  5. thanks for that RuralPug.. He is really bad again tonight, I rang the vet to see if I could give him extra pain relief...taking him in the morning , that really does seem like it could be........
  6. Sienna today with 11 days to go..........I'm thinking 8....will know Wed when we have an x-ray done
  7. yes no exercise, bland food...this morning he is really good, he slept on the bed and yelped once when Kevin rolled over, so there is some pain there.....but where? he got up and walking running like nothing had happened. He is sleepy because of the meds and still looks a little awkward at times when he walks, but he is waggy and eating, so things are looking good. Would be good to know exactly what happened when he jumped but we may never know. Now fingers crossed that all is well when he comes off pain relief in a few days
  8. I've picked him up as his temp went down and he voided...he is walking now and eating and wagging the tail He is on pain relief for 5 days...vet has no idea and hoping he will be fine. If the symptoms return when he finishes his pain relief I will be asking for full investigations..... fingers crossed
  9. well I'm home with no answers yet, but he is a little better, he jumped into the car and out of the car before I could stop him. The vet examined him all over and there was no reaction of pain at all from his spine or hind legs. His temp is up which means some part of him is inflamed, he has been given pain relief and needs to stay in to be observed . He hasn't pee-ed or had a drink since 6 pm last night. He will have bloods taken Monday if there is no improvment. If he drinks and pees and temp goes down he can come home tonight, if not he will stay in on an iv drip overnight The vet was non specific about what it may be, she did mention spondylitis and the other one I can't remember.. Vet is going to ring me later
  10. We have no 24 hr vet here but I did not ring the emergency number I took him outside on lead and he still walked funny and sat straight down on the cold grass shaking. I settled him in the crate but he looked in pain poor boy.......so pain means more likely ruptured disc than stroke, but we'll leave that up to the vet, who will prob just give pain relief and anti inflammatory This morning I took him out again on lead, walking just a little better but still obviously in a lot of pain, again he sat straight down shaking and wouldn't-couldn't toilet poor boy have to now wait for vet to open and ring them as they don't accept anyone just turning up without an appointment.......hoping my beautiful boy is going to be ok..
  11. thanks persephone and Everythings Shiny and Erny......
  12. thanks for the link smooch...unfortunately it sounds like that is exactly what it could be! I really hope it isn't, as this boy is an import and only 17 months old, just starting a promising show career......
  13. I am really concerned and I don't really know what he has done to himself! about an hour ago Csan my 17 month old HV was startled as my OH walked in and the door slammed shut because of the wind...he sort of jumped back and just stayed in the one position and couldn't move, his back was arched and his back legs looked really bowed, he didn't move for a couple of mins so I eventually coaxed him outside because I wanted him to move, he was walking really bandy legged and still with a slight arch in his back. He stood in the one spot outside and looked really uncomfortable so I put the lead on him and bought him back in, he balked at the 4 stairs but did come up and I put him in the crate for a while hoping it was just some sort of spasm that would correct itself. Got him out just now and he is still the same really uncomfortable and in pain, had a quick feel around and he is being very stoic and not letting me know where it hurts, but I was being really gentle because I really didn't want to hurt him anyway. He is normally so vibrant and happy but he is laying in the crate looking very sad. Could it be a ruptured disc? Could he have twisted something inside? I really don't know, we have no vets open after hours but can call an emergency number, would rather take him in the morning to my own vet. I googled ruptured disc and they say you can give aspirin which I haven't got but could go out and get some, does anyone know the dosage for a dog? Any ideas what it could be? I'm thinking ruptured disc.....
  14. had a look online and after reading a page of her writing I just wanted to read more.....so ordered it Thankyou for the link
  15. Does anyone sign up for 6 week pet insurance for their puppies? if so how much and with who? thanks.
  16. I agree with this, as long as you can let him go when you know he has had enough... I am so sorry that you are in this situation, my heart goes out to you and your beautiful little boy xxxxxx
  17. I have had 2 Xrays, both times the count was wrong. Last one was done on the newest machine in Australia. First time count was out by 2, second was out by 1. thanks for letting me know that Sway....I was told it was 100% accurate....not by the vet though they did offer me a specialist to do it at twice the price but I declined...normal x-ray will be around $150, the specialist senographer will be $350 I think she said, may have been $330......

  22. Good news for everyone so far..good luck with the ultra sound SBT 101 :D Sienna is pregnant for sure but haven't as yet had that confirmed. I have been told 10 days before due date for ultra sound is ideal for getting a positive number. Do you all agree with that? I definately want to know how many are there before whelping this time.
