  1. Well [hands on hips and pouting] get ya butt in here Westiemum.
  2. LOL. It is a work day, I think, so I managed to control my curiosity. I confess, I thought about this and wondered how @westiemum and Sarah managed.
  3. I would have thought the scrambled egg, butter and cheese a bit rich. I always have rice and puréed vegetables to mix in with the dog food. Funnily enough, Jeune has started to ask for midnight snacks. Luckily she and Tamar still have no difficulty getting on and off the bed (they jump off and use the stairs to get back on) so no problems re toileting through the night. If you wanted to give her egg, what about hard boiled and mashed up in rice. Keep us posted as to what you do and how it turns out.
  4. @Maddy you are so right, but your post makes me feel so sad for the dogs. The owner of that a Great Dane needs a kick up the backside for allowing the dog to be placed into such a position. And don’t get me started on the stupid other man.
  5. Orla (now gone to god ) had these and the relief was almost immediate. Mezza has just finished .... and made not a jot of difference. But, of course, knowing they were available, I had to try. So, yes: can be different result for different dogs.
  6. Thanks for that. He is totally adorable. He nearly had a brother An identical boy popped up on a FB page the other day. I nearly fell off my chair and even took details thinking I might ring the pound. I need another dog like a hole in the head, but I knew Mezza would love a little playmate. Luckily, the little guy popped back up with a note saying his owners had found him and he’d gone home.
  7. All goes very well here although Mezza and Tamar are still not playing . But he and I have tuggy toy games and ball games; he loves it when I chase him around the house trying to grab the rope toy or ball And I am finally NOT kidding myself with wishful thinking. Mezza’s hair around the base of his tail and his back IS growing back. The pink area was quite a violent pink and had the barest minimum of fuzz on it. Now normal colour and a lot of much longer hair. Very pleased. IMG_0708 by Cynthia Waters, on Flickr IMG_0707 by Cynthia Waters, on Flickr IMG_0706 by Cynthia Waters, on Flickr
  8. Scary scary, particularly with blood in the vomit. So relieved that all is well now. I bet you lost a bit of weight too!!
  9. Why do you want to close down or delete this thread? DOLers invest a lot of time and emotion and, most of all, caring into their responses and thoughts and good wishes. Dogs and their owners become part of this community; we want to know the outcomes because we do care and also because this sort of discussion may help another little dog down the track. We would like to know what the answers are and what has happened to your little Pomeranian. Here is my little guy, adopted from a pound just over 5 weeks ago ...... just to show that we can relate and know the anguish you are going through. IMG_0663 by Cynthia Waters, on Flickr
  10. A peaceful passing with his loved and loving human there with him. Deepest condolences, Karjirin. faithful Scout.
  11. W.H.A.T. ??? How on earth do stories like this get so skewed? As if the community wouldn’t be traumatised enough. If this tragedy has been misreported, then someone needs more than a big kick up the backside.
  12. Go for it It is so hard to lose a much loved part of the family and this sorrow can be really compounded by seeing the grieving of another pet. Condolences to you all and we DOLers will look forward to seeing photos of your new family members when that time comes.
  13. Let’s not be so obsessed with love of a breed or any dog that we turn a family’s life changing tragedy into a breed discussion. Just let’s leave it here as what it is: an immeasurable tragedy that will change so many lives forever and from which the parents will never recover.
  14. I think OP said puppy was scared of the bowl.
  15. Oh my goodness. That is awful. I would take up the breeder’s offer, but go to another vet who is more willing to seek answers and, hopefully, remedies. Unless, of course, your little dog is in continuous pain and fear.
  16. This sounds awful. Terrible for puppy and for you. As Tassie says, keep a diary of these episodes and anything that might have happened through the day. Hopefully something the vet will find that can be treated.
  17. A lawyer joined DOL a couple of years ago. Forgotten her name, but other brains will probably recall.
  18. Is Meloxicam an appetite stimulant as well, I wonder? Although Jeune is far removed from a Labrador I think she must be channeling Trouble. She is on a daily dose of Meloxicam as well and although she still carries on as though I’ve given her a bowl of poison, once she starts eating (can take up to 15-20 minutes of staring at the food and prowling around) she eats well. AND!! She has also been wanting a meal late at night which, of course, I give her because she did lose quite a bit of weight a couple of months ago, anything she wants she gets Edited because I am an eejit Jeune is on Piroxicam, but the question still remains - I wonder whether it has some appetite stimulant in it.
  19. DesertDobes regarding putting something on the lump ..... I know you said that Sniper didn’t seem to mind the aspirin, but if there was something stronger the vet advised and tasted awful you could mix it in Nutrigel. These cancers ARE common as you say. My Jeune (6kgs and 17 years) has a tumour under her spine at the base of her tail, but it isn’t causing her any discomfort. Not nearly as fast growing as Sniper’s or Trouble’s, but she is on Meloxicam to slow the growth rate down. Her demeanour, activity rate (like a snail) and other habits haven’t changed except she has started demanding a meal at 11pm which I am more than happy to give her as her weight started to fall dramatically a couple of months ago. Not Meloxicam .... Piroxicam.
  20. So sad to hear that, T. Don’t predict ..... she could be well and happy for longer than you think. We can only hope so.
  21. Any chance to work around this, I wonder. RSPCA is the same body, just State branches.
  22. I think this needs investigation by whoever investigates how approvals get through Councils. In my opinion, it stinks to high heaven
