  1. I have started minding a gorgeous Manchester Terrier one day a week. His totally besotted owner drops him off on Thursday night and collects him Friday evening. It is wonderful to report that he is starting to feel at home and very much welcomed. I went out to check where he was - all dogs love my backyard because it is quite large and has dozens of dogs run around it, but it wanted to be sure he was okay. He sure was:
  2. Megan, your aplogies more than accepted . We need to hear more about the adventures of Lucy.
  3. "Fobbing off" isn't what I was suggesting nor even hinting at. If you read the OP, it seems from what she was able to see that day was not a dog who had toileting issues nor a dog that had issues with men. Further temp assessment needed (Cosmolo is set up for these, I think) definitely, but I like to think dogs stand a chance if there is one and if it could prove to be the best for the dog (ie a 'happy ever after' ending). I have seen several times in the past few days that people are not reading entire threads and leap in without bothering to get the full story. As I said in my post, the poor little chap's biggest problem was his awful owner. As for adopting old dogs, just read a few of dogmad's stories and a few of mine. We are both older dog people because that is where we are drawn. And this attitude doesn't even bear commenting on, but I will in an effort to "educate" Megan. Very few rescuers would "fob off" any of their dogs, we love them too much and want only the best for them AND FOR THE PEOPLE WHO ADOPT THEM. By saying something like this, you discredit yourself more than anyone else.
  4. Another place to try is Rescued with Love. They deal with lots of oldies . I'd love to help, but I have recently taken on two oldies to save them from being killed in the pound. I'm with you Kirst-Goldens. The little guy is probably fine and maybe his only problem was his dreadful owner. A lot of people would find this hard to understand. Please let us know how Sampson fares. Signing off before I get a warning.
  5. Such a relief to get a positive update. I'm sure I wasn't the only one feeling nervous. We can all a little more easily tonight and dream of a healed Jed.
  6. Gosh, all the wonderful things you do for your dogs. I like the idea of a Snuggle Disk. Except for Sari, all of mine sleep on the bed with me and I put polar fleece throws on their side (Yeah right - every side is their side, but I can hope ), so they can scratch around and snuggle in. I put a coat on Jeune, but even so, she still digs in under all the bedclothes.
  7. Good morning. Another day to Up 'n' at 'em, Jed. Or at least another step towards that. How y'all goin'? (In my best fake Southern USA accent ) We have some sunshine here and I am hoping it lasts long enough to get out and walk the dogs. They have been perfect in the waiting room, just lying around sleeping and giving the occasional big big stretch. Is there any chance that someone could deputise for Jed and give us an update on how she is travelling these past few days? Pleeeeeeeeeazzzzzzzze. Begging -
  8. I don't go out of my way to give my dogs alone time. However, from time to time they get shut out to give ME alone time - LOL.
  9. You did well, but I wonder how long they will last.
  10. ;) Good one. Another person who thinks this story is a good one. The woman "Gave her a good walloping for killing a chook." What is funny about that.
  11. :D Lovely story! :D Really :D . So NOT a lovely story.
  12. I agree. There must be a better way for a civilised society to handle this problem. Are any animal welfare leagues/organisations objecting? The usual short sighted, bludgeon approach by people who haven't an innovative or new idea between them. No animal deserves to die from these cruel procedures. And what about collateral kill? If councils don't care enough to stop the killing of thousands of innocents lives, they are not going to care about "feral" animals.
  13. You definitely are and I am coming to get Emmy IMMEDIATELY. Sorry I can't take Charlie as Danny is already upset at the boys I am bringing into the household. I have from time to time closed doors and dogs have been shut in rooms, but that is their fault I once shut one of the dogs in a walk in cupboard, but again, her fault intirely. I have on a few occasions forgotten to feed Gussy Cat, but she should have learnt to bark. I have on occaions given a dog a bad hair cut, but she shouldn't let her hair grow. Etc Etc. Nope, not my fault at all.
  14. I'll just have the fruit thanks. Happy to share any with Jed. 'Morning Jed. Bed is a good place to be on a day like today, at least where I am. Snuggle up and let yourself heal.
  15. What a story and what a beautiful photograph. I hope someone coughs up the money. Maybe Fergie could give some of the 40,000pounds.
  16. What a smart girl: the puppy makes her feel better. Love it.
  17. What a hugely sad sad thing to have happened, Biafra  . You all must be just so devastated. No point in telling you not to blame yourself: you will and you will go through all the "what ifs" a thousand times over. As dyzney says: it was just an awful accident. They happen and people are left shocked and bereft and wondering why. There aren't any answers really. Sincerest condolences to you and your family. Phoebe.
  18. Maybe that is something they will need to consider.
  19. Naughty Jed! You know we all want to give you real hugs so you can feel the warmth and love, and hear all the good wishes coming from hundreds and hundreds of people around the world. Keep going girl. The design of a special bag is in the planning so ChiChi can be smuggled in.
  20. What is there to investigate, I wonder? Whether or not there ARE owners, I suppose and just terminology or not expressing it all very well. My sympathies to the camels, the owners and the riders. It would have been terrifying - you are pretty high up when you are on a camel
  21. Listen live http://www.abc.net.au/rn/lifematters/default.htm
  22. Have a look at AMS thread about questions and see her answers. I will find the thread and link it here. http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=196236
  23. You just need to click on an unlit candle and follow the instructions. What unlit candle where?? I've been clicking on candles but nothing happens (except maybe for some pictures that then come up as enlargements ) When you are on the website, you will see lit candles and also candles where the wick hasn't been lit. The lit candles are all different lengths (heights) because they "burn" down for 48 hours, but the unlit candles are all full height. Click on the wick of an unlit candle and follow the steps. If there aren't any unlit candles on the first page, just go to the bottom of the page and click on Next. This will take you to the next page where there are sure to be some unlit candles.
  24. Amazing update!! 'Bout bl***dy time, Jed. Now when do you want me to smuggle ChiChi in? To excited to eat any of the goodies, but happy to share this . Mother and her Moochers are very very very happy to hear such a wonderful prognosis. Also very aware of the terrible grief that Jed is going to have to work her way through and for that we can only send our best and sincere condolences and recognition of the enormous losses
