Yes I have stayed with two oldies (brother & sister) who needed to be helped on their way within six months of each other. I made the promise to each of them that I would not be selfish and would not let them suffer so that I could keep them with me. My girl was the hardest as she was my heart dog and although I knew she had been sick during the night, I didn't think I would be making that decision when I took her in. My vet and the vet nurse were both lovely and made it a little easier for me. Her brother had me and his nanny to hug & kiss him on his way. They give us so much love and loyalty during their lives. Maybe if some of the people who just dump their dogs at pounds were made to stay when they are put to sleep, they might not be so quick to dump their next dog but maybe not.

I bought two of the smaller ones to use in the dog crates at home.

One of the ladies I work with thought it might be on tonight?? She wasn't sure though.

For those buying puppy pens for their babies, I suggest you go to Bunnings and buy their compost wire bins. There are four wire panels and cost around $30 - much cheaper than some of the puppy pens available and do the trick. Do a search in general topic and they should come up with pictures. The spiral wire connections are a bit hard to get on so I just use cable ties. I had a puppy stay for a short holiday recently and had forgotten how they can get thru the bars on the baby gates so just strapped a panel to each gate & no more escapee.

Congratulations Hasn't he turned into a very handsome young man. Doesn't seem that long ago when we were all praying for him to pull thru.

I will be there on Good Friday, Easter Saturday and Easter Sunday helping on the Dogs NSW stand, so come and say hi and then back again on Saturday 10th showing with the shelties.

Huge congratulations to Team Yogi Just finished watching the group and BIS judging. He is just such a superb moving dog.

I have one entire male and two bitches. When either of the girls come into season, I pack their overnight bag and they go and have a holiday at Nanny & Poppy's house or my boy goes for a holiday. Normally it is one of the girls who goes for a visit. With me at work, I don't have to worry about playing "musical" dogs and they get to have a holiday as well. Mum & Dad are both retired and are home all day with very secure fencing.

Gee, can't remember the year I joined (am sure it shows under my avatar) and have been a member ever since. I don't do a lot of posting but do read most of the forums. It has grown so much over the years, people come and people go but the love of animals, dogs in particular, stays the same.

I would have blocked his view of the dog and then when he made eye contact with me, given him a glare of hate back or poked my tongue out

I have always told any of my puppy buyers that if anything happens & they can not keep the puppy/dog that it will always have a place here. You hope they will contact you but sometimes people don't. Most breeders that I know have taken back dogs that they have bred & have rehomed them.

I would be worried about injuries to joints. It is a quite a long way for a chi to be jumping down off from a bed. At least if he has his own crate to sleep in, there is also no chance of him being stepped on during the night. I know my girl sometimes sleeps on the floor right where I put my feet to get out of bed and have nearly stepped on her a few times.

Make sure that you check thoroughly for drafts - so easy for babies to get chilled. Get down at floor level with a lighter or match and see if any draft blows the flame. By putting up a puppy pen with sheet over it to floor, it stops any draft getting thru to baby. Good luck - what a surprise :D

Some pictures of my beautiful girl Gypsy who is now at Rainbow Bridge. She was my first sheltie and was my shadow. I am lucky that I still have her daughter, granddaughter, great grandson and great great granddaughter who all have little reminders of her in different things that they do. She absolutely adored puppies and loved it when any were around. In her later years, they all seemed to sense she was a little bit unsteady on her feet so played gently with her. Also, pictured is her brother, Rambo, who joined her six months later at the Bridge. In the photo, he was 10 winning Challenge Dog & Runner up in show at a Sheltie Specialty show. His tail never stopped wagging.

Just love looking at all the pictures of these "golden oldies" - you can see all their special personalities shining through in these photos. Here is another one of my heart girl taken twelve months to the day before she went to Rainbow Bridge.

Hope all goes well Missymoo with the whelping. I normally sit and watch some TV, read, surf on the net, have a few cat naps. I don't think they like to start whelping until your eyes are crossing from the fatigue of sitting up a couple of nights

I think it would be a lovely idea - was watching the TV last night and listening to the interviews. Such a horrendous fire. I hope the people find some peace with the memorials they will be holding on Sunday.

So so sorry to read that Rocco is no longer with his family & Ralph My deepest sympathy to you all - he was a handsome & beautiful ambassador for dogs of all breeds - he always put a smile on my face.
