It seems as though a few of you know this place. Can I suggest you ALL write separately to the Health Department and the Local Council and the RSPCA. It is only through joint efforts that anything will ever get done. These people must be made to stop the torture (because that is what it is) of animals.

Perhaps you can also report them in writing to the Council and your State and Federal representatives.

Good for you. I hope the RSPCA gets there. Poor little kittens. ;) My only concern is that the shop will be doing a frantic clean up and the kittens will have "all been sold" by the time the RSPCA gets there.

I can't remember where you live, CW. However, see the thread about asking for a vet in the Hornsby area. Several suggestions including a vet at Epping which may be closer to you. I'm pretty sure Animal Tracks at Homebush would desex. Concord Animal Hospital opposite the West Concord train station.

Dogs surrendered don't usually come to a good end going by the statistics. for taking care of him. My thoughts too. And second thoughts were that because he is so small, even small childrem could look like huge, looming monsters.

I wish more vets were like that. Too many legs being operated on. Poor dogs. My little old rescue, Mufti, throws his front legs out and around like a Komodo dragon, but then he has an old injury we think and he has been compensating for years.

What Person A wants may not be what Person B wants. Neither of them is wrong, but some people want to think like that.

Sad isn't it. If these were the only sort of BYB, it might not be such a massive problem. It's like people who take "souvenirs" from ancient sites, or plants from protected park areas: oh one little piece/plant/whatever won't make much difference. The difference is made when a million people say that. Make sure these people know that Maltese and the various crosses are HIGH MAINTENANCE dogs in terms of grooming. Oh and make sure that really really know who they are selling the pups to. When I had two Maltese many years ago, I was approached by complete strangers asking me to sell them. I didn't realise at first that they weren't wanting my dogs because they were so gorgeous ..... they wanted them as money making machines. :D

Someone must know something; people like that would be bragging - but only to their mates who are probaly slapping them on their backs and making all sorts of horrible jokes. Let's hope one of those mates finds some decency and lets fall a word or two where it might help. As for the family . It doesn't bear thinking about what goes on in their heads and hearts. As we all know it is bad enough losing a much loved animal to old age after a life well lived, let alone in these sorts of circumstances.

I think it is not so much putting the dog above their friends. I think it is more the case that something can go wrong in a split second and lives can be ruined. And I certainly have thought along the lines of the part of your post I have highlighted. But that also depends on the mind set of the mother as well. So many variables.

Definitely no flaming, Andisa - LOL. I just feel if the toddler is frightened of dogs, the friend knows there is a lively, very much integrated into the family dog living there, she could make other arrangements. I guess it depends too on how long she wanted to stay.

Have to say that I agree with this. If this person is a true friend she would realise the invidious situation she is putting you in and elect to stay in a motel. Not dog related, but just to show that I understand that it is can be difficult to tell people they can't stay with you. Years ago, I had to tell my elderly father that he could no longer stay with me (he was in another State) when he visited Sydney as he was too shaky to be left alone all day while I was at work; he had fallen a couple of times at the home he lived in in Brisbane. :D

Seriously? You think it's ok for someone to break in to an animal shelter and steal a puppy? There are any number of reasons for an 8 week old puppy to be in the shelter: surrendered by a BYB who couldn't find a home, seized by an inspector for not being looked after properly, pregnant mother surrendered and puppies born in care, etc, etc, etc. Why would the RSPCA want Sefton back? Maybe because they have no idea if he has gone to a good home. Maybe because if someone is going to steal a dog they don't in fact have the best of intentions and perhaps are involved in other criminal activities like say dog-fighting. Why make an issue of it? It's a crime! People aren't supposed to be allowed to go around stealing things, animals included. I am absolutely stunned that anyone would question the RSPCA making the theft public and trying to get the dog back. The RSPCA are nutorious for euthanasing shelter dogs that no home can be found, why add to that possibility wanting it back???. Further more, what can the RSPCA offer someone in the quality of an 8 week old GSD puppy of unknown parentage and bloodlines???. The RSPCA would be aware that oddball GSD breedings should be met with caution in regard to health, temperament and other factors that relates to the breed. You scare me, Black Bronson. :D

This is very late, BB, but I very very rarely come into Rainbow Bridge page. I couldn't believe it scrolling through the topics and seeing the beautiful dogs who have crossed The Bridge - and some of them so young. As for Charm . You have bred such gorgeous dogs, and Charm was such a wonderful ambassadress for the Shar Pei breed. My sincere condolences.

Although she is alive and kicking, I sometimes think that Tamar (Maltese with teeny bit of Shih Tzu) wants to disprove this. I suppose it has long since fallen off DOL, but I posted a series of photos a couple of years ago of Tamar looking (yes, just looking) at a bowl of food. She and Jeune (large Chihuahua something) are quite extraordinary. You'd think I was trying to poison them, the way they carry on. Hard to say what is going on with Charlie, considering what he has been through, but if vet is happy and his weight is good, try not to worry.
