  1. reminds me of a roo :) Tiny ittle, itsy, snuggly, dainty Kangaroo. Typo...... I meant Joey - silly me.
  2. LOL. She looks like a jokey in the pic watching the chickens. Edited: Joey not jokey.
  3. What a gorgeous face. Deepest condolences, NewAge. Run free and wild, Ziggy
  4. I recall a photo of NDN standing on the couch trying to make friends with a picture of (I think) her mum?? Secret sounds delightful and if you do all you plan with her, she should stay with you and HER mum.
  5. No, it is private and they got back to me, so good luck if you give it a go.
  6. Because the name looked familiar to me, I searched for them on my FB page. They don’t seem to be a closed group as I clicked on the underlined and coloured words that said “Very responsive to questions” and sent a message that way. It seemed to go through, so maybe try that.
  7. Whoops - not reading post properly.
  8. Well, I did say earlier that I hoped the commercial stations would pick this up (simply because they have a wider audience), but, true to form, they are just giving short bursts and totally avoiding the salient/vital points. :mad
  9. I went downstairs to bring in the bins. Jeune and Tamar barking and sniffing so went to investigate. A dead rat. Tamar ran away, but Jeune continued to investigate. On with the gloves and I picked the rat up to take him down to the compost heap. He was still in a state of rigor mortis, so not dead for all that long. In fact, I’d been in the backyard a few times today and he certainly wasn’t there - impossible to miss . I turned him over a few times as I was curious to see if he had any injuries which could explain his death because he looked plump, shiny fur, etc etc. I suddenly hit me: POISON!! Had he crawled into my place and finally died here? I have never seen a rat in all the years I’ve lived here (used to see quite a few when I lived in Dulwich Hill) and even if I had, I wouldn’t be putting out the traps or poison. Several houses have changed hands in the past few months and my fear is that new people are putting out poisons. I hope not as we are surrounded by the Lane Cove National Park.
  10. It was good to see this and being reported unemotionally and setting out clearly the problems that can result for poor breeding practices. I hope the commercial stations pick it up.
  11. Fascinating. Do you have to turn Seven, Starkehre, or does she just do that voluntarily after having been shown?
  12. OMG, Starkehre, your training program sounds awesome (in the true sense of the word :) ). I had to laugh at the pic of Seven feeding them all: she looks as though she is trying to be a statue and telling herself that it won’t be for much longer. I loved the photo of the little tail as well. Are you happy they will all have tails?
  13. WOW!! That is one helluva bill; my biggest one was nearly $7,000 and I paid without a single doubt that I was doing the right thing. However, I am very lucky in that I don’t have to justify myself or how I spend my money to anyone. I hope you darling dog continues to improve, Latoya.
  14. You will, Kirislin, and it will look so beautiful that even though your loss is enormous, you will smile. **hugs**
  15. What a roller coaster you and Secret are one, K. Much love to you all. She still has her mum - I’m having trouble separating them in my mind now. Still hard to believe Neko Daisy Ninja is a mum. Time goes much too quickly.
  16. That must be breaking their hearts. Glad they have you helping and, frankly, good on them for recognising their limitations. Best of luck. Oldie sounds and looks gorgeous.
  17. Well done, indeed. The latest issue of Choice has a large article on Pet Insurance including conclusions and charts of testing results. It would appear it is still a difficult product to get your head around; to quote from the article: ".... PDSs and websites have improved as a result of prodding from CHOICE, but some information can still be very confusing for consumers." Also: "In Australia, there are only two providers of pet insurance - Petplan and PetSure, underwritten by Alliance Australia and Hollard respectively. Between them they administer over 60 policies for 19 brands." Also: ".....although a policy may be great value, it needs to have the features and cover that best suit your needs." Another extract: WHAT TO BUY 1300 Comprehensive Protect [Premium] Medibank Gold Paw Cover Pet Insurance Australia Comprehensive Injury Cover Permed Ultimate These four comprehensive policies were solid performers across the board, scoring above the median in all scoring categories. CAVEAT: Please note that I have never looked at pet insurance because I have elderly dogs who would never qualify, so I am only quoting what CHOICE has to say. None of the above is my opinion or the result of any research :)
  18. This was the real point of my thread. The daily medication regime for my dogs is such that I print out a daily list and mark it off as the day progresses. A couple of the medications are given by syringe which makes it easier, but compounded meds are very expensive. The nutrigel trick has been such a relief for me one three accounts: Danny likes it, the pills don’t have to crushed to a powder as Nutrigel is so sticky and, best of all, I know all the pills are going down. Good luck with your little Westie. How is she since Punpunya’s passing?
  19. Sounds as though she is channelling my dearest darling departed Myrtie. Myrtie was a sex fiend with my legs and ankle.
  20. Others more knowledgeable that I might disagree, but I would say the sooner the better. If you live in an area where there are lots of dogs and lots of dogs being walked responsibly, the odds are that these dogs are being vax regularly as well, so your puppy should be pretty safe. I have to point out though that is a very strict rule of DOL that anyone who posts about a new puppy also posts plenty of photographs   Good luck with your new girl. Husky puppies are amongst the cutest
  21. One of my all time favourite “doggy” books is Calming Signals by Turid Rugaas. Until I read that, I knew virtually nothing about the concept. It is fascinating to see a dog employ them and even a small understanding by a person is invaluable for the well being of the dog.
