  1. Hi All. Just to let every one know I will be doing Boxers On The Beach again next year so you can mark your calendar. There will be a change next year to the normal event Due to the weather being so hot at that time of the year, Boxers On The Beach will be starting at 7.00 AM We will meet at Red Beach on Bribie Island at 6.45am then walk the dogs around to Worrim Beach AND BACK!!! we will then move down to the esplanade at Bongaree for a BBQ BREAKFAST This way every one can be home before it gets to hot and the dogs will be out of the heat. Hope to see as many Boxers as possible and/or Boxer friends . So thats the 26 of January 20011 at 4:45am at Red Beach Bribie Island Rain , Hail or shine! For any other details you can contact me here or at [email protected] or the QLD Boxer Club. Cheers Hogz
  2. YEAH .... I heard about that also :D do you think it was correct? Hogz
  3. Yes I agree, the mats are so much cheaper at the Asian shops. Cheers Hogz
  4. I swear by a product called "N dem" by Josheph Ludhum, its available at produce stores, its not cheap but it lasts for ages, I spray a bit on a small cloth and wipe it over the dogs, then I place the cloth I used into a jar with a lid for next time. the one wipe seems to work all day. Cheers Hogz
  5. Hi Hesa. Looks to me like a grass seed infection, if you are refering to the Nanango show, there was thousands of red grass seeds on the grass in the rings, these are extremely hard to see with the naked eye as they are RED and so is the coloration of the eye, my dogs were absolutely covered in them from the ring infront of the shed/canteen , they wipe off harmlessly but if your dog gets one under its eyelid it can infect as the dog rubs it. When people think of Grass seed they think of the larger black seeds, but its the red ones that are hard to find. Good luck with it, I usually try flushing with a saline solution in a suringe for a bit of pressure not just drops, but mention the RED seeds to your vet. Cheers Hogz
  6. As far as the "people" who are able to apply for the permits, to my understanding of what was said, is that they must be apart of a specific governing body or reputable association, not JUST the ankc. I believe the German Shepard club was mentioned as an example and the Border club, (I think) and the cat clubs. It must be an association that is governed by a code of ethic that its members must adhere to. Cheers Hogz
  7. Please get your friend with the experience to show you and supervise you as you do them for the first few times, dont rely on videos, hands on is the only way. for the fist few times you will need to have someone hold the pups for you while you operate. Good luck! Cheers Hogz
  8. I do my own on day 2-3 depending on strength of pup, I do not remove the whole thumb joint which requires a deep incission, IMO, you only need to remove the quick area of the claw, because without the quick a claw can not grow, this leave very minimal scaring, in 30 years and about 18 litters I have had 2 claws grow back where I didnt take enough off. I hate the look of large dew claw scares, specially on white feet. Cheers Hogz
  9. I found the meeting to be very well delivered with open and honest answers to quite a few "interesting" questions. The base line is that with a permit I am no longer limited to 4 dogs as I was pre permit, my dog registration has gone from $80 per entire dog with no ccc discounts down to $60 per entire dog with ccc discounts, down to $20 per entire dog with a permit. Yes the permit costs $125.00 on application and $25 yearly but that will more than pay for its self in the future from savings on dog rego. The standards required to obtain a permit is no more than the CCC,s code of ethics requires and as stated at the meeting, probably less. The law requireing a breeders permit to sell pups in the shire has been in for a few years already but not enforced, no doubt this will change. As stated at the meeting, Council intends to start to get tough with the puppy farmers, as we have been asking then to do for years, but they need to seperate the Registered breeders from the others first and to do this they have to know who we are. A permit will identify us. Most, like me, are/were not worried about council inspecting the standard of care we give our dogs, but were terrified about them doing a head count. my own case was I was allowed 4 dogs on 2.2 acres , I had 6 dogs, so that was 2 dogs I would be fined for having AND have to get rid of. Now with the permit, I can have 8 plus dogs if I wanted and could accomodate for, and still pay LESS for registration AND be law abiding as I always wanted to be but couldn't due to number restriction, so no more panic stations if a council car drives up the street. I believed council/dogs qld are trying to be fair with us,( but I am a trusting person) so untill something presents its self that is different to what they told a room full of people who all heard the same thing, I am prepared to meet half way and get the permit and register ALL my dogs. Cheers Hogz
  10. Sure, as long as they are not 30 pages long...... Should be interesting but I dont think it will be exciting, remember...they want our money not our love. Hogz Not in your area, but good luck. Can you post the rules they have put into place?

