  1. Given other things that go on in the dog world, I could care less that someone is showing a desexed dog....big deal. so you would trust these people, you would buy a puppy off them? they lie, they probably lie about doing health tests and who knows what else. I hear what you are saying as in other things that go on, but surely that doesn't mean we just turn a blind eye to everything and let everyone cheat, thats not the way to do it!! If people had spoken up or complained earlier, maybe there would not be the problems now that you are referring to. If anyone knows things are not as they seem they should speak up or lodge a complaint. And just for the record it is a big deal, they are lying and cheating. Everytime someone artificially enhances their dog they are also breaking the rules. Is that right? that could include any products that mask (chalk) put on a dog or giving a dog those bush essences or rescue remedy to settle them for shows. If you are going to be a stickler for rules then do so in it's entirety and not pick and choose. P.S. "these people" probably drive 5 clicks over the speed limit as well. I'm not a stickler for anything, but don't like cheats, not picking and choosing a cheat is a cheat.
  2. how cute are these guys? just gorgeous!!!!! Congratulations on a lovely litter
  3. I agree with this, but also have to say that I, as an exhibitor and observer, use the showring for assessing breeding stock - not my own, but others... looking at lines and patterns etc... I don't tend to look at what is winning in the ring, only what i think would work for me if i am on the lookout for a new dog or a potential mating...however, this could just as easily be done by also looking at desexed progeny, and actually would open up a whole new world of showing because we'd be seeing more than one or two of the puppies etc. I agree, it's time to move past it, because you can look at desexed stuff and it can help you (plus maybe it would increase show numbers?) if you do use the show ring to assess breed stock. makes sense, but at the moment it is against all rules to lie and say your dog is entire, when in fact your dog is spayed/neutered. If the rules need to change so be it, but at the moment it is called cheating don't care what slant people put on it

  5. lovely puppa's SBT101!!!!! love the white and black ones...they are all gorgeous my guys are 4 weeks and wreaking havoc :D fully weaned as Sienna got mastitis, but she jumps in once or twice a day for a few seconds to give them a quick slurp
  6. I would continue showing, but stop the show training, she's had enough. Make each show fun, and with each show she will become just a little more relaxed and happier. Some dogs hate show training, particularly dogs around your dogs age, she's only a baby and already bored with it all. Some dogs enjoy a show, some dogs don't, they're all different, and we can't create a good showy dog, they are born. Just think of a teenager being made to do something they don't like!!
  7. its not about if desexing is better for your dog, we all know there are times when of course you are better off desexing your dog or bitch! you then can't show that dog unless you break the rules.
  8. Why do some show people blatantly break rules? Double standards hell yeah :p you can tell me all day why they do it bla bla bla but it is wrong and it is breaking the rules, I just don't understand. These people are dishonest, and they are LYING everytime they fill in a show entry for their dogs!! people like this make me sick eta it is not about "the judge wouldn't know" etc...and its not about "they do it in UK" its about being honest, if all these people want to show neutered dogs lobby the rule makers and have the rules changed!!!!!!!!!!
  9. poor little mites, they're missing their mum and siblings. If it were me, I would be mixing up some leerburg formula ......to give them a good start and because its got more calories they will settle really well after. They also need some mince, chicken or beef, softened with some warm water or formula, and some rehydrateable Advance. They need to feel warm and comfortable, I always have a couple of soft blankets for my puppies to snuggle into, on top of their bedding. They also need some things in their box to play with such as a couple of small cartons to climb on, an old pillow and things like that. Have some paper outside their sleeping area and sometimes they will go on it sometimes not. They are too young to toilet train, but when they wake put them on the paper and they will get used to it. Some people will say they are old enough for all solid diet, but if you want them to settle mix them up some formula, you can add some mince to the formula as well but let them have a nice drink on its own 1 cup goats milk if no goats milk you can use diluted carnation evaporated milk (not low fat) 1 cup whole milk yoghurt 1 egg yolk 1/2 teaspoon karo syrup or glucose made from corn syrup good luck, hope they settle for you
  10. I have 2 stud dogs both were virgins mated to virgins, and they worked it out just fine. My import boy who is the sire of my current litter of 11, looked a bit lost at first, but I just let him work it out, and there was no stopping him. Mother nature gives them a guiding hand, just be close enough if they get into trouble. Good Luck
  11. mmmmmm let me see Knuckles or Brad?....really hard to choose
  12. OMG!!! that made me have a huge coffee splutter ;) sooo funny, but its something I can imagine myself doing too
  13. lovely looking bubbas...Congratulations again!!
  14. they all look wonderful SBT101 and love their names too!! this pic is just adorable
  15. Parvo is always 'around' unfortunately, we get lulled into a false sense of security because we don't hear of cases and think it's not out there, and poof..when we do hear, now it's 'around'. Hence the reason why there is no point getting bent out of shape about it really....I can bring it home from a dog show, or the supermarket. that is the reality. There is no higher risk at a dog show than a parking lot. Remember, the MAJORITY of the dogs attending shows are fit and healthy and innoculated....the dogs that stroll through the carparks and on the sidewalks may not be so.....where is the bigger potential risk then? And of course whenever you go to the vet...... Even if you have a vet come out who knows what their last patient had! yes the vet would be the worst place to take mum or babies, but sometimes its unavoidable, but only if you have to. I realise parvo is everywhere, I just take a few precautions thats all, I respect other breeders who don't feel the need to do that, they obviously have had a lot more litters than me. I'm careful but not pedantic ;)
  16. WOW!! CONGRATULATIONS Stolzseinrotts!! ;) 13 puppies! Amazing! get some sleep, and then we'll have some pics ;)
  17. No definately not incompetant Angelsun, you are willing to take that risk, I am not. I guess because there is parvo around atm is a bit unsettling. Everyone has different ideas on these things, I don't breed often so I am very careful when I do.
  18. wonderful news SBT101 !!!!!!! was sooooo hoping that would be the case good news about the little runt girl too Sienna was the same, once she started really eating and getting that good quality food into her she never looked back
  19. I do have to say my bitch was flown from interstate, I met the breeder at the show, picked her up, she was shown and three days later had a pup. The bitch was returned as she was xrayed as not being pregnant, and due to the fact she had VERY convincing phantoms there was nothing unusual about the large boobs. There was only one pup. So I guess it could have been me! I would never have had her there if I had of known, and she wouldn't have been flown back if the breeder had known. Yep I know of a bitch who was confirmed not pregnant who ended up with 3 pups! Her owner came home from a dog show (the bitch hadn't been entered due to the possibility of being pregnant) to find 3 pups and a happy bitch in the backyard!! So not whelped at a show but could have been quite easily. This bitch also was a classic with milk boobs and false pregnancies! Quick question to those who keep the bitch at home from mating- how do you exercise her? Or do you have a large yard/property to run her on? I have property to run her on, pups are two weeks old now, but she won't be going anywhere until they are 8 weeks old. I also have refused puppy buyers a visit that want to come and visit puppies, they have to wait until after 6 weeks. I am not that fussy at all, just very careful when it comes to my bitches and puppies
  20. CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Well done to Nikki!! Wonderful sizes
  21. yes, this whole thing has made me furious, just thinking "breeders" would be so inconsiderate to the needs of their dogs.. They need to get their priorities right, absolutely terrifying for a poor bitch in labour
