  1. The height of my bed is 52cm so virtually all of the ones available were of no use. I finally found a set at Innovations which were perfect ....... for going up LOL. They have never been used for going down. The dogs still launch themselves off the bed, but I try to forestall that and lift them down as much as I can. If you have the room, I would be inclined to make a set/have a set made to order, or better still, have a ramp. Despite being the right height, the stairs I have are steep and the individual steps are quite narrow. Another positive for them is that they fold down and then I just slide them under the bed. I’ll get some pix and post them.
  2. Just so sad, frustrating and makes me furious @gillybob . Somewhat off topic, but in light of gillybob’s post, yesterday afternoon, I was out walking my elderly three (Orla was sound asleep so I let her be ) and saw coming towards me a teeny weeny little baby Dachshund. OMG, I nearly died at the onslaught of cuteness. Because Tamar can be inclined to bark, I shortened her lead and continued on until we met. The little dog was having her first outing after puppy school having completed all her vax. Tamar, btw, was obviously in loved and didn’t bark at all. The couple were obviously entranced with their little one and they said that they were so happy/relieved that their first meeting of new dogs since puppy school was such a positive one .... I was too LOL. My only fear was that the baby’s tail would be wagged off. OMG the joy and happiness of a little dog. We can only pray that all future encounters will bring her continued joy.
  3. I would imagine the answer to that is, “Yes.” That sort of a/hole always would blame others and aggressively as well.
  4. Yes, report. As to your comment about a man bullying an elderly woman: this is so true and I too am so sick and tired of it. I have been bullied by men as I walk my dogs and also by tradesmen who come to my house. I know that they would NEVER speak to me the way they do if I were a couple or another man. On the other hand, I meet plenty of men and women who are decent and caring, but sadly the ugliness of bullying is something that leaves one so shaken and horrified at the nastiness and aggression of some people that it is hard for it not to take the upper position in one’s heart and soul.
  5. Oh! Well done, @RuralPug, to find all those links. Such gorgeous dogs.
  6. LOL - hope you find it soon Loved the photographs @The Spotted Devil
  7. Ha ha ha - I didn’t think of being greeted by a big dog on the inside. But that security aspect sounds excellent.
  8. Where would you go to have something like that installed? Would be useful for those of us who don’t get around the doggy events and would be such a boon just for when you wanted to take your dogs out with you en route to visiting, beach, wherever.
  9. These doors would be big enough for a person to go through. That would worry me
  10. I saw this at the vet hospital yesterday and was so taken I had to photograph and post here. There weren’t any dogs in the van at the time, but probably wide open to keep it as cool as possible. Great if you just have to pop into the shops quickly or whatever. 11. We need to remember that they are all different ....... and generally as loveable . Please keep us updated as we all love “happy ever after” stories, as I am sure this will become.
  12. Emmi is beautiful and, judging from what you told us in your post, it would seem she has made some enormous strides in the past couple of days for a little dog who has been through so much.
  13. Unfortunately, dogs don’t speak human and we don’t speak dog, so matter how many times you tell her that she is safe, secure and loved, only time will tell her that. As hard it is will be, I agree with those who say to let her be and give her more time. The last few months have been a huge roller coaster for her and she needs to heal emotionally and psychologically from all the upheaval. Good luck and may your mum and her dog (no name in all your posts ?? ) soon be an unbreakable partnership.
  14. Freezer bags. 100s for a few cents.
  15. I just hope that the Little Red Boy isn’t too bossy
  16. Such a darling man. The passing of time is so damned scary.
  17. Deepest sympathies, twodoggies. So damned hard. Jasper.
  18. I sincerely hope the medication helps your little dog. Cortisone might be “hard core” but it can be magic solution and not necessarily for her life time. Good luck and keep us posted.
  19. Her photographs are amazing. She is so gifted. Hard not to have a tear in the eye when I see her on FB and think of Ralph and Rocco.
  20. What a gorgeous pair. Hard to believe Didi is four.
  21. Darling little girl. I do hope you find some answers which can be addressed reasonably easily.
  22. @Rascalmyshadow I am sure you are much too experienced to do this, but many years ago my sister had a dog who only had to give a muted bark for her (my sister) to practically have hysterics about what would the neighbours think. Naturally when anyone, invited or not, came to the door, the dog would bark and my sister would be running around hysterically yelling and waving her arms at anyone who was home to grab the dog and shut him in the bathroom. Well, you can imagine what this did to the poor dog - he was a total wreck. This is not an exaggeration.
  23. Poor darling. My little Myrtie was highly reactive on the lead when we were out walking. I knew it was because she was afraid, but others just saw a snarling barking little ball of fur. She was also the one who was afraid of storms and I used to give her the tiniest dose of valium. You say she is okay until someone moves/stands up which makes me wonder if she is having some vision problems. I would be getting her eyes checked. And I reckon that thickening scar tissue must be causing her a lot of discomfort. Easy for us to be armchair experts, but I wouldn’t be letting her go until she has been checked up thoroughly from top to toe. I appreciate what you said about not having much room to set up the crate, but, if possible, I wouldn’t be moving it when you know people are going to visit, but rather just close the door of the crate. Just trying to think of anything that could throw her off balance.
