Fantastic shots I got some photos but not of all the dogs because I was competing. I just LOVE that last one of Roz & Banjo, brilliant .
-
The lady's name is Sacha & the dog's name is Jemba . I'd love to see more!

Well it's become apparent that it wasn't an ant bite at all, watching the video you can see that he hurts his foot during one of his first moves. He was still on 3 legs when running at lunchtime today but seems to be quite a bit better tonight & is only limping slightly on it. So I will rest him for a few days & see how he goes with it. Reddi well done to you & your gang, congratulations .

I thought so, I have trialled under her & stewarded for for quite a number of times, you're right, she is lovely .

Thanx Pax, hahaha you'll keep, I know where you live remember? :D .

Ooooooh why didn't you come over & say hi afterwards? :p It wasn't that bad was it? Those pics are great, thank you! Eddie took the video but Im usually the one with the camera & he couldnt do both, so it's nice to see some pics . I watched the video, erkkkk my handling was absolutely shocking it didn't look much like dancing . My signals were really bad & so obvious & I have no idea why I had my hand stuck on my left hip for most of the routine, it's left over from obedience days I think ;) . At the beginning I took off up the ring like a freight train was after me or something, I think i just wanted to get moving in case he took off to the agility again :D . But anyway we can only get better, like I said to someone else, I guess it wasn't bad since 3 weeks ago I didn't even know it was on let alone have a routine . Oh & apologies that I used your name in an earlier post when I was talking to Bordacollies4me, I edited it so people wouldnt think I was talking to you when I wasn't.
-
Bordacollies4me, ahhhh now I know who you are, congratulations to you & to Tony as well for getting into the final in the disc & for your agility successes, well done!! 2tollers, thank you, we're pretty sure it was a green ant as I found out later that there were some nests out there. The problem was that we were kept waiting standing in position for probably close to a minute before we started the routine because there was a problem with the music & we think that's when the ant got on him. He got bitten right up between his pads underneath his foot, I think what's happened is that it's got up in there & bit him a number of times which is why it was so sore for so long. I was just pleased that he kept on working for the rest of the routine even if it was on 3 legs most dogs would have shut down & wouldnt have kept working Im sure. Edited to fix up the name!

Ptolomy, she did some nice work, pity about that dumbell! Just out of curiosity, was the judge from Queensland by any chance? It looks alot like Barbara Murfett.
-
Well we managed to get 4th today, Jarrah got bitten badly about 20 secs into the routine & finished the rest of it on 3 legs & missed a few moves, so I think we did well to get 4th considering it was our first competition. Also got lots of positive comments on the routine itself & Jarrah working from the judges afterwards so that was nice .

Thanx 2tollers, I will see what I can do about pics , if mine arent't much chop Rod the Petographer will be there taking photos as well, so there should be plenty on his site too.

Male Or Female For Obedience And Agility
MrsD replied to jonesy76's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
If the dog is desexed IMO it really doest make much difference either way. My 2 best dogs have both been male but that is more because of their temperament & drive more than their sex. Choose something with the temperament you want of either sex is my advice . -
Thank you Tassie I was feeling confident that we would at least get through our routine without embarrassing ourselves as I have him working fairly well, but I found out this morning that we are performing right next to the agility ring & agility is set to start at the same time as us, so Im afraid I have no hope. At least everyone will get to have a good laugh at my expense . Dagboy will be there videoing & it will no doubt go up on YouTube, so the whole world will get to see it too, don't worry you wont miss out

Dogmania is here!!!!!!!!! :D I will be at the Dances with Dogs competing with Jarrah on Monday in the Starters Solo section for anyone who wants to come & say hi, Jarrah is very easy to spot, he's the only red kelpie competing in Dances with Dogs section & will have a sparkly black & gold collar on. After the Dances with Dogs I will probably be spectating over at the Canine Disc cheering all the finalists in the Australian Canine Disc National Championships. I will also be there on Sunday at 11am for one of the demos but only as a spectator. So who else is going? I see that Hugapug has a stall there, who else is competing or going as a spectator?

First thing I taught Jarrah was to do a stationary weave. Did that on the second day we had him (he was an adult). Jonty I think it was sit then come. Whisper, I honesty can't remember, although come was up there somewhere .

Visiting Obedience Trial Ettiquette
MrsD replied to Reddii's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Tony, if you want to come down to Redlands on the 3rd of May we have a trial on that evening, Eddie & I'll be there - probably cooking the BBQ by the look of it :D . Never ever been to a club trial & NOT had to steward so being in charge of the cooking will be a novelty for me . If you want to know what's going on I can give you a quick run around the rings & introduce you to people. BTW, I agree with dogdude & the others, you will get more out of it without the dogs if you are interested in finding out the ins & outs of the trial ring. -
maybe next time.. but you can be assured i will be there to watch and cheer you on You mean laugh at me!!! Still no routine, nothing like flying by the seat of your pants :D .

Congratulations Rom . -
I've only just seen this, congratulations, what a great score . Look out Open .

BC4Me, if I can do it in 3 weeks, anyone can . Most of the girls who have been convinced to compete train with us on a Tues night & are the same as me & havent got a routine together yet. We are looking at only doing a routine of about a minute to some edited music, 1 min of doggy dancing isnt that hard . Tassie, its on a long weekend up here, but the doggy dancing isnt on until the Monday.
-
So .... a little bit of work ahead of you then MrsD . Wish it wasn't so darned far away - it looks like it's going to be a good time. You are going to post a vid of your routine, aren't you - for thsoe of us far, far away. :p Ohh come on ow Tassie, Im not that nasty that I would post videos of me on here, someone may see it without taking the proper precautions & die a horrible death . Wish you could come up for it, would be lovely to see you again . ETA - VirginBlue have got a big airfare sale on at the moment, you might be able to get cheap seats .
-
Well I have been sucked into competing in the Dancing with Dogs competition on the Monday - I have no music picked & no routine so far, so expect something very professional looking - NOT!

Anyone Do Obedience At Redlands, Qld?
MrsD replied to Miss Monster's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Usually either Jarrah or Whisper - Whisper hasn't been through classes yet, I think she's still in class 2? (that's how long it's been since we went, it was before xmas ). Jarrah is in trialling class which is at 7.30 in the 2nd lot of classes. -

Sean Kirkpatrick Dog Obedience
MrsD replied to jaegertheweim's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
:o Errrrrrrr, perhaps you should PM Squiggly Erin about them ....... -
Yes, if you go over the border & gain a leg in any other state you no longer have to do the sweepstakes up here. It's been like that for a long time now - I always liked doing sweepstakes cos it meant that I could win extra dog food :D . Yarrowfell - no problem .
