  1. Shekina, I'm in your area (Granton) and my 3 dogs have all got this as well, I had my young girl (7 months) to the vet last night because she was really worrying me, wasn't really coughing just trying to be sick all the time, vet didn't know what it was and has given her antibiotics and anti inflamatory, she's so much better today, but Rauri has a horrible cough when he actually coughs not that often, all 4 of my dogs are vaccinated so I guess they get a milder strain. I got an e-mail last night from a friend in Deloraine asking if I had heard about the kennel cough sweeping the show circuit at the moment, I hadn't heard anything of it. Jazz,( my girl that started coughing first) her last outing was to the Royal Hobart Show, so I thought she must have picked it up from there. Shekina you don't do the dog shows do you? Do your dogs mix with other dogs at all?
  2. My boy had a couple of really bad wounds from another dog, one on his cheek and one on the back of his neck, this was three weeks ago, he had antibiotic injections(2) and a course of antibiotics, he wouldn't let me near them, but I have a bitch here (2 years) who insisted on cleaning his wounds every day and he loved her doing it (she was very thorough, even nussling at them) I let it go not knowing if she was actually helping the wounds or not, but they have healed up beautifully, I was worried about the swelling though, took over a week to go down, but they look great now. Good Luck
  3. Will try it on my boy and see if it works
  4. Lets hope with all those tablets she starts getting better real soon She is just the most adorable Boxer, just beautiful
  5. My OH bought a bag of smoked bones last week, the dogs didn't particularly like them and they started to splinter as soon as they started chewing them so I threw them out. They are so dangerous, they should be banned.
  6. Fingers crossed peibe that they find out what this is real soon. Does sound like they have ingested something that has made them sick, hope it shows up in tests. Good luck and healing vibes to both of them
  7. That is so amazing Thank you so much for the link, I missed Australian Story because I was watching Idol Thanks mita
  8. Hi Hazz, what is the difference between a Bowen and Chiro?
  9. Hi there, sorry I have not been on line today. Lola slept most of yesterday, got up a couple of times to toilet and ate quite well she was able to move her neck a little. She slept all night and when she woke up started moving her neck without any problems. I have kept a close eye on her all day, and she is back to normal, I have had to stop her running and playing as much as she would have liked. I have watched her walking and running through out the day and she has no signs at all that there is anything at all wrong with her movement. I will continue to watch her carefully over the next few days, but at the moment she is her normal perky self. So thankful that everything is ok, I was so scared that it was something major phew.....
  10. I am back from vet, who said she must have hurt it playing. She has had a shot of valium, a shot of anti-inflammatory and is very dopey but still trying to stay awake and holding the head right up pointing the nose in the air, she looks so funny. I am soooooo relieved, I was so worried. I can call the vet anytime if I am worried or take her back tommorrow if she is no better.
  11. Thanks shmoo, I can't find anything on google apart from some sort of meningitis. I will give her a gentle massage, but the thing is she looks so in pain its awful to see her like that, her little head way up in the air and her face really grimaced in pain
  12. We went to bed about two hours ago and Lola seemed fine, her and my older boy had been running around playing quite rough. She was sleeping on the bottom of the bed and I heard her wimpering a few times before I woke up properly. I had a look and she was holding her head up like her neck is really stiff. I felt all around her neck etc. but she really cried when I tried to bend her head down. She got off the bed all right and walks ok so I took her out to the toilet, she is walking fine but holding the head right up. Took her back to bed but she wouldn't put her head down, she did rest her head over to the side after a while but she is in pain. I don't know if she has hurt her neck playing or if its something more sinister as in meningitis, or now I'm thinking tetanus, I'm going to google that right now. I am so worried, I will take her to the vet as soon as they open but has anyone any idea what this could be?
  13. Very interesting. I have a young dog 11 months that eats very little else but chicken wings! He is a very picky eater and really loves chicken wings, we have tried everything, so at the moment to keep some weight on that is his staple. He does have a variety of other stuff, but very small amounts. I would be horrified to think I am killing him! I do agree about with over vaccination, and I also know some people over worm their dogs as well.
  14. Thanks all for the suggestion about taking the sample, I hadn't thought to take one with me. Hopefully that will pick-up if there is an infection. She is fine, eating well, full of energy so I'll just wait till Friday, thanks for your help
  15. Thanks LittleMiss thats exactly what I was thinking, I hope thats what it was anyway. I'll be at the vet on Friday so I'll ask him.
  16. My little girl is only a bit over 3 months and rarely needs to go overnight, I guess all puppies are different and it would depend on when they have their last drink and what time they go to bed, and what time they get up.
  17. Lola was on the couch asleep, lying next to my husband when she weed all over the couch. She is toilet trained and had been out to the toilet about half an hour before. She was still lying down and asleep when she did it. I've never known a pup to do this before, she was tired because she had been playing flat out with Rauri for ages. Should I be worried? Could she have a bladder infection? Or is this something puppies do?
  18. How sad for you Tunsa, he looked like a lovely man, a lovely tribute. RIP Boffa
  19. I use premium kibble as a back up, like to give the dogs a raw diet, but its very handy to have the kibble if you haven't got time or are running low, dogs don't really like it that much, out of all of them they like Eagle Pack the best.
  20. My boy is 9 months and has been half cocking his leg for a couple of weeks now, he is gradually lifting his leg higher, evert time I see him do it, I think how fast he's growing-up.
  21. The dried liver from Animal Tuckerbox comes in a big bag for $15, my dogs just LOVE it. I used to cook the liver and dry it myself, but they like the bought one.
  22. Norskgra its the first time I've seen a picture of your Brock, he looks amazing, so shiny, so gorgeous, he's lovely.
  23. Hi MilotheGSP he is one seriously CUTE puppy! Love GSP's. He is gorgeous
