  1. That wouldn't satisfy. A brand can't stop them from doing it again. The idea is that people would know they were perpetrators of some heinous act and they would be shunned. But you are right, who could deliver the lethal stroke?
  2. I'm not going to read it and I think you need to amend your post, Kelly Louise.
  3. Where actually is the breeding going on? Are the dog with some parishoners or what? Do you know any more? If you PM me the details, I am happy to write a letter (polite, but informative) to the Head Person.
  4. Yep - here it is: http://www.spot.nsw.gov.au/spot_index.asp
  5. Isn't there something already around like that? The SPOT program ?? Must google.
  6. I agree these people are jerks but please keep in mind not all Christians are brainless morons. I am referring only to the people who are taking part in this senseless, NicGSDlover, I can assure you . You are preaching to the converted here; you need to go to the source - the Church/people where it all started.
  7. Are you kidding. If the poor dogs got into trouble birthing the people would just put their hands together and say, "It is God's will." I would be letterbox dropping to all the people in the parish. How can people be so bloody stupid. Show them photos of matted dog, the stats for the Maltese an Maltese crosses in pounds. Remind them of St Francis.
  8. Beautiful update, Caz. Tammy sure is special. Lovely Lani She's trying to get bigger than Rocko.
  9. Yes, yes they should. And preferably on the fore-head. That's what happened in days of yore .... back a few hundred years. How ghastly that we have progressed so little that we can think some of the penalities are worth reviving. :D
  10. Boof's story is also here. http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=186665
  11. I understand where you are coming from, Rocco. The first dogs I had were little Maltese and I learned that they were the in the top five of stolen dogs and then when I became involved in pounds and rescue, I discovered that they (and crosses thereof) were one of the most common dogs in pounds generally in dreadfully matted states. People who bash dogs and children should be branded.
  12. Caramel's li'l tongue was poking out the other day and I have to confess, I did just that GayleK
  13. If I sent an email like this to ANY breeder, I would hope I'd get a reply that stated the price and availablilty of their pups. Any screening should come later and no breeder or anyone else, should presume to judge a buyer based on one email consisting of not very many words. Obviously I am not a breeder, but I am a foster carer and if I received an email like this, I would respond by attaching an application form and ask them to complete it. The adoption cost is on the dogs' listings and the listings show that he/she is still available. I had one email: Very interested in XXXXX contact ASAP !!
  14. Never a truer word . . . . . In fact I find it quite scary to see the difference between the older vets and the younger ones. I know they have to gain experience, but some of the younger ones seem to have very few skills. They may be brilliant on paper, but it is in the clinic/hospital where we need the expertise. And this is why I do not understand complaints about vet charges to an extent - we would not expect our GP to do all of those things. My vet has a chart in one of the consulting rooms setting out all the specialist categories that a vet does: there are 37. And, yes, complaints about the charges p*** me off too.

  16. Perhaps a copy of this should be included in every adoption pack.
  17. How thrilling . She is a stunner alright. Who's the dog in your signature?
  18. Many don't I'm afraid. Sad, but true. I would probably change "many" to "most" . Such a pathetic ignorant attitude of Councils.
  19. That is just plain ridiculous and I'd like to say more . Fancy tarring the whole profession with the same brush because you seem to have had some problems. Dogs are living creatures. Of course they are going to have problems.
  20. You must have wanted to hide in a dark place and cry after that. Tragic.
  21. Do they come in different colours - to match the furniture and all that, you know ?
  22. Apart from that, what an arrogant ignoramus Trying to second guess how you can be abused/questioned/accused is reaching ridiculous heights. I collected Silvie from the vet this morning (after desexing) and then I had to do a quick message. I left her in the car and contemplated writing a message to put on my dash for anyone concerned about a dog in a car ..... it was totally overcast and cooler in the car than outside having had the aircon on for a while. I was probably gone for a maximum 5 minutes and it was still cooler in the car than outside - LOL. I didn't leave a message.
  23. I really like this idea And what about the dog over the road who is the father :D
  24. Another thing that P@#@#es me off is some of the headline stories these articles are given. The title makes it all sound jokey jokey. A heading that showed the story was of animal cruelty would still get the same number of people reading it.
  25. As this "person" is wanted on other charges, I can't imagine it will be long before he is apprehended. I don't understand what is meant by the neighbour "retrieved the dog" either. I wonder if he has used the wrong word? And waiting two days!! Extraordinary. Although the fellow who beat Boof sure sounds a mental case and it would be damned scary being around someone like that. But if one neighbour saw, surely others did as well, or heard :D Curtains twitching and then people ducking for cover.
