I would still make an appointment with Peter or Garry. I had a young pup totally collapse and couldn't move either front or rear legs. Rushed her to the emergency hospital who suggested she may have meningitis and they would need to do a dye test. Since pup had been well only minutes before, I elected to take her home and got into see Peter the next day. She had a badly pinched nerve in her neck (one of the oldies must have jumped her). After two sessions with Peter, she was back to normal.

I made the promise to my heart girl that I would not let her suffer or lose her dignity just so I didn't have to be without her. She had a mamory tumor removed at 8 years old and the vet told me she could be with me for 12 months or maybe less. I was lucky and had her for another 6.5 years. She started to really slow down over a period of four weeks - nothing major until one night she started vomiting & couldn't keep anything down even water. I sat up the whole night with her trying to make her comfortable. I was at the vet first thing in the morning. He told me it didn't look good. I made the decision to give her her wings She peacefully went to the bridge in my arms. It was the hardest thing I have every done. Six months later on my way home, my mum rang to say her brother was not well. When I saw him lying there, I knew it was his time. My dad was so upset, crying & saying he didn't want him to go. But I had to say "he is tired, he has reached 15 years old, never been sick, has had a wonderful life, has travelled to most states & met lots of people who love him too. It is not fair to make him suffer just so we don't have to say goodbye". He had my mum and I with him when he made his journey. You seem to see it in their eyes - sometimes I think they try and stay through the pain for our sakes. I know my heart girl will always be with me in spirit and I am lucky that both of them live on through their children & offspring.

Awww we are not all like that Most of us there are a friendly bunch.

I also find that as bitches get to around the 6-9 month & their hormones start kicking in, they can become rather nervy/fearfull when they have never shown these traits before. I would continue with just taking her to shows and making it a relaxing time with some training in an empty ring. Perhaps even going around the ring in the wrong direction so that will even be different to what she is expecting.

Pork Pies Or Lies The General Public Tell Us

Poodles grow pom-poms??? ;) Damn, all you poodle people must be breeding them wrong. Just imagine all that grooming time you could save I had a lady tell me her undersized sheltie was a mini sheltie. Told her that no, she was just undersized & there is no such thing as a mini sheltie. Yes there was as she got it from a breeder. She was adamant so I just let it go. We were all at a pet expo once and had mostly sable shelties along with a pretty little blue merle puppy. Was asked if she would change colour to be like the other dogs when she got older :D -
Not a problem Labkisses but photos of babies in your new pen would be nice ;) :D I also use them on my wooden baby gates as sheltie pups when young run straight between the bars

Mine dont' have a fear of fireworks - they would run around the backyard barking their heads off. I don't like the loud noise myself. I can understand letting them off on New Year's Eve but it is all the other nights that peeve me off.

It is lovely receiving updates, isn't it? I have regular photo & email updates from my last litter born in June 2010. I love seeing how they are all growing up and I also send updates back to them on how my young girl is doing as well. One of my previous puppy buyers is now a very close friend (going on for nearly 10 years now) and another close friendship has developed with people who bought one of my older bitches. Unfortunately some people you never hear from again and I don't like to push them. I always make sure they understand that if at any time they can not look after/keep their dog, they can contact me and I will try and help with rehoming. They are also welcome to contact me if they are going on holidays & need a place for their dog to stay.

I bought some back in June 2010. I couldn't find them in store either & had to ask. Luckily a new shipment had just arrived & they hadn't been taken out of the box so I had been walking past them.

I bought two packets of the wire compost bins from Bunnings (around $24.00 for four panels). Worked out much cheaper than buying a puppy pen.

Will be staying home with my kids New Years Eve as the sound around my neighbourhood from fireworks is horrendous. They have been going off nearly every night since before Christmas. They are so loud - it sounds like what I imagine a war zone to sound like.
-
OMG how cute are they all? Stolzeinrotts, you must be very proud of your girl looking after them all so well.

OMG did you steal someone's Christmas roast for Orbit :D Gee my three shelties could all sit around and share that one. Hope he enjoyed it

Was even telling some of the people at work I would be showing at Castle Hill. Glad they were busy & couldn't come down to have a look ;) -

Glad you posted the breakup numbers and that the show was at EP - had it in my head that shows were at Castle Hill Oh well, might have pulled off BIS seeing I would have been the only one there -
Very handsome man - hope his time in jail goes quickly for you.

A few months ago I attended a Dogs Day Out with Dogs NSW over near Mosman, Sydney. During the day we counted over 70 different breeds who visited with their families. Was lovely to see so many purebred dogs. I am sure that all dogs are equally loved whether they are purebred or mongrel but at least when buying a healthy puppy from an ethical breeder, you know what size, coat type & characteristics your dog will mature to. I am always happy to talk about my breed to anyone who stops to ask and the dogs are always happy to get extra pats & cuddles too.

I have had my OKS trolley for over 14 years and have never had a problem with it. It was one that Ozzie Scales made.

Well Ella is doing well in the showring although she hasn't had a win yet. But she enjoys going and doesn't break gait and will stand & bait so I am happy. Sorry Blakbelgian but didn't see any schipps at all. Teamsnag - haven't forgotten your goodies. I just haven't made it to the post office yet. Will try & get there on Friday. Have just had the neighbour come & complain about the barking dogs so have taken Ella & Kitty over to my mum's until I can arrange anti bark collars. The other two are debarked. He reckons they bark non stop all day long. Have told him that I didn't realise and will try and do something about it. I know when I am here, they barely open their mouths unless there is something to bark at. Just hope the collars work.

Well I am back from my trip overseas - got in early Friday morning. Had a great time with my friends over there and was hard to leave but glad to be back home with family, friends and the dogs. Every time I sit down, I have four shelties trying to get on my lap for a cuddle. Ella has grown legs while I was away - amazing how they can change in just two weeks. Saw lots of lovely shelties over there at the San Diego speciality shows and was made to feel very welcome. Bought quite a few grooming things and clothes, shoes etc Took quite a lot of pictures but some are quite blury (bugger). Teamsnag - will pm you later to get your snail mail addy so I can send you the stuff from the Dacchie National. Met a few breeders there - Primo & Grandgables who have both shelties and dachies.

Good luck Cowanbree Hope all goes well and puppies arrive healthy & happy.
