  1. One of my hobby horses (should that be hobby dogs LOL) is that little dogs are still dogs and should be treated as such in terms of diet, emotional enrichment, play, etc etc. In the interests of education, here is my little foster dog, Stella, who has been chewing on this bone for over and hour. She brought it in from outside (sadly for the aroma in my house, but at least she is staying on the bedding ). Stella weighs 4 kgs, is about to turn 4 years old and when she started on the bone it was half the size of her head. I IM
  2. The colours are just amazing. Some of the green is almost iridescent. Love the top of Australia photo. You are creating quite a story, Canisbellum.
  3. I don’t let Orla sleep on the bed as she is just as likely to walk off I sometimes lift her onto the couch to snuggle, but not if I am feeling sleepy. The first time I saw her lying like that, I aged several years in a second LOL.
  4. You could try PAWS & Recover. They find foster carers for people who might be in crisis, hospital, etc etc.
  5. This is how Orla sleeps - hanging off the edge of whatever bed she is on. Bunter looks as though he is wondering what of earth his mum had brought into the house. Orla is nearly 16 (in December) and she is doing really well. Had a few problems at the beginning, but things are looking up. IMG_0492 by Cynthia Waters, on Flickr
  6. I’ve finally registered with Flickr, still finding my way, but after a bit of fiddling, here are some photos: I have my very own little Lion[ess] King. Behind the houses across the road from me is the top of the Lane Cove Reserve. I’ve never gone very far into it as I am not as steady on the old pins as I used to be, but a couple of weeks ago, I took Tamar and Stevie because I know I can safely let Tamar off the lead. I probably could let Stevie off as well, but he is a foster and off lead is against the rules and rightly so. I turned to check on Tamar and this is what I saw: IMG_0496 by Cynthia Waters, on Flickr
  7. Have you tried this page? https://www.facebook.com/EnglishCockerSpanielsAustralia/?hc_ref=ARRpeh9Uo5tAR8PZ5iFVOhBhr42jpy2Xe6elyizfwzjdlXUF3mtgaTKQ2cXjvk2bVZY&fref=nf
  8. Beautiful little pup, Hunbun (is that her name or nickname ? ) And well done, everyone for the super advice given to a newbie. Very encouraging
  9. Oh no!! . I am so sorry to read this, Boronia. You gave her such a lovely last morning let alone a wonderful life. I do so hope that she and my Little Red dog and all the others are romping in full health and happiness somewhere. Take care and time, knowing there will be a time when you will smile at all the wonderful memories and they will fill the emptiness.
  10. Mr Sheen in the form of meticulous breeding and concentration on welfare
  11. WOW!! WOW!! What wonderful photos and videos. You must be so proud and so absolutely deserve to be. Those doggies are just gorgeous. I am pleased to see that all the owners get up at the crack of dawn and polish their coats. Sensational, Starkehre.
  12. That is a doggy happy with her life
  13. I am in shock. The situation that pushed me back into fostering was that a lady had to go into hospital and needed her little dog looked after has taken a sad sad turn. Just checked my messages after spending most of the morning in the garden to have one telling me that Stella’s mum has passed away. I didn’t even know her, but feel so sad and shocked. Cancer is such a horrible disease, so many hopes raised and dashed and raised and dashed. At least she knew that Stella would be safe as she will be coming back here for fostering. . It will be lovely to see Stella again, but the underlying sorrow will be hard to shift.
  14. LOL, I well remember the time when both the vet and I were sitting on the floor with [forget which dog now] talking about treatment. Not because the dog was afraid of the table, though; it just seemed to happen. I guess we both thought of the dog and got down to his level.
  15. If a vet insisted on practices that I didn’t think necessary, I would be gone like a shot. Good luck on finding a vet that is right for you and right for Mowgli.
  16. If someone showed me that photograph, with or without context, I would say Lab or Lab cross.
  17. They are so gorgeous - such an unlikely pair. You must have a million smiles and laughs a day just looking at their beautiful, eager and intelligent faces, loving being with their dad.
  18. Such a huge loss, such a beautiful girl Deepest sympathies.
  19. Totally off topic . I don’t think I have ever seen Jandowae mentioned ANYWHERE, but it is a totally fabulous place. Why?? I was born there ...... a long time ago.
  20. Updates on Minnie are wonderful. According to her new mum, she is the most popular resident of the village. The village is amazing, by the way, must cost a fortune to buy into, but it is more like a village than a village LOL. Lots of walks, beautiful gardens, some of the vantage points have breathtaking views; there are communal places, an indoor swimming pool where (when we visited)people were doing aqua aerobics, a restaurant, such a great place. So happy for Minnie and her new mum.
  21. Thanks for all the responses - very helpful . I did use the conditioner and, oh boy, it made combing and brushing her out soooooo easy.
