  1. OMG!! I follow Rainy Day Rescue on FB. They sound really beautiful people and would go to the ends of the earth if any of their dogs needed it.
  2. I don't have first hand experience of the difficulties you are encountering, Kajtek, but beautiful dogs ARE certainly missing out on a wonderful home with you. The grief we suffer when our beloved dogs die is compounded by so much when see the sorrow and loss mirrored in the dogs left behind. If you have even applied to a NQ breeder, you are spreading your net wide and I wish you every success. It would certainly be a long shot, but put your feelers into the rescue world as well.
  3. Had a chat with a neighbour while out walking yesterday - a lady I generally see only to wave at, but she was waiting for her husband to back the car out so we had the opportunity to chat. Naturally she asked my how my little tribe was getting on and then told me that her daughter had just adopted a GAP girl who was absolutely lovely, had her little [sic] green collar, etc :) :) Forgotten the doggy's name now, because I did ask in case she was known to anyone here; if I see her again to talk to, I will ask again.
  4. I remember. Nail biting stuff. Go Benny Boy.
  5. Is perse morphing into Souff ??? Off to watch vid now.
  6. To put some clothes on?? Those photos are just mesmerising.
  7. This how I feel, very strongly. I think we also need to remember that vets aren't god and are more focussed on treatment than the wider issue of a dog's socialisation and behaviour in society. I would not take a puppy to MPW. Mrs Rusty Bucket's list is very true and very depressing.
  8. Who could forget the you tubes of the three legged toy poodle do agility? Miniature Poodle? 100%. OMG - how could I have forgotten the German Spitz . I rescued and rehomed homed one and another who was a cross. Totally beautiful dogs. Even taking into account the dogs who have been my own, these two dogs were two of the nicest dogs I have ever ever come across. Would not have weighed 12kgs, though.
  9. Nothing like DOLers for hitting the nail fairly and squarely on the head.
  10. If Tor is intent on having a Boxer, I can't imagine anything more designed to keep her on track than those photographs .
  11. IT IS AN OMEN !!! Rupert is telling me that I should definitely use the painter who was at my house quoting today. He (the painter) said he uses Dulux. Totally scrumptious - Rupert that is
  12. Your family sounds just brilliant for any dog. But taking into account you are training for half to full marathon, if you want a dog to come with you, I think you need to look further afield. You'd be running at least 8k 4-5 days a week with a longer one thrown in every so often. I wouldn't be running even an 18 month old those distances unless he/she was Kelpie. Others will be much more experienced than I in terms of suitable dogs for running those distances, but it is a lot of running.
  13.   stick around - lots of funny and knowledgable people here.
  14. Marvellous photos, Canetoad. Jesse is so shiny and Jonah, if possible, is looking even more handsome. How is your hand?
  15. Well, if that is the only photo you'll get of Feather today, Kirislin, it doesn't matter because it is a beauty. Happy Birthday, precious girl. :birthday:
  16. Could not agree with you more. Possible long term side affects of meds are not a consideration at our dogs' ages. Someone said something similar to me about Danny and I just said, at his age, I don't think we need worry. Their short term comfort and wellness is what it is about. Did you see my last posts about Danny? Thank goodness cavNrott kept at me about ranitidine and I persuaded my vet to consider something different. So instead of three doses of .6ml of foul tasting liquid three times a day, he is now on .25ml of not so horrible liquid twice a day. The difference is astounding. Similar to your experience with Mac, I sometimes have this spritely little ball of red fluff jumping around, humping Jeune, telling Bunter off, etc etc.
  17. My first vet, a long time ago, used to say that the vet MUST listen to what a pet owner says. They are the ones who live with the pet and if they come in and say, there is something wrong ..... the vet must not dismiss it. One vet once told me I was "a neurotic mother." I had a very sick little dog who died at three and a half. Off to ask Mr Google what Doxycycline is. Go Mac Attack :winner: . I hope that figure reaches 50,000  Edited to add this extract from Wiki: "It is on the World Health Organization's List of Essential Medicines, a list of the most important medications needed in a basic health system."
  18. WOW!! He sure gets into that cleaning. Henry for mum of the year
