Wasn’t it Enzi who had a growth on his lip?

Well done, @jwtfor recognising the difficulties of your situation. You tried, you asked for help and guidance and you have come to the correct decision for your family and for the dogs.

I’m not doing anything as productive as writing a thesis , but when I go into the study and sit at the computer, I’m followed silently by four little dogs who settle on their beds and rarely make a sound ........ unless it is around dinner time and then Mezza might make his presence known.

Is this buddy permanent or just visiting? So Beautiful. I love bullies

No, @westiemum , the poster isn’t a troll. She also posted a pic of her backyard asking whether a greyhound would get out. @~Anne~. Meh, indeed. There are a lot more issues than shutting the dog away: child has to be taught not to hurt animals; poster doesn’t want to be disturbed while she is working; doesn’t want a dog who needs attention; dog would be rarely walked. We we don’t need to “lighten up” or be lectured by you. We are looking at the while situation as described by the poster. Read in full before you fasten on one area.

Make an appointment with your vet. Before the visit, make a list of everything you can think of that you’d like advice on. It will be money well spent. Good luck and most of all, both of you have fun

I’ve been biting my tongue, @juice, but you have said exactly what I have been thinking. Except I wouldn’t even suggest a cat as: "It took nearly a year to teach not to squish guinea pigs.” Cats can be gorgeously squishy, but they can scratch. Getting a dog should be like getting another family member. Unlike a new family member, a dog isn’t shut away to have a couple of hours afternoon snooze. @jwt, it is good that you have asked these questions and told us about your family situation, but I, too, am having difficulty understanding why you want a dog. You have to consider the dog’s needs as well and if you have doubts that you can meet those, put “having a dog” back on the list for a time when you feel more up to it.

I would not risk it. Those trunks would have to go from my place. Even little dogs like JRs could use them to get out.

"It is a very important case because had Ms Holborn being successful in getting her dogs back it would have set a very bad precedent for not just all dog rescue organisations but for people adopting dogs from dog rescue organisations." Frankly, I think it is a disgusting result. The dogs should have been returned to their rightful owner. I’ve not read the full story or followed the saga, but went quickly to their website. Everyone is congratulating them so I guess I have missed something ?? Council should have been sued for not doing their job in the first place.

Trying to find this dog quilt/bed
Loving my Oldies replied to IWEYB's topic in General Dog Discussion
They’d be easy enough to make, I imagine. A couple of cheapie doonas and fabric of your choice. -
There is a breeder of Aust Shepherds who does a huge amount of showing and has a lovely time with her dogs. She is very careful to watch whether her dogs enjoy it or not and quite often talks about how some just love it, others do it but not particularly fussed and how she doesn’t show those who don’t enjoy it. Very interesting perspective, I would have thought. Mainstreet Shepherds is the name. She used to be A DOLer, but you will find her by googling and she is on FB.

Pet medication at chemist
Loving my Oldies replied to giraffez's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Lots of medications are the same for humans and dogs. However, humans are covered for most under the PBS as @Diva says. A couple of the medications that I am on, my dogs are taking as well. But I wouldn’t give the dogs my meds as dosage is critical ....... although I have had so much pain lately that I look rather longingly at the bottle of liquid codeine in the cupboard that I no longer use for Bunter as I am now giving him a tiny little pill rather than having to wrestle with him and get bitten in the process. -
LOL!! You said it so I don’t have to. @kamuzz my groomer who is literally 50 metres down the road from my house is a breeder of Standard Poodles. She regularly has a few of her dogs at the salon and they are extremely loving and fun dogs. When she has a litter she has them at the salon (once they are old enough) as well, so they get lots of socialisation with lots of other dogs. If your colleague would like to meet a few, she would only need to give Jeanette a call and arrange to visit the salon when Jeanette has some of her dogs and/or puppies (no puppies at the moment though I think). All her “pet” dogs are just cut in the shaggy cut and look beautiful. She does show and I have seen them with the show cut as well (I will hold my tongue LOL !!!). Many of her clients are her puppy buyers and many have come back over the years to adopt again and again. Phone 0418 698 831 (Styles Dog Grooming)

The Hugging Dog , Loubie :)
Loving my Oldies replied to persephone's topic in General Dog Discussion
Meeting up with her (provided you received approval) would have made so many people’s day. -
Beautiful. And, as you say @sandgrubber, no surprise. I well remember my eyebrows disappearing into the rafters at a post from several years ago wherein a rescue group was wondering whether to adopt a dog to a sixty year old as that was sooooooooooooo old. At the time I was well into my sixties and had six dogs. Now, in my early seventies, I have only four with the last (Mezza) being adopted direct from the pound in January. Definitely reached my limit though.

Well I am going to be a hopeless judge as I don’t see how you can get much better. Wow to your skill and Wow to Bella Bella.
