shoey your a star you like ness are starting out with your first dog and have gone forward in leaps and bounds of we all make mistakes even the best make mistakes but your willing to listen and try one thing i ahev learned from teaching others is soemtimes the best trianing is to step back and wait till they are ready to learn Arya i agree We all need that outsider looking in to pick up the little faults and give a different perspective sometimes your to familiar with your own dog and it takes soemone from outside to see the truth of whats going on. I havent had an instructor for a long time but then i havent been serious about competing for a long time either if i was i'd go private and get help to make sure i get a pleasing end result

Your doing great ness and i love that you always remember the people who have helped you along the way you will get ud and OC i have no doubt and im sure gina and sandy love helping you they would get a kick out of seeing you succeed each little step of the way i wuld prefer to be harrassed by someone 24/7 that was doign the work then seeing someone once a week gettign paid for it but knowing they didnt practise

i agree leo i love seeing epople that ive helped get success wehn we had our trial group i would spend more time worrying about everyone elses performance hoping all went well i was never concerned with how well i did i can have 199 but im more excited about soemone else ive helpd gaining that elusive pass

Forgot to add thens theres the yeah butt crowd even after youve shown them what to do and its worked they have a thousand excuses why it wont work. And the ones that you spend hours working with months even only to have them then set up for themselves peddling your ideas as theirds with no recognition to who helpd them get started

i think some people fear competition and arent keen to share ideas for that reason also there culd be great trainers around who no longer are active so then they are hard to track down if they arent attending dog stuff on a regular basis i know few trainers that are amazing but arent active anymore Im always open to offering ideas and advice wehn im around but it can get time consuming and often you feel like your won dogs suffer because your so busy with everyone elses and i know for me i tend to get so absorbed in helping everyone else i lose track of time so this may be the case for others too Also there is the bang your head factor after tbeing asked for help many times byt epople who really just want a quick fix or you to do the work you tend to get a bit skeptical about how serious some epople are and i know at club nowadays i refuse to help out for that reason im pretty selective as to who i will help because if im heping soemone they get 120%of my attention im diogn it for free so i want to knwo they are willing to put in the hard yards People like you ness are a godsend to trainers someone who listens takes things on board can think for themselves and is willing to put the hours in if only all dog trainers were like that

yes you can show her in season but see how sh is for some girls its all very traumatic the first tiem and the boys will want to hassle her so she may get overwhelmed I dont have a problem with her being there in season great distractiona nd i belive dogs should be able to work with a girl in season around or else you'd be stuffed if you at the park and someone showed up with one

Ok guys so how many people are definately coming and how is this going to be run so everyone gets help. Im coming but im not looking for help i'll train on the side lines and offer some distraction also who's experienced trialled past open and knows how to do a runthrough i guess would be important

And there are some briliant trianers in victoria not just WA you'd be surprised the epople with a lt to offer that just arent prominent in the ring

im upset nes i thought you were coing to visit me fine connor and gemma will be dissapointed though. Its like anything one on one will aways be ebtter than a group and if you can afford it i say do it because you'll get through quicker avoid teaching bad habits and develop your handling much faster

it depends on your goals if your serious about trialling and want to do well pace high score then yes a private instructor is the way to go you need to find someone who has a very good understanding of trial work preferably has trialled through to ud so they understand the pitfalls of being in the ring and soemone who is passionate and enthusiatic is a plus as it will rub off on you

hi jules Of ten it can be overwhelming when you start out im sure your a lot better than you think some instructors pick for the sake of picking wait till the get togetehr and i promise i for one will give you an honest opinion

well done leo no you can do change of pos but it makes sense to get started on the retrieve anyway i'll be there im bringing connor who has done nothing for months he can be funny wth dogs and peopel and likes his space

this is hw we used to do ti everyone bring chairs etc as they would in a trial then we set up a ring everyone sets up around the ring each person gets a runthrough max ten minutes and we discuss ideas to fix any problems and tips etc then once everyone has been through once then you can go through again or break into sall groups and do similar. aLl dogs onlead except when working and yeveryone needs to think about ettiquette outside the ring as you would a trial If epopel dont want a run through but want to wrk on distraction etc then wehn its their turn we set that up for that person also while soemone is in the ring its can pay to have others workign their dogs next to it as you wont go to many trials where there is one ring.

talkign about inconsistent trianing i thnk i might fall in that catergory of late does ding one session on the udx marker then leaving it for six months then getting it out again doig it a coupel of times and then leaving it count as inconsistent god im slack of late

you can hire the pavillion at kc for around 35 just have to have few vca members in the group or ask the rotty club if you can use a corner when they have it

dont bet on it i learned from some of the best riding instructors on meanness Charlie used to swear at me if i didnt jump into action but i wont swear at you though i might tie your hands to your sides if the wiggle too much hehe
