  7. Just read this thread and have to say what a beautiful girl Jenny was, hope she is having fun up there......run free pretty girl xx
  8. thats good to hear as long as they are healthy, I'm thinking you have a smaller breed? as a gundog would go stir crazy with a carrot as a chew toy, carrot just wouldn't cut it here I'm afraid
  9. I was saying I "know" raw is better for my dogs............and I think all dogs deserve a bone occassionally. and no of course you are not cruel for giving him something that suits him and doesn't make him sick......I am speaking in general and yes if people don't know what they are doing of course they can get it wrong with both raw and all kibble as well, it comes down to what works for you and your dog, I'm not telling anyone how to feed their dog, just commenting and asking a question
  10. And are her dogs sick and dying? If not, pull your head in. Indeed, if so, still pull your head in. I know that some raw feeders are fanatical about it but frankly many dogs do very well on cheap supermarket kibble and Pedigree Pal. It is not cruel, it's what suits the dog. well she had health issues for the life of her previous Lab. Just thought she should try some bones for her youngsters, no skin off my nose if she doesn't, they are her dogs, and whatever works for her, I feed majority raw and it works for me thats all that matters, so now I'll pull my head in, and so sorry I brought it up
  11. I know myself raw is better that wasn't why I asked the question. It would be good if I had a reference for someone at work who refuses to give her two young labs any raw food whatsoever, I think its cruel JMO
  12. Could be connected to anything. Household chemical use, for example. yep or combination of both
  13. yes Staranais totally agree with everything you say. Have nothing against people that feed total dry, its their choice, but really wish they would give their dogs a bone a few times a week particularly larger breeds
  14. I'm prob way off, but what really gets me thinking is when I hear of all the terrible cancers and other hideous diseases dogs suffer with and can't help but wonder is it connected to diet......like you say without proper studies we will never know
  15. Wondering if anyone knows if there is any research on long term health of dogs fed raw verses dogs fed solely dry kibble. I feed majority raw but add premium kibble every second or third day, this works for me. A lady at work purchased two lab puppies. Breeder and vet said no bones, no raw, just kibble, I suggested that some raw bones would be nice occassionally, but she said breeder said they are too dangerous and to stick with kibble only, is this because labs really do have a problem with bones? I personally think a larger dog would benefit from a bone occassionally. Its really none of my business I know, but just think they are missing out.
  16. I have only just read about your beloved Fraser I hope you are looking back and smiling now......remembering the good times and how much joy he brought you both Run free Fraser
  17. I feed both, I like Advance Puppy for the youngsters, but feed around 70% raw, mainly chicken wings and lamb, some offal and fish, never had a problem in 8 years, dogs are glowing with health. I get frustrated when new owners are worried about bones, particularly larger dogs, and knowing how much they love chewing them. My puppies start on necks and wings at 4 weeks.
  18. Hugs to you Lucy's mama and cuddles to your precious Lucy :p
  19. All six of mine wait for their toast in the morning, they love it with anything really....jam, vegy, cheese spread, peanut butter. They all go bananas for salami..... Csabi they like.... Hungarian they simply LOVE
  20. Hi atua you need to study your chosen breed and have a real passion for the breed. You haven't yet got your chosen breed, and you may or may not develop a passion for them. You need to show for a few years and you will gradually learn what is the right way to go as far as breeding ie what stud to use, what lines you like etc. A mentor from your breed is really needed to give advice, but you do learn a lot from reading, showing and talking to others of your breed. You don't rush into breeding a breed you know nothing about, having said that you can learn a lot in two years, but after 9 years I'm still learning. Good luck

    Pup Lethargic

any news on your puppy? hope he is ok
  22. No, you can only enter one class per dog
  23. Don't forget that you will need an exhibit number holder for your arm, you can buy one from the vendors at the show. Be careful walking past all dogs in crates, some will lunge and scare the daylites out of your puppy, if puppy has a really bad scare will hate shows for evermore. If you win a challenge (best dog or bitch of your breed) means you have won some points and you need to go and collect your challenge certificate or BOB cert from the office afterwards, don't forget because it can be hard to collect them after that day and you need them when your dog gets to 100 for proof. Don't forget to put a stamp self addressed envelope in with your show entries. There is a computer program to download your own entry forms its so much easier than writing them out all the time. eta link for Entry forms Australia
  24. Congratulations little tails!!!!! Marnie is soooooooo gorgeous
  25. I think I am giving my dogs too much protein, is that harmful? Is there any long term affect from too much protein? Would welcome your comments
