I breed bulldogs and have friends that are over there - also I am on the facebook pages of friends of the owner, it is nothing more than a sad political stunt - there is a facebook page in support of her owner - just search for Team Jenny, the profile pic is of her winning Bulldog of the Year

she is a stunningly sound bulldog bitch who was DQ'ed for a pin prick scar on her eye from an old injury. She was also Bulldog of the Year 2011 and a very worthy winner

I have the Satin Soft one in front of me & it says it is 96% natural with Coix seed extract, Witch hazel, Allantoin, Vitamin B6 & Epilobium leischeri extract (what ever that is?)It then goes on to list the ingredients...too many for me to put here, but it does have Sodium Lauryl Sulphate in it. I will have to get the Sensitive Skin one back off my daughter & see what that has in it. If that's any help. I normally use Alloveen, but have trouble getting it to lather up & usually end up using almost a whole bottle in one wash. Love the Satin Soft - I use it on everyone, and the Baby Dog is lovely too, gentle enough for clean ups on baby pups when mum doesn't quite do a good enough job

There was an existing population prior to restriction. I have been led to believe that this is not the case. I have not been shown any records to prove the case so I stand corrected if this is so. Two pure bred Pit Bulls were brought legally into this country many years ago and both went to the Gulf Country. To cut a long story short the dog was shot on the chain as he was so savage and totally unmanageable. The bitch was never bred from and also shot to get her off the shoulder of the owner as she had pinned him down. Just your trivia for the day :D I think you heard a story form a friend of a friend of a friend.The dogs were imported from about 1983 onwards until the import ban was brought in in 1992 so that is a 9 year period.I dont know how many dogs were imported but I could find out not that it matters but I would estimate it to be about 3 dozen maybe more in that period of legal importation and that is not accounting for semen imported.In that 20 years they have been banned from importation it has not stifled the gene pool.They honestly beleived they woulbe peter out but they were wrong.They will not be bred out of existence so they need to come up with some common sense policy for all dog owners becuase they are here to stay.There is still a diverse enough gene pool that they will never be eradicated from the Australian landscape.I am not saying this for bragging rights it is just fact,so if the policy makers read this understand it is fact and come up with something that fits. Dont know of your story but in 1985 2 dogs were imported into north queensland by a gentleman and they were extensivley bred from and were from a certain bloodline that is fairly rare these days.That may be the dogs younawere told about.However they were not the first dogs to enter Australia in fact far from it. More than 3 dozen, In Victoria alone there were 60 legally imported

Are you serious? All they care about is profit not responsibly rehoming. They pay around $35 for one puppy and the markup is massive. $1000 + at least each pup. Which Is why they will NOT STOP. They are not looking to responsibly rehome at all, they are after the markups! Seriously. So you are saying every petshop exists for the sole purpose of selling pups at a huge markup - well I'm sure some of the ethical pet shop owners will be pleased to hear that. As TD and RSD wrote - it is already being done. Seriously

and that is what we need - nothing emotive, no fingerpointing, no us versus them, and it takes away a huge chunk of the problem. Instead of puppies, with the right advice,training and suitable backup petshops could be used as one point of contact for putting people in contact with, and learning about available dogs in rescue. Not everyone wants a "rescue" dog no they don't, never said they do, and I'm by no means anti purebred - I breed and show myself, but I do not like puppies in petshops, and if petshops can't sell pups why not use them for rescue, and to balance things out they could also have contact numbers for breed clubs and Canine Orgs, our local pet shop refuses to stock puppies but does have contact numbers for breed clubs so when people ask they are pointed in the right direction.

Yes I am and yes I do and I certainly don't need your preaching nor your essay. I breed, I rescue, I train I exhibit, I health test and I assist as many people as I can. What I am trying to get across to you is that when some potential pet owner who doesn't know better reads your little spiel and gets to that line what do they think, I certainly don't need anyone telling me that because I charge money for my pups I am therefore, in your opinion,a puppy farmer. and i'll say it again for the upteenth time, im not talking about "charging" i am talking about people "breeding" their dogs for money and nothing else if that were so by what you say, i'd be putting up if breeders charge money for dogs they are a farmer but i haven't said that have i, i'd also say breeders should be charging nothing and giving away their dogs i mean its all common sense and straight forward if you have taken exception to it then don't visit my website. i stand by my little Spiel as you put it, and i have stood by it for the last 14 years thats its been there. so if i defend myself i am preaching to you when i don't know you from a bar of soap and what your experience is. i know what my experience is and i know where my heart lies. okay enough said spending time explaining myself to strangers. i've got other things to do. I picked my dog because she had a crooked ear, makes her look real cute. If that's what you want and it makes you luv the dog more , keep looking, but I don't think you will ge t much help here. Huh? There is plenty of help on these forums! In the first reply the OP was advised of three different British Bulldog breeders they could approach. They have also now learnt that liver is not a desirable colour and not allowed in the show ring, and they have been given reasons as to WHY this is. On DOL we promote responsible and registered breeders ALWAYS with NO EXCEPTIONS so no one here is going to pipe up and say "Ohh so and so breeds for livers, only $5k a pup!" Just because someone may not get the exact answer they were hoping for does NOT mean they have not been helped. My apologies, I thought ellan was being lectured, but she was being helped. maybe she could have gotten a defective dog with the wrong coloured nose from a breeder without papers or are they put to sleep. Actually that is an interesting question Mervin. What happens to those pure bred pups who don't meet the required standard? Are they all sold off as "pet only"?? To the rules of the ANKC all pups in a litter must be registered, so the Dudley or liver nosed pups are registered on the limited register (not for breeding or showing) a reputable breeder of British Bulldogs will also ensure that any Dudley or liver nosed pups are desexed before going to their new homes 1. because of the disqualifying fault they should not be bred from and 2. To stop them getting into the hands of the "RARE" color breeders who would see nothing but profits They are not euthanased as the fault is purely cosmetic.

Ah. I had no idea. So Dudley and liver/brown are different things? I stand corrected. No you are right - Dudley and liver are the same thing, there is a word missing in Bullbreedlovers post - it should say "Under no circumstances should the nose be liver colored or brown"

and what do you notice health wise apart from her color........learn to look beyond color - health, type and temperament come first.

And unfortunately these importers have nothing more in mind than breeding for color as both these colors are unrecognised and will never be used by genuine reputable breeders of British Bulldogs They are also using those dogs to cross and produce colored aussie bulldogs - which reeks of nothing more than money making from the so called "rare" colors......but hey, as they say a fool and their money are easily parted.

Liver nosed British Bulldogs are a breed fault, no reputable breeder goes out of their way to breed them - that is why you will not find them advertised.
