Oh...that's a thought. I used to do it with the horse, but I didn't think to ask if one could do that with dogs.

My dog and his cat argue over lizards. I have to intervene. DH would be most upset if dog ate cat. On the other hand.....................

I'm glad to hear it's been sorted. I'd been told a long time ago thet it only takes a grass seed to set off a good case of canker. When I took our old Wei in for some work on her teeth (about 12 yars old, so it happens), I asked the vets to also do a good clean out of her ears. I had a sneaking suspicion something was not too good in there and, as she was going under a general anyway, why not? They sort of ummed and ahhed and I insisted. When I picked her up, they said they did not know what I was worried about as there were only a couple of grass seeds in there. I just bit my tongue and paid the bill.

I love our cat doing the fly catching duty here. Saves me having to swat them. :p But blowflies? Yuck. I don't think they will do any harm, tho. Fresh protein and all. Yuck again.

Dry Food That Does Not Contain Wheat, Corn Or Soy?
noisymina replied to Erny's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Thanks Erny. Black Hawk seems a bit hard to source up here at the moment. Since Nutro seems to be back on the menu ...and there are local stockists of that .......... I think we will resume Nutro and see if it's as good as it used to be. -
I get countles injuries from being jumped on and bitten, Im sure triping over will come soon enough. Awesome video Mon.

Does anyone have a link to Black Hawk stockists, please? I did a Google, but one didn't pop up. -
Dog's Bladder Control When Sleeping After Exercise
noisymina replied to fainty_girl's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Call the vet and get a urine sample to them. If it is a UTI it will show in that. Spey incontinence seems random. Some of them get it really young. My brother's bitch was already incontinebt at 12 months - she was speyed VERY early.. My Dobe from about 4 years. She was done some time before 12 months. But I'm always flamed when I suggest that speying can be done too early. Go figure. . -
I've often wondered if they would be good mini-Dobermanns.

I use Drontal All-wormer plus Heartguard.

Flea/worm Preventative Treatments
noisymina replied to Teal's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I don't use flea treatment at all. My dog does not have fleas. If the cat has a flea or two (she seems to get them first), as has occasionally happened, I get a flea collar for each of them. The collar can be removed any time eg for swimmimg. Big saving. On the other hand, I do the Drontal all-wormers and the chewable heart worm too, which is a bit more expensive. -
So...where is the OP?

So....................what was the owner feeding her?

Add some eggs (raw) and some yoghurt.

How are they going? MY Dobe has areal problem with one paw. We have her on Sascha's blend and a pain killer. So I'm interested in any other options that might come up.

I had a vet trying to grossly over-service. Pulled the plug on them and went onto natural therapies for a while until I was given information (from a DOLer) about a good vet that opened very close to us. VERY happy with the new vet. When I outlined my experinece to the new vet, without saying any names, she just nodded wisely and said she thought she knew who I meant. I wonder why, hey? If you feel the vet is overservicing (or wanting to) ....move on. There are good ones out there ------one just has to find them.

Westringia fruiticosa has a very limited life span here. Dies off after a few years, so we are for ever replacing them. I don't think we will be planting any more. There are heaps of other plants taking over their places anyway. Can't get into the jungle at all these days without a tomahawk. .

I'm thinking an error might have been made in registering the pup. Can you contact the registered owners and ask them to check the papers and make sure there is not a mistake?

Well..I started Googling.. These sites say it is non-toxic http://www.busybirds.net/Toxic.html http://www.aspca.org/pet-care/poison-contr...-list-dogs.html These say Mock Ornage is - but it do not specify which Mock Orange they refer to. Could be any of at least three plants given that same common name. http://www.naturalhealthtechniques.com/vet...ous_plants1.htm http://www.doberdogs.com/Toxic.html http://reviews.ebay.com.au/Dog-Foods-Plant...000000002753111 Soo..then I found this site saying that they can be toxic to humans but the active ingredient, Saponins, is seldom absorbed, making them not much of an issue. http://www.weedyconnection.com/database/sw...ittosporum.html Seems the Aloe Vera I have everywhere also contains the stuff! Which then led to this most interesting article: http://www.pinnaclepetsupply.com/saponin.htm So yeh - don't let your doggy feast on Mock Oranges!
-
:p Got to laugh.

I hope not. We have a heap of them here. I've never seen them on the lists of plants poisonous to dogs. I think I would have noticed...seeing as we have them. Not to say they are not poisonous, tho. Our Wei used to eat everything out there. Very healthy dog she was. Lived to nearly 16 -----
