My point is that if the OP had said 'the neighbours dobermann' then no one would have questioned the breed or, in fact, the post at all. But, because she said a pit bull the usuals come on asking how she knows it was a pit bull, mind your own business etc etc.

I have to wonder, how is it that any Joe Blow can see a dog and say 'oh that is a cocker spaniel or jack russell or fox terrier or pug etc etc' but absolutely no one is Australia can recognise an APBT?
-
He has a profile here http://www.dogzonline.com.au/breeds/profile.asp?dog=31291 Vicki and he is also in the mature dogs section. Thanks Poodlie, he sure is a character isn't he.
-
I am out near Wagga, not much around here to take him to unfortunately.
-
Awe, thanks Tris, he will be sadly missed. I miss him already and he is still here. I keep picking him up and cuddling him and telling him I am so so so sorry. I am sure he will be happy in the right home though. There will never be another fartbucket though will there
-
Thanks Drumbeat. He isn't quite what you would call a smaller terrier He is about 44cm and that is too big for the show ring, hence why I need to place him. He will, however, stay here till the right home comes along. I will be fussy who gets to make this great little guy their companion.

Thanks everyone, I am placing my Feargal and was looking for an obedience/agility home. I was just wondering if I may have been expecting too much. So far, as a show dog and an indoor pet, he has learnt very fast. He is also extremely agile and active hence why I was thinking agility. He is a stunner but has grown a bit too big for the show ring. Thanks again, I will keep looking for that special home. Unless you are serious Laffi and Clover

Just wondering if any of you dedicated obedience/agility people would be game enough to take on a foxie or do you think they are, as a general rule, too hard to train.

You do realise it isn't a new vaccine? It is just a newish protocol. I Vacc at 6 weeks, 12 weeks, 15 months. That's it, no more.

Grooming Schnauzer Puppy For Showing
Ceilidh replied to hipporider's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Hi and welcome to the wonderful world of dog showing, ENJOY!! Does your breeder show? If they do then I would be listening to them and doing exactly what they say. They would only be giving you good advice as it is their prefix in the ring and it is to their benefit that the dog is groomed correctly. If they don't show then I would be asking a fellow showy who has schnauzers. -
Oh my God!!!!!!! There is really someone else out there like me!!!!!!! I love the smell of my dogs feet too!!!!!!
-
Sorry, didn't realise you bred the dog. Then yes, worm at 2,4,6 & 8 weeks (I use a puppy suspension) then with Closasole at 3 months and every 3 months for the rest of its life. I have never had problems with wormy dogs.
-
How often are you worming him? You should have only wormed him once (assuming he was 8 weeks old when you got him), at 3 months, and he will be due again at 6 months. He should only be getting half a 10kg tablet. Maybe this is the problem. Drontal is usually a very good product.

Any dog that comes in here with fleas gets a Fido's Flea Shampoo bath. Then I suggest the owner applies Advantage the following day after washing and cleaning all bedding. I had a rescue in here that was so covered with fleas that I did FOUR flea shampoos then when he was completely dry I put some Advantage on him. He went to sleep and when the transporter came to pick him up his bed was black with dead fleas. Advantage is the ONLY spot on I will sell, too many complaints about Frontline. A flea shampoo will kill live fleas on the dog then the Advantage kills from lavae up, breaking the breeding cycle.

This sounds like the old 'rub their nose in it till they understand'. Sorry, I have way too much respect for my dogs to do anything like this. Please lock you chickens up when the dog is loose in the yard, far kinder.

Parvo Virus - New Puppy On Holidays At Dog Friendly Holiday Rental
Ceilidh replied to Peter D's topic in Puppy Chat
It means this: that if everyone was too scared to go on holidays and take their pets/family members places because of the what ifs then people would be out of business......?? Surely you mean if everyone was too scared to take their pets then the boarding kennels would be booming, not going out of business. Like children for example, If I take my girls down to the shopping center I do so knowing that even though they are fully vacinated there is still a chance that whilst they are out some wally has taken thier chickenpox diseased child there also and they can still catch something. Your kids are fully vaccinated you say, why would they catch something they are vaccinated for? So am I going to keep them at home in a bubble just because they might get ill? No I'm not. I am going to do my part and keep thim up to date with their jib jabs and make sure I dont blindly talke them to places where I know they will be at high risk if they are not up to date with their immunisations...... I don't put myself first every step of the way.....infact the only think I HAVE done for myself in the last 15 years was buy Molly my beautiful boxer. Yes, and taken home at 6.5 weeks old, great breeder NOT! And I make no apologies for believing someone who doesn't follow the rules and regs and COE of the CC are not good breeders. Break one rule and who knows what others are broken. I really think you have missed what I was saying and meaning in my response because I agree with you to an extent but hey its awesome that you are so concerned and your one liners really have the crowd cheering. And you are hysterical by your standards aren't you, I don't understand your problem. -
Parvo Virus - New Puppy On Holidays At Dog Friendly Holiday Rental
Ceilidh replied to Peter D's topic in Puppy Chat
Somtimes things change and there is no other choice.....We were told one date as a collection date for Molly, planned a holiday and then 3 weeks before the date we were told to come and collect her because her mum was not doing to well with all of the pups. We tried to change her collection time until she was older however we were unable to. Although pet disease is serious I really don't think people should be so anal about the do's and dont's of pet ownership based on the what if's...what will be next? not taking your pet to a park because it could be bitten by an ant? because many years ago ants used to live at the park? If anything happened to my babies I would be shattered and go through the what ifs but really I would go insane if I did it every day. Yes, Life must change when you take on a committment but think of all of the boarding kennels that would be out of business if... people took their committment to the extreeme?? And this means?? cotton wool anyone?? hmmmm, thanks Molly, very nice person indeed, I will take your advice and stock up on the cotton wool and any you can send my way will be appreciated. You go ahead and put yourself first every step of the way and I will continue to care for my animals and to advise other responsible people to do the same. And while we have irresponsible people, because their circumstances changed! we will continue to have diseases. -
we can only hope, sheesh there are some fools in this world isn't there, and the poor dogs suffer for it

Glad you cancelled your holiday. I can't understand why someone would pick up a puppy at 8 weeks knowing they are going away a week later? Would have been better to organise to pick your puppy up AFTER you come back from your holiday. Life must change when you take on a committment! -
Prefix Search Australia Wide Www.prefixsearch.com.au
Ceilidh replied to SwaY's topic in General Dog Discussion
As a cataloguer if I see a prefix split I put it into one word. Also the second capital in one word, once again, wrong. By rights if a challenge or BOB certificate is written out with the prefix in two words it is not legal and the points should not be added to a title application. As a cataloguer I usually join the words up into one. Also, the second capital letter in one word is wrong. If you want to call your dog Von Something Something then apply for Von as your prefix. Easy, till everyone wants it -

See I don't get how these prefixes get approved, the rules state 'one word'. Go figure. -

No worries Wendy. With everyone throwing prefixes in I think it is important to be careful that they are all, in fact, Australian. -

Bor Bor wouldn't be Australian, we are only allowed one word. If you are not sure then maybe you shouldn't list them for adding to the site. -

Do you mean you have already had the prefix approved and will breed oneday or do you mean you hope to have Saldo as your prefix oneday? If it isn't already approved it shouldn't be added. Just an observation.
