  1. Sooooooooooo envious of Chris. Was that Mumma Seven prowling around checking that all was well?
  2. Deepest condolences, SarasMum. Maddison sounds the dog for just about every heart. Such a loss

  4. We can share custody right? NO. You are overseas. LOL.
  5. Secret’s a prisoner. Aunty Danny’s Darling to the rescue. Hang on there, lovely. :driving: :driving: :walkdog: :walkdog:
  6. Mind blowing, Starkehre. I am sure many of us will be eagerly awaiting photos as these precious dogs grow and mature.
  7. Totally agree
  8. Too true, Little Gifts. The problem for me and, from being on DOL for many years, for many others is wondering IF they are enjoying the now. How can we be sure when their creaky bones settle into a comfortable bed or mat and they fall asleep, that they are not remembering the days when they were young and strong and pain free? I worry all the time about Danny and whether he is enjoying himself. One time through the day I know he is and that is when he chews down on his strip of roo jerky  . At other times, he wanders around looking lost . This is at the crux of Swain’s (and that so many others) dilemma: the not knowing. So many people say, “You will know when the time is right,” or, “You will see it in their eyes.” To be honest, I have never really totally believed that - unless a pet is so very sick that there is no doubt.
  9. You started this thread asking for help and advice .......... amongst all the gold is this piece you wrote that shines more than anything, for me. Another DOL going through the watching, racing around the house and yard when dogs not immediately in sight.
  10. Popped in my FB news. Is this next on your socialisation exercises and positive association programs?
  11. Honestly Starkehre, the more I read and see what you are doing with these puppies the more my heart cries for those little ones born into less caring and deprived situations. The outdoor play area is just amazing. All those different things for them to explore, experience, play with ---- just wonderful.
  12. That is so so sad - devastating for you. You, Buddy and your family have my deepest sympathies I have meds compounded for one of my dogs and I get it in beef flavouring and to be able to give it via a syringe is so easy. My first two dogs, about 23 years ago, were a Maltese boy and a girl from different breeders. When they were old enough to come home, I collected the girl in the morning, took her straight to my vet and he immediately picked up that something was wrong with her heart. She had a short (three and a half years) but happy life and barely a day goes past still that I don’t think of her. I hope you have some happy and wonderful times with Buddy.
  13. Absolutely right, LG. It is all about us and our living vicariously  Lucky lucky Secret. Oh K. Your life is going to be full of so many wonderful moments. It already has been, but it is going to continue.
  14. I often wonder about that regarding people who have Rotties, Dobermanns and German Shepherds for example. I remember a long time ago, I had 8 Maltese in my home: two mine, two belonging to a neighbour and four belonging to a friend. Someone asked me how I could tell them apart and I was quite surprised because, to me, they were all so very different and markedly so.
  15. So beautiful, Grumpette. Love your doggies. Happy Birthday, Zeph and may there be many many more. :birthday: :birthday: :birthday:
  16. “The council could be held responsible.” Where is the goddamned f**k**g law. Just horrible that dogs and owners like these continue to get off scott free. Actually, there is a woman in my area who has been walking [read “dragged along by”] her Dalmatian for years. This dog has attacked several times, she just pays the bills and the Council does nothing. I have seen her on Pennant Hills Road with the dog literally dragging her along. Consider the mayhem and worse that could be caused if the dog slipped its lead and ran onto PHR - six lanes and a very busy major road. People don’t consider the aftermath of these attacks, something I saw myself just the other day with astonished, horrified (and ultimately angry) eyes. I was gardening in my front yard when the woman who had one of her dogs attacked by this Dalmatian stopped to talk. We were on the footpath when another neighbour appeared (yet another who is dragged along by her dog) and my friend started to shake, terrified eyes darting all around as though looking for an escape route. I picked up one of her dogs and pulled her into my front yard. I was so disgusted that a totally innocent person is made to feel like this through the irresponsibility of others and lack of action by those who make and should follow through with laws.
  17. Sadly while we have owners like this one, we will continue to have to restrict areas where dogs are allowed :( :mad
  18. Thinking of you and Amber. You must be at vets this moment so answer soon. Hopefully whatever is the problem will be easily sorted and managed.
  19. All doggies and doggie owners should be so lucky to have breeders who put in the work and study and knowledge that you do, Starkehre.
  20. Your stories of “Life with [a] Secret” leave me with a trembling heart. Wanting to rush down there like those other ladies.
  21. He sure had presence, WM. A great little dog. Strange how they can look so good, yet inside they are close to the end. I have a photo of my first little dog, who was just a couple of weeks away from succumbing to his cancer. It is a beautiful photograph and I am so glad I have it. Before I had a digital, sadly, otherwise I would have so many more.
