  1. There is no point in just having one litter to keep a puppy from a bitch you haven't even bought yet. Its not quite that easy anyway. You have to read and study your breed and know the standard well. You have to have all health tests done on your bitch, she has to be a good speciman of her breed. You then have to find a compatible stud to breed her with and pay all costs. The financial outlay to breed one litter is considerable, and thats if all goes well. I won't go in to detail of all relevant costs. If you are getting a bitch of your chosen breed, look forward to that, enjoy her company and let her have a happy life without thinking of getting her pregnant just for the heck of it. Maybe in 3 or 4 years when you know more about the breed, and your girl in particular, you may still decide to go ahead and breed her. The breeding you are wanting to do is for all the wrong reasons, you need to own your breed for a few years before you consider breeding, just enjoy your dog first, and learn all you can about the breed, her lines and canine reproduction, you might then decide to get a prefix and have a litter! Good Luck
  2. at just 6 weeks today this is our keeper Bokezu Sweet Sugar Magic "Crunchi"
  3. my guys are 6 weeks today!!! haven't taken their 6 week pics yet, but have one of my pic boy I took yesterday this is Bokezu Sweet Sugar Magic aka "Crunchi" who is a real character
  4. SBT101 they are just ADORABLE!!!!!!! you must be soooo happy with them
  5. is that because you think 8 is minimum age to microchip? I was going to get mine done monday at 6 weeks (microchipped) think I had the last two litters done at 6.
  6. I know this has probably been done to death, but as I haven't had a litter for 2 1/2 years was wondering what the latest info is on age of first vaccination, is it still 6 weeks? I'm asking here as I think breeders know more than vets at times about these things. So should I get my litter done at 6, 7 or 8 weeks? comments appreciated
  7. thanks bel, thats ok if you can leave after its finished!
  8. We don't have sweepstakes in Tas so excuse my ignorance Do they have one everyday at the Royal or do you go in on a special day for the whole group? Would not be worth going in for a whole day with a baby if its on a different day to the breed judging
  9. These Rainbow ones weight just 5grms each and remind my of new shoelaces in regards too softness. Fit neck size 16-29cm, 5mm wide. These Spotty ones are 7 grams each, these are thicker and stiffer. Fit neck size 16-29cm, 1cm wide. I have some others I have not listed yet, they fit 20-30cm and only come in a pack of 4 and weight 9grams each. It's difficult trying to work out what quantity to list collars in for people due to various litter sizes. I had thought of the buy 1 at a time etc, but I found that was not what many wanted. I'm always open to ideas. they're both nice Sway!! a pk of 6 would be ok, those with larger litters could go for a pk of each, I really like them
  10. They look the ones Bokezu bought from the other place to me, in fact it's the same picture. yes the same collars, I paid $5.50 each
  11. ;) think a few people in this thread probably show desexed bitches ;)
  12. this thread has opened my eyes to just how "unethical" some show people are
  13. well people keep commenting on how to break the rules and lie ;)
  14. thanks Sway, they are a delightful bunch, and not as much trouble as my previous two litters of 6 and 7..... maybe the calm before the storm?
  15. I forgot about this thread...I got two packs of 10, as they only come in 10 colours I have one different collar as I have 11 puppies. They have been wearing them since 3 weeks, they're 5 weeks now and they will fit them until they go home at 8 weeks. But they came in plain wrapping, so no idea where they came from......
  16. I can remember reading an explanation from a dog friendly accomodation once stating after each persons stay with a dog they have to by law have the whole room professionally cleaned and carpet cleaned as well. I have also read on a blurb from another place that dogs are not allowed in the rooms because of health regulations..so unclear as well what the actual health regulations are, but think its the first one re cleaning.
  17. Temporarily, for sure. Showing with hormonal implants is one issue that still needs a decision one way or the other. Aaaaaahhhhhhhh, and don't forget the vasectomy. Vasectomy and fake implants are two very real alternatives that allow for dogs to be shown after being castrated. who for? cheats and why go to all that trouble? keep him entire or get another dog, such elaborate deceitfulness blows me away.......and all for a ribbon or a few points..........
  18. the only way there will be more neuter's in the ring is by people who want neuter class, lobbying for it. The entire dog is written into every standard right around the world, and is not going to change any time soon, so those that want neuter class start doing something about it instead of complaining, and those that are cheating, hope they feel good with their shallow win
  19. But the only way he can enter a ring again after desexing is if his nuggets have been replaced (against the rules) or entered as a neuter. I think you missed the point I was making. The arguments about a desexed dog not following the traditions of showing by being unable to reproduce is null and void when it comes to males who can have semen taken. If those arguing for reproduction being key to showing then they should also concede that a male with semen stored then desexed can still be bred from and therefore should be allowed to show. Obviously I understand rules don't allow that but for the above argument should they not be changed to reflect the wonders of semen storage  the rules are there to be followed, if people with desexed dogs want to show they are the ones that should be pushing for changes, most people don't care, you would have to change every breed standard and don't think that will be happening.
  20. I would personally get the full area, then there is no chance of a new born puppy getting on to the colder area without foam. Good Luck for a safe whelping
  21. FWIW, I do mind. I don't get obsessed with it on a personal level because I don't think my competition should be taking up space in my head, but I think it brings us all down as a breed fancy. I don't want my breed to be one where tails are routinely doctored for example. We should be better than that: more patient with puppy development, better trainers and more respectful of the functional hunting heritage of our dogs. If we want more people and fresh blood in our breeds, we should not create "norms" that are unethical and that will deter good-hearted people from participating and sticking around. absolutely agree.......my point was that I'm not jealous of the people that lie or enhance their dogs to try and win, I don't need to do that, and I think it is sad to think people are that desperate to win a few points. If people go to such lengths to win a ribbon or score some points, they really should have a good look at their dogs and breeding program, and most importantly themselves. Whats wrong with having a beautiful desexed bitch that never quite got enough points before being spayed? is her only worth the title? who are they trying to impress, they can't breed with her, so what does it matter? There are plenty of dogs out there that may have gone on to win their Grand title had they not had to be neutered for one reason or another, its all part of the sport, you just deal with it and move on. And yes, it is sad to think that cheating is becoming the "norm" and voicing disaproval of these things brings replies of "but its no big deal" etc.....not much of an example to the next generation coming through.
  22. it means you don't mind if people break the rules and cheat just want to add I don't mind showing against any dog........ neutered, spayed, with a false tail, whatever.......... that is not my point, my whole objection to this is they're breaking the rules.
  23. well I'd like to know what does go on in some breeders back yards!! and you can bet they're the same people that lie about their dogs being entire. Not minor at all its against the rules and they should be ashamed of themselves! I just don't get this "its only minor to lie about your dog not being neutered" and thinking its nothing!
