Eza, she's HUGE LOL I would need to take her to the vet to weigh her which I will do on the weekend. I can't pick her up she's so big. I worm all my pets every 6 weeks and the family every 12 -

I thought I would just come onlione and give an update for those who are interested After 2 weeks on Eukanuba large breed puppy food and chicken necks every 3rd day, she is looking perfect. She's lean but not skinny. Her ribs still stick out when she's eating, but her hip bones and spine are nicely covered now. Unfortunatly Frodo (my poodle X spaniel) has got major skin issues again he's been great the last few months, but then suddenly got bad after his last hair cut a couple of weeks ago. I've given him a flea treatment because I know he's sensative to fleas, but I didn't see any fleas, and he is on Prednisone (sp?). I hope this clears up soon, I thought we had this sorted -

phatdex- do you think they suck their tummy in to make themselves look neglected on purpose to get more food? LOL I have wondered this for so long now. Waverly- bulldogs don't live long enough :D anything that helps to keep her just that little bit longer, I'm going to do. -

Well I am starting to think that if she is unhealthy, then she wouldn't be active. She's always jumping around and playing and always has a wet nose, shiny coat sparkly eyes and a big smile, so she can't be ill ad under weight I guess. I am still putting her on a better diet though :D -

Heyya Miranda what a small world! I know Terry's meats, I see it when I go to the bakery opposite with the best donuts ever I wonder if I can return the 15 cans of dog food I bought the other night from Coles. I think I've seen Mega pet warehouse too, so will go in there today and get some Eukanuba, I'm sure it'll be cheaper there than at the vet. Catch you round -

Oh thankyou so much, you are so patient. I need a lesson in doggy terminology I was planning on breeding her when I got her, but my plans are on hold for now. Frodo has been desexed and they are both enclosed at night (crate in the house most nights, but in Summer they use a kennel outside), I don't think I will have her desexed until she has developed more (after 12 months) so hopefully she will start to be in better condition for it. The photos of your dog are lovely, he's a very healthy looking dog with a beautiful shiny coat. I think he looked a little better than Bella in the first shot though, cause even though he is lean, he doesn't have bones sticking out. I saw a thread on silk balls, I think they were called, which are used for fattening dogs up, so I was thinking I may do that for a week to catch her up. LOL Frodo's "hairdresser" has just arrived... Thanks again -

Is it ok to feed a large breed puppy satin balls for a week as a catch up? My 5 month old bulldog is a skinny minni. I'm about to change her diet (I got great advice on another thread about her diet), but just came across this thread and thought it may help get meat on her bones faster -

I was wondering how she could eat so much. Seriously I've never seen any dog consume so much food so fast. She doesn't even take a breath. She looks like she's starving everytime I feed her. It's just her ribs sticking out, her spine isn't showing at all, but she looks like she's sucking her tummy in all the time. I was thinking it was the quality of the food, but have had Purina recommended before from someone here. Soooo, I'll get some Eukanuba (sp?) and my local butcher is a really nice bloke, so she'll be spoilt with fresh meat Is it ok to only give raw meat though? -

Thanks for your reply KitKat I am feeding her 4 cups of purinaOne plus a 750gm can of optimum, I'm not sure what kibble is though LOL please tell me! -
Hi, I haven't posted here in a while, but seeing as you all helped me out so much with my dog Frodo (a now very happy poodle X Cav) I thought that this would be the best place to ask about my other dog She's around 5-6 months old and is an Aussi bulldog. She's very beauitful and came from a registered breeder. I saw pics of her parents and they were both very heavily built like most Aussi bulldogs I've seen, but Bella is skinny. My husband thinks she looks more like she's a boxer in the body, but I think there may be something wrong. Her ribs are always sticking out even though she eats twice a day plus half of Frodo's food. Frodo is pretty chunky so he is getting plenty, but Bella seems like she's never getting enough. I worm her every 6 weeks and it makes no difference. I give her a bowl of Purina puppy formula dry food in the morning with a bowl of water and she has Optimum puppy canned food at night. I am still giving her puppy food because if it's high fat content. I also give her treats, like kangaroo tails and pigs ears and raw chicken necks. Please help me fatten up my pup!

he will look so funny, what colour fabric should I get him? I was thinking spiderman fabric or something
-
Actually the groomer just so happens to be a spaniel breeder she said she will make Frodo a snood, but ran out of time, so I will ask her about it again at the next appointment and she can get the right measurements off him.
-
Here you go he isn't smiling in the shot, but he's happy on the inside I think he looks a little like a Maltese now! There's Bella giving him a kiss
-
Hesapandabear - the lady who groomed him said that it didn't lather up well enough, but I had diluted it too much I think. I will try and get the mix right next time I will have to get a pic of Frodo for you all later today he looks so lovely and happy!

A bit of an update :D I took Frodo to see a groomer today which someone PM'd the details of to me. She is sooo lovely and thorough and a member at these forums He looks so cute and clean and smells lovely! I had the lady from clipperworld contact me about the clippers I mentioned earlier, and she was so helpfull and even posted me out a bottle of Grimenatore, which the groomer used before washing him with Malaseb. His ear hairs have been cut back and his feet are shaved, so the malaseb will work better on his paws now. He is still licking them occasionaly, but nowhere near as much. I think the new kennel has made a huge difference as he is in a drier environment now. I also think the groomer I used to use, didn't dry him well enough, which contributed to the smell. His ears are much better now and the bottle of drops are finished. I had him in the car on the way to the groomer this morning and he didn't smell too bad at all I think the combination of everything has really improved the smell. Hopefully things will just keep getting better his skin looks wonderful (no scabs or hot spots) and he is a much happier little pooch. Thanks so much everyone for all your fantastic suggestions!

Bella has been doing really well in the portacot she's not had any accidents in it or the house for that matter. She wakes up and makes a bit of a noise, so I take her straight out. I'm still trying to figure out her pattern. I preffer not to use the lead as it seems to confuse her and stir up Frodo who thinks it's walk time I just take her to where Frodo goes and put her down till she does her bizzo, then make a huge deal out of it (makes her tail wag so hard ) I won the bid on the crate on ebay, but the seller was suppose to send me the DD details, but still hasn't, so not sure what's going to happen there, but I've seen another seller who sells them really cheap too. I figure that my winning bid of $15.50 has dissapointed the seller slightly and he's avoiding making the deal :D anyway, I'll give it another day, then put in a complaint.

Thanks fot that Erny, wasn't sure how long to wait, at 2am in the freezing cold, I get a little impatient ;) I figured she'd be bursting to go and go right away, but she just sits there and looks at me like she's waiting for me to do a tap dance or somthing. I don't think she likes the lead much yet either, and she likes to have it in her mouth
