and the only reason I am taking late entries is because I will be finishing another catalogue.
-
This show closes on 21 August, next Saturday. I will only be accepting late entries till last post Friday 28 August and NO emailed entries. Get your entries in NOW or risk having them sent back, this is what a closing date is for.
-
So are you saying the person receiving the entries has an ulterior motive?
-
I do know that if an Aust Champion goes to USA they lose their title.

You didn't accidently put them in your return envelope did you? It has been done before by others (not me YET!)

Interesting, the last I heard was that The Rock was looking at a 2 day show.

Council Ranger Threatens To Fine Rescuer Of Lost Dogs
Ceilidh replied to SarasMum's topic in In The News
And yet when I took in a little dog wandering in the rain on a VERY busy street, I came onto DOL to ask advice on where I should advertise etc i was sounding hounded down for not taking the dog to the pound or calling the ranger as it was illegal to keep a stray! Go figure, damned if you do and damned if you don't. -

That is a lovely pic of Hooley. Thank you. That was his very first time in Veterans at the age of 11 years and 1 month. I think the look on his face says it all. I was prepared to do a fast walk but as soon as I put his show lead on (after a break of 7 years) he was rearing to go and I had trouble keeping up with him. There were 25 in the class which included 8 grand champions. I don't blame him for looking chuffed at his win, I was. He went on to win many many more just carrying on his career as though he had never left the ring. I still cry every day for my main man.

Aaah but I suspect one of these Borzoi may be Finn's new girlfriend!!!! So hands off Howie Finn's crush isn't Howie's favourite Borzoi girlfriend (the red head) so no blood needs be shed. Howie would win any fight easily - by about 500 metres. Phew, thank goodness. So Finn and Howie can remain friends
-
You know what? I loved my Hooley, he was my heart my soul my world my life and he knew it because that is how I treated him and I also told him every single day....but... there was always a catch in my throat and a tear in my eye and pride in my heart whenever we were in Veterans and the judge asked for a hand for the grand old dogs of the show world. I will ALWAYS clap for the veterans! Here's to the oldies. :D :D RIP Dool

Feargal the Foxie is a rich tan and white and he was shown on a tan lead with green and gold beads with a gold fine chain. Finn the Foxie is black and white and is shown on a black fine chain with a black lead with white and silver beads. Delta the blue roan cocker was shown on a silver chain with black lead and red and silver beads but has now inherited her father's rig which is a black chain with black lead and gold fleck and gold beads, so classy!

Women Injured And Animals Killed In Overnight Fires (caboolture Qld)

Oh Jed, I knew it had to come but I still wasn't prepared. It was such a roller coaster ride trying to find Magnus. I just don't know what to say. Thinking of you and how your heart must be so broken at the moment. Take care Jed and RIP TBCSITW ;) -
Oh I agree totally Aziah but Vic allow babies to be shown before the number is allocated. In NSW they are not even supposed to be in the catalogue, therefore, not to be shown but people still enter them and expect the cataloguer to ring and get the number off them. OK if it is just the one but there are usually around 10 or so that I have to ring for one show. I usually wear the cost of the calls but sheesh, come on people follow the rules or think about ringing the show sec with the number! Or they expect to just submit the number to the show sec on the day. I can't only hope that one day we will do away with individual state CCs and have just one ANKC. With this day and age of computers we shouldn't even need state offices. Oh we can only dream!

Oh Jed, I wish I were close enough to help out. I am sure your friend is more than happy looking after you. I haven't been able to post about your tributes till now but have to say, your fur kids would have known you are such a loving person and they are more than likely looking down on you and waiting for you to heal and get back to your old self. You need to try not worry and rest and heal. So many people are wishing you well. Take it easy Jed. -
OK, a 10 second look at DogsVic site I found this http://www.dogsvictoria.org.au/Content.asp?ID=178

DogsNSW have a guide. Maybe people should contact their relevant CC about doing the same. Surely if people are new to showing they have acquired their dog from a breeder who should be able to offer advise or where to get some advise? If I don't know something I ask. ETA the link to the NSW info http://www.dogsnsw.org.au/how-to-exhibit-your-dog

Hmm, if you have gripes about show sec/cataloguers then start your own thread. And after numbering and entering over 700 dogs, believe me, there are more than a 'few' errors received. Maybe you should take a stint as show sec! and see how your fingers are with staple wounds and how your phone bill is after more than a 'few' calls to confirm what show, what day is supposed to be entered, what is the rego number, how many stamps you have to add, how many envelopes take a hell of a lot of juggling to fit numbers in, how much sticky tape you have gone through on crappy envelopes etc etc.

Anyone got their numbers? How did the numbers end up? -
Don't really care if committee show or not but, as a show secretary I didn't show. Besides the fact that I have enough to do on the day, it is me who liaises with the judges so, personnally, I think it is unethical to show. I did, however, enter a dog and had someone else have the dog for the day and show it. I was asked if I would be show sec for a show some distance from me and said yes, I would enter my dog but have someone else show it.
