  1. THese are the BEST pictures LMAO
  2. Yes I did notice that so I looked elsewhere to see what the tartan ones look like. WHich one do you have for Mokha?
  3. It's nothing personal. She's just bored. Even when she's been for walks etc she can still get bored. Maybe you could build her a sandpit and when she starts digging in the garden firmly say no and take her to the sandpit. I dunno. Just throwing ideas around here. I've always found getting angry and yelling etc just makes dogs confused and scared and doesn't help. If I can find a calm and positive way to correct them I'll go with it. I've never had a digging dog - oh except one of my girls used to dig under bushes - she liked the coolness of the dirt I think. It didn't really bother me. I just kept putting the dirt back every now and then ETA - ooops sorry - I see you've already tried the sandpit LOL Note to self - READ THE WHOLE POST before opening big mouth :D
  4. As the thread title says they are ALL that price including the larger sizes. I just saw them on the website when I was looking for VANs food. VetnPetDirect Can anyone tell me what they are like? I have a Weatherbeeta that's sort of like polyfleece and I don't find it very good - seems to sit badly on my dallys, slips around and rides up on their necks and gets staticky. These seem to be a different material but I'm reluctant to buy WB again - any thoughts on this particular model?
  5. That's appalling. I used jetpets to get Tango to Tassie with no probs. How distressing for you and the new owners!!!
  6. Sorry I cant help you - he has great looking teeth otherwise tho! :D It does look like a baby tooth that hasn't come out.
  7. Good luck clairey! When I feed the VAN stuff I usually put about a third of a cup (depending on how many dogs and how big etc) in a cup, top with water to just over two thirds of the cup and let that ferment and soak for 24 hours. They get it mixed with raw meat the next night and I just make up another third cup with water when I feed them to soak over the next 24 hours for tomorrow nights dinner. Hope that helps
  8. Just a suggestion - along with the good suggestions already made re bones and psyllium husks. Have a look at the VANs Complete Mix. It is full of good stuff and has some grains aimed at providing roughage for elimination (ie they will appear in the poo). I raised my dally on the stuff and now that I think about it she's been having a few anal gland problems since I stopped feeding it to her. Might go order some myself Info The website has some useful info and pdfs etc - they are also helpful if you call them. You an buy it online and at some vets and pet stores. VetnPet Diret sell it and so do GreenPet
  9. Loraine - after watching them last night I think the horses really do think tango is one of them. He has this wierd thing where he keeps going up to them and nuzzling into their hair, quite obsessively. Last night the horses were sheltering from the wind on my verandah and I watched them out the window. They were nuzzling into each other and sort of biting each others hair - grooming I take it. Well what Tango does with them is very similar and they seem to really like him doing it. LOL Wierd dog. He can't get enough of them hahahahaha
  10. Vetnpet direct. They have the fairest and cheapest postage (ie flatrate Aust wide) for people who live in places like Tasmania.
  11. I ordered one Sunday at the cheaper price - thanks Not here yet but it's on its way!
  12. ;) That makes sense given how fabulously he's getting along with these little sweethearts hahahahaha (and how much he likes carrots and apples hee hee) I had all three of them - 2 horses 1 Tango trying to get a piece of apple out of my hand. Tango won just coz he was quickest. LOL
  13. Its so good to hear about all these other dogs that do the same as Pepper. And I love the way the title of this thread expresses it - "like he has lost his brain" - roflmao Oh and btw luvLottie - Lottie is gorgeous!
  14. And lastly Looks like we've got ourselves some friends for a few days. They are so cute, the older one is Cutey but I can't remember the foals name. They follow us around the yard like dogs - in fact they'll follow my dogs wherever they go. Tango didn't even mind when they crowded him and sniffed him while he was chewing on an old bone he found. What an amazing fellow he is really!!!
  15. Just thought those who are following this story might like these pics All because my neighbours son was too lazy to come and mow my lawn. I was going to pay my neighbours teenage son to mow my lawn. I asked him about it over a month ago - he brought the mower over two weeks ago - but still no sign of him actually mowing. Hahahaha Meanwhile lots of rain etc and my lawn has been getting out of control! His mum rescues a whole menagerie of animals - including miniature horses. So yesterday when he couldn't avoid running into me, he suddenly came up with this brilliant idea. "I'll just ask mum if she wants to put a couple of our mini horses in your yard!" Fine by me - I much prefer that to a smelly polluting lawn mower and I get free horse poo!!! I wasn't at all sure how Tango would cope around the horses (Pepper has been around them lots in her life) but these pics were taken within less than half an hour of them arriving. They say it all really.