  14. TO MY KNOWLEDGE........ Camping is not permitted on the Grounds due to Council Regulations which include a flood way which is on the road into the Grounds. Because the road MAY flood in very heavy rain, the access road may be covered by water and is the only road in or out of the grounds. HOWEVER, Durack also has a NO CAMPING policy.... If " YOU CHOOSE" to "STAY OVERNIGHT "with your equipment on the grounds for the next show, you are more than welcome, there are toilets and showers available. The club should not have advertise "CAMPING AVAILABLE"and "CAMPING PASS" as a feature for the show, this was done with out my knowledge or permission, that is why it was retracted. Cheers Hogz Ex- President Caboolture Kennel Club
  15. I had two baby puppies to go to Perth this morning, had DOGTAINERS promise they would arrive at 8am to pick up my babies. At 915am we recieved a call to say the driver could not find our address(very basic address and they have been here before, Dominos has no probs). At 935am they turned up and took the pups saying they would make the flight. The new owner in Perth contacted DOGTAINERS and was told the pups were on their way, so he started his 3 hour drive to Perth Airport to collect the pups. 20 minutes from the Perth airport he was contacted to say the pups never got on the plane in Brisbane and were still there. I unfortunately only found out about all this after work tonight and I contacted DOGTAINERS. I was then told that the flights were mixed up thats why the pups missed the plane. I said it was strange I am now been told it was a flight mix up when this morning it was because the driver couldnt find my address??? REGUARDLESS as to WHY the pups missed the flight and who was to blame, I am so disappointed NO ONE from DOGTAINERS felt it was something that I needed to know that my two Babies were sitting in a small crate all day and will remain there all night and again tomorrow because the company was unable to provide the service they said they would, and took money for. WHY could someone not have had the decency to phone and say sorry they missed the plane and will have to go tomorrow. I would have gone to the airport and picked them up and brought them home where i know they will be warm and secure and FED!!! All I got for my efforts was one guy blaming another. Its not going to be a very good night for my pups....or ME! Lucky I placed enough bedding in the crate in case it got cold inflight otherwise they would be sitting on the two pieces of newspaper that was in the crate when it arrived . Sorry DODTAINERS that was your LAST STRAW!!!!!!!! never again! Hogz
  16. Love to have there! Got a fantastic triple comming up in November! Hogz
  17. I agree. The training is a secondary, your most important issue at this age is socialisation, get puppy out there with the others and walking on a lead, making sure puppy is having a good time, then slowly include the training as a game. We hold classes at Caboolture Kennel Club on Wed. nights at 7pm if you are not to far away. Cheers Hogz
  18. As a club President, I don't think the Executive committee should show their dogs , but I don't have a problem with them having someone else show their dogs for them. When we as a club PRESENT a show for exhibitors I think that as HOSTS we should abstain from competing ourselves. I just think that it is good ethics to create an atmosphere of fair play. I wont show my dogs at our shows, but will try to find someone to show them for me. As a committee member, where do you get TIME to show??? there is so much that needs to be done hosting a venue like this and if you do have time you should be entertaining your guests and attending to their needs. May sound corny, but Its what I believe your roll as a host is. Shayne Bryant (Hogz) President Caboolture Kennel Club.
  19. Hi All. I will be opening the club house tonight but training will depend on the rain. Come and have a cuppa anyway. Cheers Hogz

  21. Unfortunatly a few of the Ags have or are concidering cancelling the dog shows we (Caboolture Kennel Club) run the Caboolture Ag for the show society but we as a club make nothing from it, we supply all the gear and do all the work and clean up afterwards, and we get nothing $$$$$$. BUT, we do it for the dog community and the show scene as a whole. Some of the small ag shows dont have voluntees to do the work involved, thats why the shows are dwindling. Hogz
  22. BOY was I wrong...... Friday was great, but sat and sun ....... ;)
