Thanks DDD! Have applied to join. Sounds like a great resource - I often have spare dog clothes, leads etc Oh good on you. The woman who started it lives at Dural which isn’t far from me and I often just drop in bits and pieces - particularly bedding. I’ll see all the parcelled goodies going far and wide on the porch waiting for pickup and delivery. Huge job!!

Anyone Using Artificial Grass
Loving my Oldies replied to Isabel964's topic in General Dog Discussion
If people are diligent, like Juice, it can obviously work. But how many people would do that, I wonder? Personally, I would (and have) go down the track of pavers to make a pathway and plant native grasses. At SASH in North Ryde (Small Animal Specialist Hospital), a place I have visited many times over the years, they have laid artificial turf. Now obviously it gets a helluva lot more use than the normal home, but OMG, the stench . Frankly, I have to steel myself and cover my nose just to walk the few metres past it. How the staff can go out there, toilet the dogs, and then walk back into the hospital without walking through disinfectant, is beyond belief really. There is a hose there, but with the amount of use the area get, any hosing is virtually useless. -
That last photo is very precious. She will very soon become your Pei’s guide and much loved companion.

What a wonderful record of a dog's life. Couldn't get any better. What a magic day it was when Benny became part of your home, Brandiandwe. :birthday:

Crikey! There are some pretty good photographes on DOL and you are def up there with the best. These are brilliant. The colour in the first one was striking. But they all are.

Before using any product have the vet check his tear duct function. If there isn't anything wrong except a bit of irritation get Optrex liquid from the chemist, soak a cotton wool ball and wipe both eyes regularly for a few weeks. This cleans the eyes and reduces, at the very least, staining. In my experience with Maltese, the staining was completely eliminated on one dog and almost eliminated on another. I always have Optrex on hand just to give all the dogs' eyes an occasional wipe over and have never had dogs with staining since.

Deepest sympathies, Isabel. It is frightening, devastating and such an enormous event when we have to make the decision for our loved ones. Hugs to you. -

Thanks everyone. He is a totally special darling and I am his. Even though he doesn’t know where I am until I am right in front of him, when I come back from walking the others or just from being out, his tail goes at 100 miles an hour and sometimes he even jumps around like spring lamb. His favourite treat is dried liver and cuddles with him mum. -

We carry on in much the same way. Danny has good days and not so good days. During the not so good days, he throws up quite a bit, but funnily enough it doesn’t seem to worry him as these throws aren’t great heaving episodes that can be exhausting - rather he just squirts out whatever he wants and goes on his way. The vet took him off the Doxycycline as it wasn’t having the desired result regarding his coughing and he is now on a puffer . He is such a good boy and just lies in my arms while I hold the spacer over his nose and give him gentle massages. HOWEVER - BIG DAY TOMORROW !!!! DANNY TURNS 17!!! :birthday: :birthday: And here is the most gorgeous little red man in the whole world   -

Yes, it is time for Punpunya to cross the bridge. She will find many DOlers’ Dogs over there. Blessings to you both. -

No advice, but certainly my thoughts are of you and your girl and your little Westie. It will be tough, but think only of your dog (is she Isabel or is that you?) and yourself. When she is gone, hold her and cuddle her for as long as you want. Don’t let anyone hurry you. (And think of the practicalities: have a towel or a mattress protector under her.) Hugs to you all. -
Is This Normal Or Do I Have Puppy Prodigies?
Loving my Oldies replied to Kirislin's topic in General Dog Discussion
Oh for goodness sake!! How can you even ask. OF COURSE YOU AND NEKO HAVE PRODIGIES   -
What exciting news. Dogs feel happiness, sorrow, fear, loneliness, like all of us, but I wonder if they have a perception of what they are missing out on - that is, what people/we think they should be able to do? I have a very elderly dog who used to run and play and race around and enjoy his walks, but now, the best thing in the world for him is to join me on the LazyBoy and snooze a few hours away. I am pretty sure he isn’t lying there regretting the passing of his youth. I am very happy you have more time with your little dog. It is amazing what finding the right meds and mix of meds can do. I hope you continue to relate the journey of “Days with my Dobe”