  16. Really big soft crate from Topbuy for around $60 (also on it's way!!) Good to know the quality is reasonable SecretKei This will be my dogs first crate but I don't intend "locking" them in. I've got it as a way of helping Tango stay warm at night. Thought I might as well grab it while it was cheap. A metal crate is on my list. Probably from somewhere like Crazy sales as they are cheaper.
  17. My dally Pepper does it. I can even get her to leap up in the air and twirl if I manipulate the hose well - and turn in tight cricles after the water as it hits the ground. She absolutely loves chasing the water and makes all sorts of silly noises she doesnt normally make. But she hates being washed with it. Then it becomes a "bad thing" I love getting her to chase it - just seeing the sheer joy in her is absolutely beautiful.
  18. .... for as long as they like Mine also just wander in and out at their own leisure. They will sometimes go out to lie in the sun but generally they like to be near me. I walk them everyday too tho. It's funny because everyone thinks with dogs like mine I would "need" a big yard - but it really makes no difference how big the garden is. They don't do much in it anyway
  19. I don't live near there but good luck with getting people's attention Do they have a website where people can see the dogs they have there?
  20. Hi Jed! Just letting you know I'm reading your posts and thinking of you a lot, even tho I'm not posting much. I can't think of a thing I can do to help - but if there's anything anyone thinks of that I can do from here in Tassie - consider it done. I'm triffic with computers so you can always bother me if something goes wrong with the laptop..... or if you need some cheap/free good software. BTW I used to live in a shipping container. It's not a bad temporary option. Mine had windows, a proper door, insulation and lining inside with power and light switches etc. Great for storing stuff and wonderful for living in while building or whatever.
  21. Sandra- I agree and I tried something along those lines - I made him a home made "crate" out of a very large cardboard box and blankets following a suggestion I read in here (fortunately I'd just moved house so I had plenty of big boxes to choose from). But he wouldn't get in it or go anywhere near it no matter what I did. He was really very wierd about bedding - apparently all he had before I took him was just one blanket on the floor inside a kennel. So in the early days he would often actually dig a blanket out of the basket onto the floor and then curl up onto the blanket. I used to watch him struggling away trying to make it comfortable but really just pushing it into a wierd looking lump - and sort of whining very gently to himself and it would make me teary because I could imagine that's what he'd been doing for years. I'd let him alone and when he got up again I'd put it back in the basket and he'd go in the basket too. A few times I tried to put a pillow or something up against his side to help insulate him and he actually attacked the pillow when it moved toward him (fortunately I anticipated this might happen so my hands were always well away from the danger zone). THis is why I ended up giving him the big fat minky that was meant to keep ME warm ;) It really made a difference to his body heat levels, and I could bunch it up so that when he got in it was up the sides of his body without him thinking anything unusual was going on. I don't know exactly what happened to Tango in the past but he was very 'specific' about his bed and very scared of anything or anyone being over or around him. Now, not so much :D I'd love to get igloo beds for both my dogs (Pepper would LOVE it - Tango might.....not sure) but cost is a consideration - especially for larger size dogs. Maybe later when I'm feeling less drained from vet bills LOL and after I fix the gaping hole in the bathroom floor. I've actually always wanted to get Pepper one of those beds with the blanket sewn on three sides because I know she'd instantly know how to get in it and would adore it - but I can't really justify the expense when she's just as happy in her bed with a quilt over her - or in MY bed with MY quilt over her LMAO
  22. koalathebear - when I was reading that article I got the impression it wasn't even her own dog. There was a bit that said "The owner - not the lady in the video - called a vet and said the dog needed urgent attention". Something like that. If so, it's a good thing really but even more shocking that the woman was doing that. The poor little thing. How anyone, who calls themself a human being, can carry on doing that when the animal is clearly no threat and scared to death and being hurt .... - just beyond my comprehension. There was also something about the womans young son trying to tell her to stop - so that at least is something encouraging.
  23. Thanks! Puppy Sniffer - exactly - this is really HUGE for Tango. VC - you are doing amazing things with that rescued girl Can you believe Tango is NINE years old! He just seems and acts (and looks) like a much younger dog. Oh and MM - he was perfectly happy to have a blanket on him again the next night so it's definitely solved
