  1. Saw a FB story today. Wasn't Hume though. Horrible and frightening.
  2. Hard to believe a breed can change so dramatically in 50 years. . Remember the Grand Champion at Crufts a few years ago? A Peke who could hardly walk and wheezed like bellows. ETA: when I saw the pic, I thought the dog was a Tibbie to be honest.
  3. I agree Westiemum. Treatment worse than the problem = stop the treatment,
  4. Thanks DDD. He doesn't appear to be in any pain but he's a very stoic non-complaining type of boy. He was doing something weird with his back legs before I got the camera, my first thought was that maybe his arthritis was bothering him and he'd made himself uncomfortable when he was on my lap, then he started the wobbles. Gentle hugs to sweet Danny Danny saw this and has spent the day demanding hugs - LOL. Back to Seuss. Could be that he was just trying to sort out pains from being on your lap. Whilst I am not at the wobbling stage, I sure have some awful pains going on if I've been in the one position for a while. Seuss and I have age in common
  5. Sorry to hear that poor Mac had bad result from new meds. I don't have anything to suggest, but I hope other DOLers do. I believe totally that it is because of the support and suggestions from DOLers that I still have my Danny.
  6. I can't be of any help, YG. I've not seen anything like that. Just wanted to input that Danny's back legs are becoming weaker and vet said it was neurological and he wouldn't be in any pain. Hope darling Seuss stays fine.
  7. I agree with K and S. Pup sounds fine. Unfortunately, we can never fully protect ourselves or our loved ones from stupid.
  8. I have a couple similar to this one and they work well. Purchased from the pet shop (don't recall name) at Castle Hill home centre on Victoria Road. Luckily I have only one dog who gulps down his food and most of the time I just give him one meal divided between two or three bowls.
  9. Not to forget Westiemum the Wondermum.
  10. That sounds very very frightening, Wesiemum. Hopefully, Mac is a lot better this morning. I can't offer any suggestions, I'm sorry, but my thoughts are with you.
  11. Oh yeah. :( Bring in the psychiatrist. Such a silly attitude - even if you are joking, ash1.
  12. Deepest condolences, Ray. Your Greta was so beautiful. As you say, one the the pain won't be so bad, but the love you had for her and her for you will never change or diminish.
  13. Oh lordy. What an update - particularly the bit about having his own bed in his new owner's bedroom
  14. Two things operating in these situations: 1. Comfort of guests 2. Well being of dogs (and safety as per Mita's post above). My dogs get very excited when I have visitors or guests. If I know people are coming, I generally put the dogs out on the deck or put a barrier across the hallway so the people can actually get in the front door :o . Once everyone is safely in, I let the dogs in to meet and greet and after about 30 seconds of excitement, everything calms down and dogs go back to wherever they are happiest: mat, study, deck - wherever they like. If people are coming for lunch or dinner, It isn't unusual for me to come back into the lounge from the kitchen to find one or two dogs on laps
  15. Great celebration to look forward to
  16. At times like these, rules go out the window. **hugs** to you all.
  17. Deepest sympathies, swazzie.
  18. Depends who you see. I spent over $7000 simply on tests ( over three visits ) and the specialist i was dealing with was away the week my boys condition went downhill. I took him back there to be checked by another specialist, but he couldn't be saved. I never even received a phone call from the specialist i was dealing with for the previous three visits. Obviously when he returned and was updated, he simply moved onto his next patient. No compassion that's for sure. The local vet however was fantastic. I received a nice phone message and a very nice card from her and the whole team. How really awful for you, RL1. I had a very poor experience with a specialist last year. My dog and I were luckier than you, though, and my local vet, like yours, was fantastic and always at the end of the phone for me. Deepest sympathies.
  19. How wonderful, Better Late. Nothing more gratifying than finding something the relieves our dogs' problems. :happydance:
  20. What an update  . So glad Bru approved of his doctor person  - that's important. Thinking of you all having a good weekend and that Monday's test bring answers and treatments.
  21. Sympathies to Gem and you :) I hope you get some answers and, if unhappy or uncertain, DON'T HESITATE to get a second opinion.
  22. Wise advice :) and perhaps a cushion in case sitting on the floor with Bru is a better option than waiting room chairs.
  23. Hopefully more answers and positive treatment tomorrow.
  24. Thanks Coogie. Brisbane sounds blessed with some excellent centres. Thinking of you and yours today, swazzie.
