  2. ok spoke to our vice pres hes says we cant accept them as our VCA insurance wont cover brreds on the dangerous dogs list so that is all vca affiliated clubs wonder if its the same in other states Still the peopel you spoke to could have been nice and explained that its out of their hands
  3. good luk for today i'll be thinking of you al day let me know how it goes
  4. i think 2tollers hit the nail on the head both my working dogs take foor gently gemmas food drive has increased with age but they both still take food nicely the first few week id focus on building your relationship introducing her to new things and play you can roll food and let her chase it down hold it n you fist and let her dig it out etc but i wouldnt do too much training until shes settled remeber shes already leanring about her new home the environment house rules toilet trianing new things they are doign so much already at this age you have plenty of time for trianing you dont want her to burn out or become a frantic dog that cant settle
  5. yes would love to know who gave you grief so i knoe never to let anyone go there I remeber a few years back we had a gorgeous pitbull at our club however he joined up as a staffy cross ridgey lol
  6. SAdly i think its a vca rule that those breeds declared dangerous arent allowed at vca affiliated dog clubs i could be wrong but im sure i was told that a while ago am going to check today
  7. depending on where id go im on the mornington peninnsula
  8. I tend to agreed Give her aweek to settl then you'll start to see the real dog within just because one dog handles the whole flying thing really well doesnt mean they all will BC's are sensitive dogs so it will take time plus being just eight weeks she is probabaly in fear imprint not a great time to be flown and introd to a whole new life forget how quickly she picks things up spend time cuddling and playing and feed her her meals by hand so she gets used to it
  9. she'll be fine and much happier for the surgery Sucks though having to go again but im sure t will be the last of it
  10. we do both trot trot for showing look aead and gait and clos for heeling look up and stay foccussed. I love watching dogs heel that have total focus on their handler head up ready for the next cue
  11. Well conner woke up this morning full of beans so the antibiotics are doign their job trouble is now keeping him from tearing around have him in his play pen and hes not impressed lol
  12. thansk panda i hope so too hes asleep in daughters bed now all snuggled up hes only being a little bit spoilt honest lol
  13. if you arrange a summer school remeber to have some older dogs that are puppy tolerant too and places llike CTD are good lots of animals there when i suggested it we started with four and ended with ten and more wanting to come i think places wuold be surprised there are those that do trian over summer and would like a place to meet. You need to set up a bit of plan of what to do each week and have someone run it so you actulaly get things done not just chat and let the puppies play together so maybe one week have animal farm going to CTD's to meet the animals another maybe traffic school another bits and pieces have tunnelsa dn things to climb on etc think about what you want to intro puppies to and then plan it out also nclude quiet time so its not just busy busy because at a puppy school they would be explaning things and thats when the pups learn settle perhaps one of the girls that run structured puppy school would be willing to head it up for you
  14. hi guys hes stil very quiet doesnt like his tablet but isnt eating so i cant disguise it in anything. I gave him a lemonade icypole last night he ate that figured a little sugar wont hurt and will keep his energy up. Hes just so quiet. Nah Gemma is being very good she seems to know he is unwell and has been leaving him alone during the day shes outside and hes in so i dont have to watch them. Vet said i should see improvement by tomorrow if not we'll have to have another look at theres just nothing that screams out at you as being wrong but hes obviously sick
  15. start a group we did last year a small group of dolers we called it summer school and had a ball crash test is getting her pup today so there two and she has lots of sstuff to play with
  16. i gave him some ice cubes he liked that hes lying in the sun at the mment best place i think lots of warmth he mainly wants to be left alone by everyone and snuggle his mommy
  17. thanks shoey yeah hes snuggled up in his crate and hasnt come out since we arrivd home poor baby doesnt want anyone but me near him he just looks listless i am having trouble getting him to drink
  18. back from the vet coonor has managd to tea the big muscle down the back leg on the oppposite side to his worst kness very says hes been compensating also he has picked up a very nasty virs that has been going around which s why hes sick and lethargic so between the two things hes feeling very sorry for himself the painkillers have kicked in now and thast helped and he loved the anti biotics they are chocolate flavoured paste the vet says to watc him if no improvement by wednesday then blood stests
  19. Hi Guys Im relaly worried about my baby he has been getting soreer and soreer in the back for the past two months was diagnosed with luxating patellas but there seems more to it. Over the past few days hes been really sore not jumping up on furniture etc yesterday he was really grumpy by last night he was very quiet and threw up some of his dinner. This morning he wouldnt get out of bed and i carried him outside he didnt toilet just lied down on the concrete so i have carried him in and poped him in his bed. hes quinting his eyes and looks in pain but i have no idea where. We're heading into the vet as soon as he opens but im really worried hes had his share f bad things just wish i could pinpoint the problem
  20. i have two excellent herding books here im happy to sell on for ten dollars each if you want them
  21. actually we were heavily involved in obedience and have taken a step back because i wont risk my little dog being stomed on by some out f control nut so maybe having dogs out of control does the oppostie and sends people that were involved away. I think having a and b classes is good so those who have titled dogs before comepte in b novice and then the newcomers dont have to compete against experienced triallers and those of us who take it more seriously dont have to deal with people who are just giving it a go
  22. i agree it is a sport but why should we hve to risk our dogs being intimidated or attacked because eople come out with dogs that arent under enough control I dont think its encouraging when epople go out to early keep failing get told of if their dog is anuisance etc t would be more encouraging to have a dog that is ready go out do well and feel proud from all the compliments you get
  23. yes it was a fear of mine that although ccd is meant to encourage people to the sport that we would have unruly dogs out there mind you ive heard novice isnt much better with those that didnt want t go back to ccd with dogs that are out of control. We have a couple of members just starting to trial and watchign their dogs its embarrasssing to think the have been encouraged to have a go the dogs have no attention nick off at any given moemnt and f i was instructing their class they wouldnt have gotten out of beginners
  24. i agree with poodlefan sadly too many epeople trial dogs that are unreliable and even sow aggression during the stays yet they show up at trials without fixing the problem ts courtesy to say i dont want to stuff anyone up My dogs have excellent stays when they trial but i slll dont do stays if im not on a pass unless they need numbers
  25. sadly judges dotn always gve reruns i had a dog stand over mine in open downs and growl at him he got up and came to find me aftter two mnutes of intimidation judges response was the dog didnt actually touch mine so tough he was sitting on 198 I believe you really need to set up as many scenarios as oosibe including quiet all dogs behaving because most epople do heaps of distraction training but forget that the biggest distraction is when everything is quiet and one ting happens isnt hard to have a dog appear at the stays and run aaround etc in trianing. I have heard that its a nightmare out there at the moment n ccd and novice with far two many dogs trialling that arent ready im my opinion if you are not n a pass and your dog is unstable dont do the stays its unfair to the other cometitors and i tink it should smply be a rule that would fix a lot
