys title! I love this kind of story

CONGRATULATIONS TO YOUR WONDERFUL MUM!!! Will be a handful once they make the 4 week mark!! but wonderful to have 14 bundles of joy to love! enjoy

We buy minced beef in bulk and find it economical. Our dogs eat all RMB's the usual wings, necks, frames, offal, lamb flaps all bought in bulk, and mince is a small part of their diet, but a great source of protein and great to mix other ingredients through. Nothing at all wrong with that.

l rang the vet and they wont tell me anything without her permission She wont give it either...To be honest im lucky i got the report it took a few reg letters to get it. She died approx 1 mth after ;) If the information you present here is 100% correct then you have nothing to answer for. They nor the vet are forthcoming with any "in depth" information. The next step is theirs. Do nothing and say nothing to them. If they wish to take it further they will have to provide a hell of alot more evidence than what they are "selectively" telling you. Also seek some legal advice but do not tell the other dog owners this. This way you will be ready in case they take it further. At the moment they are using scare tactics. I would agree with this. You have no information to suggest you are liable at all, until they can produce evidence of pre existing condition you cannot be held responsible for what caused "their" dogs death. They either produce evidence of this or shut up.
