Is that the show where the man controls about 20 dogs? I've often wondered about that as I saw an article years ago in Dogs Life Magazine.

Radio National Program Life Matters - Pound Dogs

And not only children. An adult niece of mine gave me a book a few years ago: "Unkown" by Colin Thompson, illustrations by Anna Pignataro. It is about a dog in a pound who was constantly being overlooked. I treasure it :p -

Is Wingicaribee still open? Someone here used to post about it, but I didn't follow the thread. -
Ever lived near a dog that barked all day and every day? Even I sometimes feel like going down and wringing the owner's neck.

Oh K9A, how sad. Hopefully he won't be claimed and he can came back to you for you to find him the perfect home. Talk about peas in a pod, this one and Logan !!!
-
Logan is looking really beautiful, K9A. His coat looks so soft in the photos - he has obviously thrived at your Husky Haven. Good luck with the new boy . I'm glad you are keeping him safe.

Greetings Jed. A huge undertaking is before you and I'm sure every DOLer wishes you strength and courage to face it. You have shown that to date, and while the candles may be going out one by one, I am sure I speak for hundreds of DOLers, that not a day goes by that we don't think of you and wish you a speedy recovery, a smooth rebuilding of your house and love and support from those close to you. May your new house quickly become a home and a place of peace and refuge.

Poodlefan, I am sure there are many many people who would go along with these sentiments. :D We may find out what happened to the last little guy. Probably died of fright or starving or loneliness.

I Have An Excellent Guard Dog

That is hilarious. The same little female Maltese I had used to go rushing to the phone (pre mobile days) if a phone was ringing on the television. -

I Have An Excellent Guard Dog

What a wonderfully brave protector you have. Nothing worse than lurking wheelbarrows and as for vicious pot plants :p . Go to the top of the class, Saxon. In the past, I had a Female Maltese who was all of 2kg wringing wet and she used to bark and growl at the Harley Davidson which was occasionally parked on the footpath where we walked. A bit off topic, but this has reminded me. A little further on in the same street, both dogs would occasionally put the brakes on, tails would go down and they would not go on. I had to pick them up to get them past this area. Nothing there that I could see, but obviously they sensed something that worried them. -
Reverse Rant- Good Dog Owners
Loving my Oldies replied to HeavyPaws's topic in General Dog Discussion
A wonderful story, indeed. For lovers of breeds like Rottweilers, it must be heartbreaking to see them so poorly trained and/or misunderstood. In another life when I was a volunteer dog walker at a pound, I used to see so many different dogs and was just about sh***ing myself the first time I was to walk a Rottweiler. Did I end up loving them? You bet. -

I think that is to be expected. Old habits die hard. -

Definitely turned the corner :D -
In a word, No. And in your household now, you are. He is - not a scratch - just a lot of biting, growling and screaming. I on the other hand needed a stiff drink! ETA: It lasted all of 5 seconds and they are now fine with each other. I have tiffs from time to time and I just tell them to stop being silly. I think that sometimes Jeune doesn't want clingy Tamar around and for some reason that only they know, she will suddenly growl at Tamar, Tamar will put two legs on Jeune's back, lots of growing from Jeune and then they are licking each other. I think I will clock the next person who asks me who is the alpha, boss, leader, whatever. I always say, I am. From what I've read over the years on DOL it would appear that in some breeds, having a structure is very necessary, but then there are so many variables. Maybe the person isn't strong enough, maybe the person is too strong, etc etc. Maybe the dogs just don't get on. Who is the DOLer who has large dogs ( Shepherds?? Huskies ??? Mals??? - I can't remember) and she had a photograph of them all lined up with their food bowls in front of them waiting for the signal to eat? A great picture.

Crikey! What is the story there???

I don't want to derail your beautiful thread, S/chick, but I think about this a lot too. As with human to human interaction, I think human to animals interaction has a lot to do with exercising presumed power. I could go on forever on this point, but so many people feel powerless and "put upon", that they look around for someone/something that THEY can exercise power over and too often it is someone smaller or a creature they can dominate. -
Beautiful photographs, Belgian.blue and I remember that puppy shot. The last one of you both is stunning.

Agree. I thought the same. PACERS needs a marketing department - LOL. Steve could just about start her own "Good News" newspaper with all the work she is getting.
