  1. Such a unimaginable tragedy all around. Unless the little boy in hospital can remember with any clarity, we will never know the full story. My immediate thoughts are with what Persephone said. Can you imagine the emotional charge in the air that the dog would have picked up on? Poor dog would have been driven into a frenzy of conflicting actions as well, I imagine. I just hope there is someone in the pound with some sense and gives Buddy the benefit of the doubt. I also read on FB that the father who never even met the little boy (and his fatherhood is questioned) who died and hasn’t seen the other for about 6 years, started a crowd funding operation so he could travel to the hospital and funeral. When I was growing up and even into adulthood, the thing that always gave me comfort was that, no matter what the situation, I could always turn to my parents for help and/or comfort. For some children not to have that must be just about the worst thing ever. I just hope the grandmother is emotionally strong enough to help him (and herself) through this terrible terrible time which will never entirely end.
  2. I haven’t looked at the site for a while, juice, but they also have probiotics, green tripe, powdered pancreas, etc etc. I had a long conversation with them giving them as much information about Danny as possible and they came back with a very detailed daily regime. Because Danny was feeling sick at the time, I couldn’t put anything in food because he would not eat, so I used to mix everything into bone brother and give it to him via syringe. I credit their advice with saving Danny’s life. I’ve just had a look into the dog food cupboard and I still have some powderer pancreas left over. It would be at least a year old, I imagine, but I can’t find a use buy date on it. More than happy to send it to you (or someone here will tell us whether it should be tossed, I’m sure LOL). As for their treats, I discovered that the one thing I could be sure that Danny would always have a little bit of was their dried chicken breast. It was very thin and he (AND the others ) loved it.
  3. It is extraordinary for those who have been involved in pounds, rescue groups, fostering, etc etc, that the knowledge ISN’T widespread, but that is the case, and so these articles do such a huge amount of good. This is just like the plight of greyhounds. Despite the political fallout and yet more evidence of how people’s desire to make money no matter who or what suffers seems to triumph , Baird’s actions did a huge amount of good for greyhounds generally.
  4. These sorts of stories are so beneficial in educating people. Yes, lots of heartache and heartbreak but a helluva lot more love and gratification for having these wonderful animals in their lives. I follow a couple of rescue/rehoming FB pages and it takes me every ounce of willpower NOT to fill out the application forms for some of the elderly dogs. The only thing that stops me, really, is my financial situation ... OAP . I am sure I will one day see a dog who I simply cannot resist LOL.
  5. Juice, I wish you would at least talk to BM Animals. John and Marie their names are.
  6. Such a big move, Sandgrubber, especially with the dogs. Glad they are now safe and sound on the ground and you will soon be with them.
  7. Too right Wish I could do things like that Looking forward to hearing from an unjetlagged Sandgrubber and doggies.
  8. That is terrible, Sandgrubber. But only plain sailing (or flying) from now on
  9. I’m sure there are those who SAY that, but I have become very suspicious of all claims of pure, green, clean, organic, etc etc etc It’s like those items which are supposed to get rid of 99% of germs. So do good old fashioned hand washing and water
  10. I know ! I can’t remember how I eventually twigged - a long time ago. Maybe I was standing close to it and got the full blast ??
  11. You’d need to be 110% certain the cleaning company wasn’t using chemicals !!
  12. How I relate. Nothing like your experience, though. I was a complete nervous wreck just taking one of my dogs from Sydney to Brisbane . As soon as possible, I had the stewardess get me a glass of wine. Keep trying to look ahead to when you will all be on the ground and back together. Best of luck that all goes smoothly.
  13. Juice have you stopped using all those air fresheners around the house. I hope so. The moment I am near one of those things, I start sneezing, coughing, runny nose - etc. to me they are poison. Posting this made me recall the time I used to go to Enfield Vets when they were the pound. It took me ages to find out why, that every time I went into reception I would start sneezing and coughing. They had a clock which used to puff out scented air freshener !!!!
  14. So good to read, WM. I can’t believe the difference with my eyes too ; I was in such discomfort. I am sure it is the same with Sarah as well. I wish I had the photos to show you my original Maltese, Nammu and Calypso (long before I had a digital camera ) - their staining was so bad that one day when I was out with them, a little girl said to her mum, “Those dogs have blood on their faces.” It was when Nammu had a little bit of infection in one of his eyes that my vet told me about Optrex and since then (probably about 1994) I’ve never been without. I couldn’t believe the difference in the brightness and clearness of their eyes. Nammu’s stain disappeared never to return and Calypso always had a little tiny bit, but she died at three and a half, so maybe in time hers would have disappeared as well.
  15. That’s the problem we face: people are out to sell their products and we are generally not qualified to judge the efficacy or otherwise. That said, I really believe that consulting with a business in Melbourne referred to me by Valbitz, saved Danny’s life. BM Animals http://www.truelocal.com.au/business/bm-animal-well-being/bayswater 0488 144 675 They are closed today and can be a bit hard to get hold of. Their original suggestions to me, after a long conversation on the phone, were in a beautiful hand written letter - LOL - so they are of the old school. They are a husband and wife team who are very committed to their business and to their customers. However, I’ve used their contact us section on their website and never received a response. So it is best to phone them. Valbitz used to buy from them what I needed and send it up to me because that was quicker than ordering online. I’d def talk to them before you go ahead with a huge shopping basket of goodies. Mind you, I did end up with a fairly large shopping basket, but it certainly turned Danny around and we had another nearly two years together during which time, although he had his off days, he enjoyed his life.
  16. Gosh, I just about went through the screen for cuddles . She looks a bit reserved and may not have appreciated my impetuousness LOL LOL.
  17. Hopefully, she will soon be sparkling clean again. The eyes generally don’t look “bad”, LOL, but they can still have irritants there. I’ve started eyedrops myself because I feel as though I have a quarry load of grit in them at the moment. No staining though
  18. I am sure many of us have had the awful experience of having something stuck in our own throats and also stuck in our pets’ throats. I had a mad dash to SASH one morning with Myrtie. Luckily she could still breathe, but the bit of roo jerky had to be taken out under general. You are extremely forgiving of the chap who supposedly owned Egg, asal. To fabricate a story like that, to waste the resources of police, friends and get sympathy from all over the world is not something to be forgiving of, I feel. I hope the police throw the book at him. Poor little Egg.
  19. Just saw on FB that the story about the dog been stolen is a hoax, but the puppy died on Feb 9. Poor little puppy. Sadly the world has so many crazies who get their hands on innocent animals.
  20. And this applies to many many social issues. We have reached a very sad state of affairs. Of course, it was always thus and a damned sight worse; but today we have it emblazened across newspapers, social media, and what we also see now is how the powers that be wriggle and squirm and make excuses as to why nothing can be done. Solutions are there; governments at all levels just won’t do the right thing where money and their mates are involved.
  21. I would imagine this one you could just squirt a little bit into her eyes. I am sure she felt better
  22. Just the normal bottle. Optrex Eye Wash 110ml.
